- Honeymoon Island State Park is a great little island getaway on Florida's west coast. It's undeveloped, natural, clean, and away from the hustle and bustle of some of the more popular tourist beaches in Florida. And it's a great place to see local wildlife!
Spent a lot of time here in mid 70’s. Lived nearby. Nothing there at that time other than a parking lot. It was a nice quiet place to go then as well.
My husband and I were there while we were on vacation celebrating our 20th anniversary. The island was so mellow and relaxed but watch out for the diving seagulls. If they think they've got a clean shot at your food, they come in fast! I lost half my fries to the thieving buggers.
It was still a beautiful afternoon.
All it takes is one Seagull to be brave enough and they all take their cue from there. We once had a spilled bag of Goldfish Crackers turn into a scene from an Alfred Hitchcock movie.
I absolutely love this beach.
We just went there today, love it and love see the doggies having lots of fun ⛱️🥂❤️

Caladesi Island is an extension of Clearwater Beach.
The Pinellas trail to bike, walk or hike is also a must , right there on dunnelin town
The town is Dunedin, not Donnellon which is a town further north and inland.
Man, this sounds ideal for me. And the name Honeymoon is perfect. I'm hoping to marry Anna as soon as possible. Of course only if she says yes.🙏🙏🙏 Can we bring the 22' travel trailer there easily? Or perhaps you can recommend a nearby inexpensive campground or two? I'm definitely not happy to hear there's alot of deadly venomous rattlesnakes there though. I'd think the human safety conscientious people would have removed them all. I wonder, maybe that place doesn't have many people because of the rattlesnakes. Anyway, thanks for sharing and caring.
This beach is SUPER CROWDED! There was almost NOWHERE to put our tent. For reference, I went yesterday, June 10th on a Saturday. The beach is beautiful, but just a heads up there is lots of rocks so you will be needing watershoes. Our feet got cuts. There is also sea urchins so watch where you step under water

Is there a part of the island that’s nicer than the other parts? Where are the beaches the best?
Yes! Go to the North Beach parking lot, and the beaches on that end of the park are nice and wide. The beaches along the main parking lot are pretty narrow and can get crowded.
My favorite place! I spent many many days there fishing when we lived in Clearwater, was like 7 minutes from my house! Oh I miss that place
What about dangerous animals like gators? Anything like that to worry abt when heading there?
No gator in sea water
Any fossil coral locations?

Well worth the $8 entry fee for a carload
The water did not look that clear or turquoise when I went!

nothing comes close to California beaches; just visited here at Honeymoon. It was nice, though. wasn't that impressed with siesta key; st. petes nice. clearwater by far the best real beach, but way too many people and food ripoffs at below mediocre quality
California beaches are nice ,but the water is cold for some people if you aren’t from the west coast.
