I had seen Journey, Van Halen (1984), Rush, Styx, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot all in the same year or so. Then it came to me, the VERY first concert was Dio, 1983. I went to TH-cam and the raw power of the videos of the '83 tour that I saw blew me away... even to this day. His voice truly was second to none. RIP.

True, there is no substitute for Steve, but the band had to move on and they couldn't have picked a better musician. That being said, Vivian's talents are not being utilized to the full potential. He is AWESOME.

Vivian Campbell made Def Leppard better imho, the songs are fuller, the problem most people have is it’s no longer the 80’s, Adrenalize showed that, but I don’t think bad of Steve Clark, the band said he left a year before he died.
As a Def Leppard fan I must say, altough the best albuns were with Steve Clark, Viv Campbell was the best they could have ever had. I like both Clark and Campbell. Personally, I enjoy more Clark's Riffs and creativity, but Campbell as an awesome technique and passion. They both are among my fav guitar players. Campbell's work in Dio is the best and Dio without Campbell were never the same.
