    • @OzariaGrace
      @OzariaGrace 4 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      Be careful with doing this! Keeping your hair wet for hours and hours overnight is the number one way to cause hygral fatigue (or moisture overload) as your cuticles are swollen and open for long long periods of time, which eventually leads to the protein bonds in your hair breaking down. So it’s actually not healthy for your hair in the long run or continuously :)

    • @zzzCUPcake123
      @zzzCUPcake123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Grace Agreed! Experience this and took forever to recover

    • @OzariaGrace
      @OzariaGrace 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Mirta Craft that’s true the balance is so important! But after a certain amount of time your hair would have absorbed all it can, that’s why directions normally tell you how long to leave it on for as adding extra hours isn’t necessary. If it hasn’t penetrated into your hair after the suggested time then the formula isn’t for your hair.

    • @OzariaGrace
      @OzariaGrace 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      zzzCUPcake 123 yeah it’s just as bad as protein overload :(

    #1 is why I stopped going to the African hairbraiders. I got some micros and while the lady was braiding she kept yanking on my head and I told her she was braiding that particular spot too tight. When I took the braids out two of them took my hair out down to the scalp. That part of my hair no matter what I do to it now does not grow like the rest of my hair.

I started weekly when I transitioned and now I’m fully natural and celebrating my 3 years at the end of this month! My hair is always moisturized for the most part, unlike at the beginning (transitioning phase and big chop phase), I didn’t understand why my hair was so dry. Natural hair doesn’t have to always be dry, great tips!!! I always sleep in mine! I put my shower cap and put a t shirt over it😅I put my bonnet on as soon as I get home, lol. Bra off, bonnet on! Period! Lol. I use a silk bonnet and a silk pillow case. Just in case! You can get silk pillow cases for $1 at the dollar tree, in black. At SOME dollar trees!!! My mom found them! I purchased my scrunches at Tjmaxx or Marshall’s like 10 for $5.99, all black, satin scrunchies...anywho I do all dis...so I’m on the road to long hair!!! You ladies are hair goals!!!🥰😍😘

    I enjoyed this video! Happy to say I learned NOT to do each of these “dont’s” over the last few years from watching all of your hair videos! I grew my hair out to the longest length it’s ever been about 4 years ago (bra strap length) and I kept a good wash schedule BUT I forgot how vital it was to deep condition each time for my 4b/4C hair and all of my growth progress broke off in a matter of weeks (lost 5 inches of length). I was discouraged but now years later I have the length back and I never miss a deep condition now! ❤️ Also last week I discovered I have low porosity hair. I did the water cup test in which my hair strand floated on top (means that moisture doesn’t penetrate normally for me) and then once I deep conditioned and blow dried it, I took another strand and this one sank to the bottom of the water cup in no time. This let me know how the deep condition process allows moisture to penetrate the hair which allows it to be healthy and less brittle

    You guys hit the nail on the head. During the end of last year and beginning of this year I have been getting protective styles (feed in braids, box braids, etc) to give my hair a break cause I had got really bad heat damage and once I took the braids out the final time I noticed soooo much breakage. Some pieces are so short and broken off near my scalp I was so sad. This quarantine has been he time I really needed to start taking better care of my hair. Now I have a routine and stick to it and my hair is getting better. Still not where it was but I am sure with consistency it will get there.

    Awesome tips. I've started co-washing more and washing with shampoo a little less, and have noticed a big difference from that as well. And of course, I learned that from y'all too, lol.

    I thought I was deep conditioning enough, but I'm clearly not. I was the once a week shorty, but I'm going to kick it up a notch now. I also need to stop washing all my hair and just wash my scalp. Thank you for this great advice.

    Hello Twins! I ran across you 2 beauties while researching hair growth. I too am a Twin and I was for one researching mainly for my Twin who just had to shave her head bald months ago because she has cancer. I also wanted the info because my hair has fallen out over the years as well. I believe it's a combo of old age and chemicals from past relaxers & meds from surgeries. Both my Twin and I, at one time, had hair like you both and we want it back! And we didn't do most of the things you've recommended, especially the part about bonnets and scarfs. Simply because us O.Gs did not use those techniques back in the day because of the "male factor". It wasn't the most sexy look at night LOL! Now that times have changed we'll incorporate your dos and don'ts, along with the products I have seen you recommend on your older posts. Thanks so much and I'll keep you posted on our journey ;-)

    The dollar store has silk pillow cases too. I wear a bonnet but I have to admit I stopped using my pillowcase because it’s hot pink and my bedding is so nice and doesn’t match. That’s corny I know but I definitely need to invest in a soft pink one, grey blue or grey . Good video ladies

    I wear my hair in a bun on the top of my head 90% of the time. Recently I noticed that I had a lot of breakage around my crown area! Was thinking I had a health condition until stumbling across this video ( I don’t feel like Ill so must be the tension) thanks ladies will change it up and see if it helps x

    I'm anal about my satin or silk EVERYTHING, deep conditioning, pincurls after my winter only Dominican roller set, and only a wide tooth comb😁. Great reminders queens😍

    Thanks for sharing these tips. So interesting that y’all did this video today because last night I was rewatching your Straight Hair routines from last year (for the millionth time,lol). Y’all inspired me to go natural a few years ago. My last relaxer was October 2016 and I transitioned until March 2018. And haven’t used direct heat since Oct 2017 while still transitioning! Thanks to you ladies, one of the main things that I did from the very beginning was making sure to deep condition every single wash day. I sleep with a satin bonnet or scarf every night but I am going to order some of those pillowcases just to be extra, lol. Btw, y’all look amazing and those curls are POPPIN 😍

    I will correct changing my ponytails around because I notice breakage in one spot. I always wear a durag at night before going to bed!
