Sola Melodica is an online community where music and the Christian faith converge in fun and exciting ways!
Hi, I am Tim Kiser. An unashamed disciple of Christ and a self-proclaimed fanatic of music. I lean towards the heavier stuff (IMHO Iron Maiden is the best of the best) but I enjoy anything that moves me emotionally.
Artists love to interject "spirituality" into their art. When they do, I will pick up the conversation at that point.
I react to videos mentioning any aspect of the Christian faith. My desire is to highlight the redemptive value in their art, and enthusiastically share it. As a result, the Light of the glorious Gospel will shine in the hearts of those listening.
Musicians - thank you for starting the conversation!
If you find Sola Melodica beneficial, please take a moment to subscribe, ring the bell, comment, and share.

Good News and Bad News
Typically, people want the bad news first.
The bad news is that we are all sinners. You are a sinner, and I am a sinner.
Our good works don’t offset our sins.
Plus, there is no statute of limitations on our sins.
Justice demands recompense.
The Good News
God had a plan all along. True justice could not ignore these iniquities and transgressions. The penalty had to sufficiently cover every sin that was committed in the past and any sin that would be committed in the future.
Yes, all of them.
Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, came to earth sinless and perfect. He lived a sin-free life. He healed the sick, raised the dead, fed the hungry, and loved fearlessly.
He was the perfect sacrifice for our sins.
A lamb without spot or blemish was sentenced to die a brutal death on our behalf.
Jesus was tortured without mercy. He was mocked, spat upon, cursed, and deserted by His friends. According to Isaiah, the beating was so ghastly that He could not be recognized as a human (Isaiah 52:14).
He died a horrific death, gasping for breath, nailed to a Roman instrument of torture.
His death was just one part of the redemption story. The best part was death could not keep Him. He defeated death and conquered hell.
It’s written, “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Romans 4:25).
The resurrection did not transpire until justification (justice), in the eyes of God, was achieved.
The punches, whipping, cursing, the crown of thorns, nailing, and betrayal were for you and for me.
What Jesus endured was more violent and appalling than anything Quentin Tarantino could envision.
The price for our sins has been paid. There is no double jeopardy in the Kingdom of God.
Our sin is judged in Christ.
That, my friend, is Good News!

Superstars Talking About God, Jesus, and Faith (Brand, Rogan, Burr, Ozzy and more)

There seems to be a faith awakening in certain pockets of pop culture. Joe Rogan and Dr. Jordan Peterson seem to be getting close to the edge in their inquiries. Comedians such as Bill Burr, Pete Holmes, and Jeff Allen are addressing the logical absurdities of atheism. Russell Brand is addressing things in full force. This brief video contains powerful arguments for faith from stand-up comedy r...

