- Can I beat a Pokemon Hardcore Nuzlocke challenge in Heartgold and Souldsilver using only Ice types?
Nuzlocke Rules:
-Fainted Pokemon must be permanently boxed
-Only the first encounter on any given route may be caught (dupes clause)
-All pokemon must be nicknamed
Hardcore Rules:
-Always Set mode
-No items from the bag option in battle (held items are ok)
-No overleveling the next gym leader

@@matchamitminzetheyre the worst types because GF makes ice types slow and bulky. Ice literally resists only itself.
@@Kauan176ProBr That‘s very true, but at the same time, a lot of players‘ opinions of Pokemon tend to be colored too much by the Pokemon‘s competitive viability. Ice types do continue to get shafted in that department, but there‘s definitely more to Pokemon than just a competitive battling aspect, especially in in-game playthroughs.
This is why I'm so happy Cetitan exists to somewhat resurge the typing. Ice types desperately need more love, they're some of the coolest pokemon.

Im pretty sure you can’t unlock the icy mountain road to get sneasel on the pokewalker until after you beat the elite 4.
Edit: I checked the pokewalker routes and the only two ice type Pokémon you can get from the pokewalker before beating the elite 4 are shelder who evolves into cloyster, and smoochum from the Blue lake and Dim cave pokewalker routes respectively

Shell Armor Lapras is the only consistent mon that beats Clair's Kingdra, so having it in this run is a blessing. Only good Shell Armor mon at that point in the game and you can Rest stall it out of Dragon Pulse. Smokescreen is definitely still annoying, but it doesn't make Rest less accurate since it's not an attack

Is it me or. does the lighting make shellder look more silver than purple? For a second I thought it was a shiny before I remembered its actual shiny

Probably it could have been easier with Froslass from the Walker and Sneasel at route 28. Delibird can be found only in SoulSilver (serebii is my source) so the only 2 possible encounters in the Ice Path were Swin and Jynx
And Yeah, Jynx could also be found in Seafoam islands but probably it would have been more useful during that Bruno fight
You can only get Froslass after you beat the elite 4 and unlock the icy mountain path. Which leads to the question of how tf did he get a sneasel before beating the elite 4?
you could have caught a Jynx in the Seafoam Islands to have a third team member, but I guess it didn't matter in the end lol

This means that now Pokemon Heart Gold & Sous Silver has been Hardcore Uzlocked with every type.
Currently at Lance’s fight so not sure how it ends... BUT the situation at this point was totally avoidable. Sneasel was 4x weak to fighting. Letting Lapras/Dewgong take a Hitmonlee’s attack would have saved a lot of carnage. Anyway, ICE TYPES are INCREDIBLY UNDERRATED. I actually think they’re my favourite type these days. I did a Soul Silver run with Glaceon (starter), Dewgong, Cloyster, Weavile, Piloswine and Lapras and had an absolute blast. I only cheated to have Glaceon as my partner Pokemon - the rest I caught as you would in the game.
OK so I just finished and if you can get through Karen and Lance, all the Kanto Gym Leaders AND Red with only TWO Ice type Pokemon.... I think it proves the superiority of the freeze!
Now order a vanilla ice cream with caramel on it! (HOW COULD YOU SACRIFICE VANILLA SHE WOULD HAVE LIVED)

I'm many months late, but I haven't seen anyone acknowledge that Smoochum is available at level 12 in the Dim Cave on the Pokéwalker, the route before Shellder appears. It's not a big deal, but the beginning doesn't make much sense with this in mind.
