My big risk is quitting a federal job in Alaska I got straight out of the army to go to law school in new Orleans closer to my family. I'm really excited because its been a dream of mine to be an attorney since high school!! I have not quit yet... I will in exactly one year.
My big risk is going back to school and doing somewhat of a career change. I’m 31 and I’m starting school for nursing. I wanna go all the way and become a family nurse practitioner!
Tasha! Hello. I just heard your interview on Clair's podcast. I love meeting other online business owners using TH-cam to grow their business. Way-to-go girl for getting ready to leave your lawyer job. I'm so inspired by your story.
You guys are great. :) I loved that story about your relationship. I have the same fears about my current boyfriend of 1 1/2 years. He's never had a girlfriend before me, never even had a date, is four years younger than me, only had one job, and still lives with his parents. Meanwhile, I moved out of my mom's place 8 years ago, have been engaged twice, had nine jobs in the past 12 years, and have had so many different bad experiences that taught me many things. But there are some things that make him more mature (in certain areas) than myself: He has 8 siblings and is the second oldest so he's taken care of many babies, he can drive and I panic whenever I try to learn, and while I tend to obsess over saving money, he actually spends less due to.... just not desiring certain things like home decor or clothing or healthy food. So I'm hoping we balance each other out.
I’m risk averse when it comes to money, because I’ve been through some bad life events that make me more conservative. But I’ve definitely taken a lot of life risks-getting an MBA, changing companies, taking on a new risky project at work, starting a website...the list goes on!
My two big risks were having 2 daughters knowing I was going to be a single parent and they are 2 awesome adults now that I am so very proud of. My other risk was marrying an awesome husband after 3 months of dating we’ve been married 3 years now.
My big risk is grad school. Despite the fact that I have some savings and have a fairly decent sized scholarship, it is still a risk and I am kind of scared about it. But hey, no risk means no reward, so it is worth the fear :)
This is the first video I see of you guys where it feels like you’re really yourselves and not using a script. I’m loving it so much! ☺️ Thanks for this informational chat
I'm gearing up to quit my job after being there for over 10 years. And seeing your other video on the day you quit it was amazing. Very inspiring. I've subscribed to see your journey.
My 2 big risks are: buying a home and starting my new business as a 2nd source of income. I live in Barbados 🇧🇧 and ever since i found your channel i have been so inspired.
I needed to hear this. I get so scared taking risks in life but it usually does work out. I’m switching companies in order to challenge myself and grow my skills and career.
I think you're right that planning and weighing up the positives and negatives is key, but sometimes you've just got to take the leap no matter how scary. My biggest risk was leaving my last business. We naively put 4 years of our everything into it (and a huge amount of loaned money), it was also our home as we lived above the business but due to circumstances around the company we worked under it was set to fail no matter how much time and money we threw at it. We left in a huge amount of debt, were briefly homeless and didn't really have a solid plan other than a dream of running our own business in our own way without a big corporation breathing down our necks. 18 months and a ton of hard work later we've just celebrated the 1st anniversary of our thriving new business which is exactly what we had dreamed of for those 4 previous years but never thought was possible. It was a huge risk but starting from rock bottom actually felt like a massive weight lifted and we looked at it as a big opportunity rather than dwelling on what we had lost. What we have gained is a million times better in every way.
I want to quit my job. I've been in the same job for almost 5 years and I don't feel like I'm growing. I don't have a plan B yet, but I have been applying to jobs so fingers crossed!
Thank you for this video! The book “Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway” helped me a ton. I am about to go back to grad school to finish my PhD and that book helped me do it.
Congrats on taking the plunge into full-time entrepreneurship! Completely agree that whenever you take a risk, it’s essential to have a plan! Thank you for sharing the risks you took and can’t wait to watch your journey unfold! x WBW
I decided to end my lease at the end of June and become a nomad. I always fear I'll spend too much on gas money, there will be an emergency that drains my funds, etc., but so far, it's been so liberating. Because I live out of my car (staying on campgrounds, with friends/family while passing through), I save so much money with not paying rent, internet, or electricity bills. I work remote and temporary jobs with some side hustles, so even though it's not a lot of money, I am still pretty easily able to make do.
My big risk was starting nursing this past May when my husband and daughter are already in School. He is online and my daughter is in a small private school. Needless to say we are living on a tight budget (of there is one). I had been thinking about nursing school for a while with my daughter being a sophomore in high school this year, I had to decide quick so I finished before she started college. It is an accelerated program by God’s Grace I finish in April 2020! #phaseoneinprogress #futureRN
This was so helpful and encouraging. I have not made the smartest decisions but I have questioned decisions that have ultimately brought so much happiness in my life. This video has given be a new/better perspective. I quit a very rewarding (morally/financially) job in mental health because I outgrew the position and I started to disdain going to work due to the workplace environment. I started graduate school (MBA candidate) mostly to learn for pleasure and to use my degree in my future career. Financially, I need help lol BUT I know that this will pay off in the near future. I have been applying to jobs, have had great opportunities and decided to start an online accounting boutique. I have been so inspired and I look forward to your videos each week! Sure, I don’t have a lot of money at this time but for the first time, I feel so free and happy.
It was also a big risk for me dating and marrying Jayme as he is 4 years younger, was still in college and I was into my career and living in my own for several years and came from very different family values... but it worked out VERY WELL!! 😍😍
