    The worst part about this beautiful song is that it's based on a true story and that story will break your heart.

    Sorry for recommending you such a sad song !! But made my day seeing you react to this song , always gets me
    You were spot on with the lyrics , I think the second verse is definitely from the drivers view but as far as I’m aware it was an outside driver. Brand new definitely have very complicated and subjective lyrics which I think makes them so good.
    The album this and Jesus Christ (the other song you did ) are off is called “ The Devil and God are raging inside of me “ and is about the lead singers battle with faith
    Thanks

      The album title came from a conversation the singer had with a friend of his who was schizophrenic and bipolar, and the title is a phrase he used to describe how his disorders made him feel inside.

      It’s nothing to do with his faith. Jesse has already said it was to do with all his faults and struggling to forgive himself for what he’s done. He uses Jesus figuratively in his lyrics to demonstrate “his sins”

    A little bit more context to the story. The singer lived just a couple blocks down from Katie’s Family, and I believe he may have known them personally, and affected him quite a bit.
    In my view, it’s seems to be him making sense of what happened and relating his own feelings to not only the family, but also the drunk driver and the immense guilt that comes from something so horrible. I’d imagine it’s difficult for many to humanize the drunk driver in any way , but I believe it’s really touching on a dark side that has the potential to exist in all of us and the unintended consequences of the choices we make. A super haunting song, but I think it tackles some really hard topics without overtly moralizing everything that it clouds the message. As uncomfortable as it may be to some, I think it’s something everyone will have to reconcile within themselves.

    This song is a masterclass in songwriting, emotional weight, how to take your time increasing the intensity. My fav part is all the “I love you so much” section. It’s just one line over and over, but the way it transforms is both awesome and earned.

    • @abrimfulofasha
      @abrimfulofasha ปีที่แล้ว

      The... " I love you so much, but do me a favour baby, don't reply cause I can dish it out, but I can't take it" line is confusing.
      Who's saying this cause the driver is the one saying I can dish it out, but I can't take it and the line before it "I love you soo much" couldn't be the driver. I'm very confused about these two lines put together.

      It’s unfortunate I called this whole song a masterclass in songwriting, then also chose this part to call my favorite.
      Because in that one particular part, yeah I have no idea how those two lines are supposed to logically add up when put together like that.

    • @thelongestdongrod190

      @@Colinkrauss1I think it's supposed to mean prayer and goodbyes. You can dish out all the prayers and goodbyes but once something tells or signifies to you goodbye back, it's forever, especially in the case of death and faith, which this song has lyrics referencing both. You can pray that they rest easy and that you're able to say goodbye but at the moment you might not want to let go and hear or see a goodbye. Just my interpretation

    • @yanitzagonzalez8549

      @@abrimfulofashaI always interpreted it as Katie’s mother in grief and mourning as “if” there was a way Katie could reply, her mother wouldn’t be able to take it.
      I also think these lyrics have a double meaning as I believe that it’s also the driver’s sentiments about the situation(his guilt, maybe even denial)

    Remain in my hands and smile is referring to her mother holding her head. It's so awful. The ending lyrics hidden in the background has me confused, too. Yes katie was 7 when she died, "I can dish it out but i can't take it" I believe refers to the drunk dirver who had no remourse for taking the years of Katie's life from her but doesn't want fo hear rhe courts take the years from his life.
    2 people died and he was released recently, btw. After only 15 years. What a shame, the courts need to fall, because there's no justice in them.
    Also, thank you, brother for spreading the word of Jesus Christ 🖤

    Beautiful reaction - I love the way you dissected the song and it was very well put. This band has soooo many deep powerful songs tying to religion that you should explore (devil and god/daisy/science fiction have strong ties)
    I have however always wondered something stemming from your close. Don’t take this as anything but me digging for more answer, please.
    We all Make mistakes and should look to better ourselves each day and learn from them (if you don’t, then you could be a bad person). I just can’t understand what the difference is between myself and someone attending church every Sunday if we lived generally parallel lifestyles. where does that cutoff occur for each side? Who’s going to
    Heaven / hell in this scenario. A thief/criminal stealing from his sons Boy Scouts troop but attending church and requesting forgiveness?or an atheist who had a minor hit and run on their way to work a minimum wage job to provide for his struggling family?
    We finally achieved a point in time where we know now color/wealth/gender/etc. mean nothing when it comes to “good” and “bad” people. This is new to most… like 50-100 years new. Meaning for 1000s of years (all of time basically), people were enslaved (and slaves often killed others to escape the injustice and survive), people cheated to gain wealth (but created jobs and provide charitable contributions), killed in wars - heck, almost the entirety of the world was shaped by stealing others land! How does being raised in a religion factor into good or bad? Gods gotta be excited people don’t need to hear him say “don’t murder”. That’s work off his plate in my book!
    At the end of the day, I just think the ultimate goal is to be better for our kids, who can be better for theirs, so on and so forth. Ideally, in the future we are going to have a more unified and happy community of “earth” as a whole. That’s all I can do as a person, as I can’t see the past or predict the future. I am working to control and influence what is in my scope, and if god is up there analyzing - then I was wrong and hopefully that spirit/being will see that instead of praying and reciting his word, I wasn’t using that time to go break the commandments/laws.
    Curious if you have any insights on my logic… Thanks for bearing with my novel here! Haha - best to you my friend!

    The song had nothing to do with a limousine crash when it was preformed originally. It had to do with the 400,000 men that said they were going to murder the all father jon by consuming his soul. All father because jon birthed the daughters and Lynn birthed the sons in soul form. Keep in mind god is jon the all father and goddess all mother Lynn, jon will turn to Lynn for approval of final judgement on judgement day. It is best to refer to Lynn as all mother Lynn and jon as all father jon

  • @CalamitousJonathan
    @CalamitousJonathan 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It is the all fathers song to the all mother and children saying children will fall in love with the all mother because they eat the all fathers soul, committing cosmic sin and the all father is warning the children and all mother about what to expect. god will punish any children that develop an unhealth infatuation with the all mother. Judgement day is coming, it isn't too late to give Lynn jon's soul so you don't get judged. Technically jon is the all father, and Lynn the all mother. But if you took pieces of jon's soul, return it to jon or Lynn to avoid judgement.