Feel Invincible By Skillet - Reaction 1st Time Hearing
Sorry dude but this is about the "Crusades".
Blaze Bayley wrote this song, he basically sings about God, check out his new stuff.
Revelations is a great song!
The Message out of the song is always have Empathy for others, Never Judge another person, Because "you don't know what its like to walk in their shoes"
The album is beautiful, pan-religuois with lots of Islamic and Quaker influences.
Buddy...you need to read deeper into YOUR Bible. Got a little hate there...
They're my Beatles. Faith Hope Love and Gretchen Goes To Nebraska are two of their best but I'd listen to any of them any day. Many positive messages and just amazing different lyrics too exploring openly so much... their singer is Doug (dUg) Pinnick. He's an amazing all-round human being.
fond memories of those cassettes. :)
I have watched a lot of reaction on this song. I haven’t heard anyone say, that this sweet man taught this young man about God and belief. I do cry everytime I hear this song. Praise God for these special people He puts in our lives.
this one gets you in the feels.
It’s a jazz song if anything. It’s so good.
I felt like Zakk was a believer long before I actually knew. I grew up listening to him and this song has always stuck with me. I hate the stereotype that heavy metal is demonic... like there are a TON of heavy metal believers. most are actually.. following Jesus is far from an easy journey... it's extremely metal.
This song is basically a musical incarnation of what the sins of despair and blasphemy of the Holy Spirit are.
This is probably the best faith based song I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. So thank you Brooks and Dunn for blessing us with these words and this song. And the amazing way you perform the song. Beautiful story and words.
I don't know, but the T-shirt you are wearing is a wee bit sus. It looks like NAZI to me
it helps to have the lyrics
okaaayy...
When I see a person wearing cross I ask,"Is the cross you are wearing a decoration or declaration?"
I've seen Shinedown 13-14 times, and I agree with you about Brent Smith being underrated as a vocalist. The last couple of times I saw them, I thought they had gotten very "preachy." The "casual stories" between songs were word for word the same every time. Mix that shit up. It's gotten stale. They are now lip syncing a LOT in their live shows. The thing that pissed me off the most was Zach Myers' comment when asked about it - "So? Everybody does it now." Weak.
Yea, I saw them twice last year and found similar things. However, the last show had a medical emergency that forced them to mix things up.
So, what I'd like to bring up is that the Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse, The Seven Headed Dragon, and The Beast are all a part of symbolism. You're not actually going to see horsemen taking everything out. What they represent (War, Conquest, Famine, Pestilence, and Death) you will see.
thanks for your contribution. I find the books of Revelation, Daniel and Ezekiel difficult.
Such an underrated song, even among TSO fans. Great reaction and analysis. Have a Happy Thanksgiving for you and your family! Go Lions.
You picked the right band. I will be seeing them for the 18th time 12/14/24 in Orlando. God bless!
Saw them in Grand Rapids tour. Fantastic as ever. Hope the FL show was awesome!
Remain in my hands and smile is referring to her mother holding her head. It's so awful. The ending lyrics hidden in the background has me confused, too. Yes katie was 7 when she died, "I can dish it out but i can't take it" I believe refers to the drunk dirver who had no remourse for taking the years of Katie's life from her but doesn't want fo hear rhe courts take the years from his life. 2 people died and he was released recently, btw. After only 15 years. What a shame, the courts need to fall, because there's no justice in them. Also, thank you, brother for spreading the word of Jesus Christ 🖤
That’s not this song at all! It’s not saying that as a Christian our lives will be perfect! It’s saying that no matter what is going on in your life God is there! When you’re down when you’re feeling low or when there are deeper issues happening you have GOD! She isn’t saying she is great! Your interpretation makes zero sense literally zero sense and I don’t think you’ve ever even read a Bible or you would understand the song and you don’t! I feel bad for your congregation stop it
You suck
He curses himself at the end that even if he had a chance to do it over again a better way he would find a way to keep it the same because that is who he is. So say we all. Also, we all let down all those we love, but it really is only the way we always see it not them most of the time.
This song is talking about all kinds of different examples and is talking against those examples when people blaspheme the name of Christ
This is my favorite song to listen to on Easter Sunday 🤘
Excellent
Thanks for listening to what Joe Rogan, Pete Holmes, Jeff Allen, Young Sheldon, Bill Burr, and Russell Brand say about faith, the Bible, and God. Enjoy...with an open mind. 😃
Amen!
R.I.P. JQP lead singer Dan Fritz. My condolences to his family and friends.
I really appreciate your comment regarding doing good for the sake of pleasing God as opposed to earning reward/salvation. I feel that Christians focus too heavily on the salvation aspect of Christs teachings and not enough on the doing good aspects. They use the tired old excuse that its too difficult and I feel that because they feel guarded by their belief in Christ as a way to their salvation that it enables them even more in not thinking enough about the consequences of their actions. I think doing good can lead to worldly salvation or blessing. Its all a matter of perspective. If you can see the consequences of your sacrifices, how in which your actions cause good things to occur that can bring you peace of mind or happiness. Also people take note of your actions and worldly rewards may come from that. But we dont do them for the rewards. Do them because they are the right thing to do as far you know or understand them to be. I know that the gospel of Thomas isnt canonical but the beginning opens up by saying that your salvation rests in your ability to UNDERSTAND the sayings therein. Likewise, the philosopher Spinoza stated that "The highest activity that a human being can attain is learning for understanding, because to understand is to be free". Just some things to think about. Theres more to say but I suppose Ill just leave it at that.
This is a response to conservative evangelicals like the Heritage Foundation
The part where he starts pouring the cup on the table is the part that breaks me every time, without fail.
GOD KILLED HIMSELF. IF HE WANTED US KNOW HE EXISTED HE WOULD NOT BE SUCH A COWARD AN D SHOW HIS FACE
Numbers verse 11 i think tells you to get an abortion from your Rabbi if you have ceated so the bible is pro abortion. And the singer/songwriter is a PHD and professor and has been for a few decades, was when this song was written
The fans of La Dispute are a different breed. Very passionate, poetic people
Love mewithoutyou. Thanks for reacting
Best comment and breakdown of this song ive heard God csn send anyone to open our eyes and our hearts God BlessYou ❤❤

Best genre of music from the 20th Century......period
Suicidal is misunderstood. They sing about suicide not to do it just to tell everyone how TEENS get to this point. Suicidal saved my life in many ways cause you could listen and hear the same angst and hopelessness. Believe me when i say they have helped a hell of a lot of kids. Someone who they can listen and say yea thats how i feel. But if you still see this there is one song The Feelings Back you need to hear..that will explain all their songs..hint hint..they are saying there is a better way even thoug you feel like shit (feel like shit deja vu...and How will i laugh tomorriw when i cant even smile today)..you will get a better understanding of ST .. I was destructive..never wanted to live past 30..now I am 51 today and own my own place. Can say if i did not have that outlet i would not be here..weight off my shoulders hearing theses songs even at my age. They ARE NOT about suicide..just expressing how suicidal people feel!!!!!!!!!!!
All I Want Is You / my fave U2 song
Power of the Night is from 1985, not 1995.
Check out Thrice - words in the water. You won’t regret it.
Talk talk fro a perfect circle is a great one as well. Same message/vibe.
Kix Brooks is playing the guitar. Ronnie Dunn sings
Did you ever play telephone as a kid? By the end of the line the sentence has completely changed. Think about how many times the Bible has been translated and even changed languages? I’d venture to guess that the amount of times that book has been rewritten and translated, or bears little to no resemblance to the actual book.