You guys are so cute! 😆☺️ Two of the risks that I took was going to college for my degree and also leaving a job for even a bigger job. I feel like you guys are giving me the courage to keep following my dreams and my passion. ☺️👍🏻💛
I have starting douting buying a home a couple of minutes ago. Now watching this remind me of many things that i have done "ridk wise" and have pay off. Planning being key word. So defenetly going to buy my first house this year.
When it comes to home owning, Mark and I are like that as well. Mark wants to live in a place for at least 5 years, where as I could move every few months. xD I'm so glad your relationship worked out for you. I feel like there is a lot of pressure when it comes to relationships, not just from the two people in the relationship, but additionally the families they are joining. My big risk is ACTUALLY POSTING VIDEOS ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE! I love making videos, I love editing (though I fail epically), but for some reason I just cannot bring myself to upload them. I feel like they are extremely underpar compared to the things I personally like watching.
A risk that I’m taking is stepping out of my comfort zone and planning on interning abroad next semester. I’ve never been out the country before so it’s pretty big to me and I’ll be staying there for about three months kinda scary but also rewarding :)
Can you guys do a serious or a few videos about buying your first home and selling homes with real numbers? I love you both and you guys have turned my life around! I'm so grateful for you guys & this channel! Wishing you guys all the success!
Hey Tasha and Joseph, thanks for this video! Tasha, since you were 8 years in the public sector, curious whether you considered staying until your PSLF kicked in?
I'm quitting my job to go on a six month sabbatical to explore Asia, do some writing, some blogging and a lot of soul-searching. I have to give up my apartment too so it is a huge risk but it's been a dream of mine for so long and I can't wait to make it a reality!
Ok, I just have to say thank you! Thank you for the way you view and discuss student loans. My middle daughter is getting ready to leave for college in a few weeks and she is in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program. There is NO WAY that we would have been able to save enough money during her childhood to pay for college or her. She worked hard and received many academic scholarships but she has had to take out student loans to cover the rest. I have been sick about it. As an occasional listener of Dave Ramsey, I have this feeling that student loans are the devil. It has been so refreshing to hear you guys talk...I know that my daughter wouldn’t be able to do her dream job that she has felt called to for years without the responsible use of student loans. Thanks guys 😊
You two are so cute ❤ you a beautiful couple. I don't take risks had the same state job for over 18 years. But I am supporting my Husband as he builds his own business.
would LOVE a video explaining your real estate purchasing decisions around @5:50. how do you know which areas and markets are "hot?" when do you know when to sell? furthermore, how do you choose to invest and what to do with the excess of your savings after expenses?
Hi Tasha and Joseph, My big risk that I am considering taking is changing my career and a pay cut. I am working for a major manufacturing firm with a good pay. However, with my career goal in mind, I will not be able to get there with this current company, which makes me switch career. I have been trying to find a job in the new field but because I don't have experience, I have to get a pay cut. I am worried but in order to make me happy and can achieve the best in my career, I am considering it...
My big risk is my husband horrible with money, explained to him we need emergency fund account and Let’s see how it goes:-).. I take care of everything though. Just Subscribed to you guys 🙋🏾♀️ so many houses in one year 🤔
Big risk that payoff was leaving family and friends behind and moving to Texas. Having 1k in the bank to payoff over 80k worth of student loan. Lastly was leaving the religion I known all my life...
I like your content however I can't relate to much of it. You might want to add insights for rural areas. We don't have a "good" school area. There is one school. Industry is dwindling. There is no public transportation or Uber. I have a car and drive 45 miles one way to work, before I was laid off. 250 job applications in, I am still unemployed. Where do I start to recover?
Hi Amber, I'm sorry that things have been difficult for you. In the video we talked about moving for new job opportunities. We also talked about earning money online. Those can apply to anyone's situation. Whenever you hear advice, always ask yourself how you can make it work for your situation. You'd be surprised what you come up with!--Tasha
I've heard of people not having to pay back their student loan debt after 15 years. I heard that it was a program that was offered through the government like a loan forgiveness program of some sort. Are you familiar with this?
Do you know anyone who has had their loan forgiven? Even with public service loan forgiveness, what is the percentage of applicants who have had their loan forgiven with this program?
My big risk is -- after burning out in several Marketing jobs as a HSP with a Master in Literature -- take the leap and study again, being over 35 yrs now. My big dream was always to work as a psychologist. I have several appointments concerning this in this very month.
Also the risk Hubby and I are going to take is to “load” his 401k up at his W2 job to get the benefit and live off his 1099 to test how it would be before he goes full time as a therapist. Trying to figure out how to “tax shelter” the money is my challenge
did one big happy life go into a dating story time? (details on the dating / not so much on the questionaire (QnA :/ tends to ruin the flow of the story)
you guys lost me when you said you still have student loans but invest into other stuff. Pay it off people! I agree that student loans can have their benefits in terms of getting you into a good field and setting you and your family up for success... but for god sake please FOCUS, budget, and pay off those dang loans! Freeze your retirement contributions, budget 300/M (for BOTH of you) a month in groceries, etc. PAY IT OFF!
There's a major misconception out there that debt is bad and that everyone's first financial priority should be debt payoff. You should check out our videos on savings vs. paying off debt, where we explain how prioritizing debt payoff can actually negatively impact your ability to build wealth long term and compromise your financial security in the short term.--Tasha

