    Awesome video David! I really like getting glimpses into what each person uses and has on hand. I like to learn something from each person and add it to what I am doing. I think I have most of what you covered with me or on me when I go out cutting or splitting. Thanks for the information, tips, and content! Hope you and the family are doing well!

    Those double tapers are my favorite, but they're really soft, they fall apart if a guy doesn't hit them super square. I have a bunch of the madsens ones too, i think wells plastics makes them for madsens, theyre great, and alot more sturdy

    Good stuff! I keep most of what you keep with you for sure. I do keep a fire extinguisher though. We aren't allowed to cut standing dead but I do it anyways because there's nothing on the ground like they want you to cut! Anyways be safe and see ya next time!

    Excellent video!! I drag around a 390 or 395 most of the time. I run a Aaron Lynch wedge banger. I run a Dana Hudson felling rig. 32” bars full house I do not cut for a living I just play.

  • @ToddAdams1234

    I carry:3 saws JUST IN CASE and they all have different bar lengths, I carry 3 axes 1 is a 8lb maul 2 are regular 4lb but 1has a 32” handle & 1 is a 28” that I use for bang AND for VERY mild splitting, fuel container, bar oil container(s), chainsaw toolbox with MANY different things (I’ll get into that later), WATER because it’s a very necessary thing. In my saw tool box I have multiple wedges, 2 DIFFERENT screnches, files both round and flat, I keep my depth gauge in the truck where I keep my wallet, bar oil cleaner for the saws, bar rail cleaner, bar tip grease gun, extra clutch cover nuts, and it seems like I’ve got other stuff in it but I’m to lazy to go look right now! I ALSO keep (in 4 different lengths) 3/8 chain of a total length of roughly 80’. I also have an inside truck bed toolbox that I KEEP stuffed with “things” that I might need to repair various different things, including my truck. I also keep a 5gal bucket about 1/3 full of saw chips that I use for those times when nature calls so that I can “sit” for a while, especially considering that I have Chron’s Disease and my “stuff” usually takes me time to take care of. The truck is a 99 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 that I bought new (when I could afford it). If I didn’t like it then I’d have sent it down the road a long time ago. It runs on 35” tires so getting in or out is USUALLY not an issue. For those times when things don’t go as planned I also have a VERY good and strong winch on the front so that I can self extract OR for coercion of a tree when I absolutely have to. That’s all that I can think of right now. 🤔😉🥰

    Good stuff bro! Your right about the leather gloves. Even when I ran a saw on a type 2 fire crew I would wear a pair of mechanix gloves and I didn’t have the problem with crap in my gloves.
    I like what you said about just get out there with what you got👍

    Totally new to Firewood Tools but why does everyone carry a measuring tape?? To measure before bucking the felled tree?? Sorry for my ignorance.

    • @mountainlifewithdavidkelsie
      @mountainlifewithdavidkelsie  ปีที่แล้ว

      To measure out how long you want your wood cut. And I usually have them in my trucks because I fell timber too so I need them to cut log lengths

    An axe, shovel, bucket, and or extinguisher should always go in the vehicle. Weather your cutting firewood or just going for a drive in the woods, especially in the west or during the dry season.

      @johnphillips770 : I will have to get my Dad and have him work with me to get one together. He was a hospital Corman in the US Navy.. but definitely needed as I am told for every second of the chain moving, you need 60 stitches.