Kayla Mckinney good job girl !
Go ahead lovely!! Peace and abundance!
My big risk if going back to college for business finance! at 30 years old I finally found my true passion!
Good for you! Best of luck!
My big risk is quitting my job. I've had this job for seven years and I now its time for me to find something else.
You got it!
My big risk is going back to school and doing somewhat of a career change. I’m 31 and I’m starting school for nursing. I wanna go all the way and become a family nurse practitioner!

I'm moving to another country in 2 months. This is definitely the biggest risk i have ever done by far.
Congrats! I just put in my 2 weeks but planned out and feel confident in what's to come
Loved the intro and the outro especially :D I think that we all have to take risks from time to time and manage them well.
My big risk is grad school. Despite the fact that I have some savings and have a fairly decent sized scholarship, it is still a risk and I am kind of scared about it. But hey, no risk means no reward, so it is worth the fear :)

I love your confidence. I’m hoping it’s infectious. 🤔
I love how transparent you are!!! Thank You!!!
I needed to hear this. I get so scared taking risks in life but it usually does work out. I’m switching companies in order to challenge myself and grow my skills and career.
This video was so awesome! Fear of taking risk is my biggest hinderance!! Also you guys are so motivating and sweet!
My big risk is qutting my low income job to study construction technology at a community college 2 hours away.

Definitely needed this video as a push. I’m not so eager to make risks with money. 🙈 but you really have to know a good risk and just bite the bullet

Details would be nice, not just telling us.
What do you mean? They give lots of details and the video was pretty clear IMO.
what details are you looking for? I thought they gave a very complete explanation of their risks.
