I watched the "Archives of American Television" early last year, featuring Betty White, & when she was asked about why she didn't remarry after the passing of her Beloved husband Allen Ludden, she said.. "When you've had the Best, Forget about the Rest." I told the Love of my Life, the same thing. Thank You Ms. White for you & Your Husband being the personification of what TRUE LOVE IS!! #RIHBETTYWHITE #RIHALLENLUDDEN #TOGETHERAGAIN
I met Betty White at a Museum of Broadcast Communications luncheon in Chicago as well as a Game Show Congress where she accepted a posthumous award for Allen Ludden. I also met Allen Ludden's daughter Sarah Ludden as I was walking by the karate studio where she works. I was leaving my office, and Sarah recognized me from the luncheon. When I found out who she was, I asked her "What's the password?" (because Allen Ludden hosted Password)
It's sad that the Goodson/Todman company is no longer in business. The revamped versions of the shows G/T used to produce are pale imitations of the originals.
I was watching Million Dollar Password and they showed actual footage of Allen and Betty and how they met on the original Password. It looked like it was recorded yesterday!
@weightfeather1 Somehow that doesn't surprise me, as Lucy played both "Password Plus" and "Super Password" with Betty, and Betty talked about how broke up Lucy was on "SP" when she heard about Desi Arnaz's passing. I think they were always close friends as well.
calalilygirl I know it's been 8 months ago.. but about the comment of Brett always being hostile to Betty, they was actually friends behind the scenes so I don't think much of it. She was friends with Allen too.
If I have a relationship as fabulous as Allen Ludden’s and Betty White’s, I would be thrilled to bits. P.S. it was so obvious that Brett was insanely jealous of Elaine Joyce.
There was considerable drinking during the lunch breaks, according to the panelists. Accordingly, sometimes you can tell which shows were taped after lunch.
I realize that this comment was made 6 years ago, but I have to make a correction: There were not 2 but 3 game show emcees. The obvious are Richard and Gene, and there was a 3 rd, Betty White. She hosted one called "Just Men."
I liked Match Game...rip Gene...it was funny...especially Charles......smittykins Sparkletts is water..don't you know??????...guess Charles must have been doing something if Gary "Radar" Burghoff had been in his spot...it's hard to believe Betty White is 90 huh y'all????...you could tell it was the '70s...check out Allen Ludden's suit!!!!!
"Speaking of milk, uh, Fannie..." Hilarious! But in today's humourless world, the host would be called out and canceled over his chauvinistic remark, and the show and network fined and sued because strong, empowered women aren't here to be jokes for the male sex fantasy. Ah, the good old un-P.C. days. Ah, Fannie's jugs.
I'm probably going to catch some "flack" for saying this but, I have never been a fan of Gene Rayburn, and I realize Allen and Betty were deeply in love, but I just don't find this episode funny. All these jokes were made at Allen's expense...and he (Allen) almost seemed apologetic when he handed his answer card(s) to Gene Rayburn. Allen appeared to laugh it off and be a good sport about it, but he looked less amused when Gene was hitting on Betty.
One of my favorite moments with Allen and Betty. We already miss you, Betty. Rest in Power.
When I watch this show I go right back to 1974. Love it. A great year and a great time in history. Great decade. Glad I was there.
Watergate... Gas lines... Inflation... Serial killers... And Up With People... Not exactly fun times.
Allen & Betty was always so in love :) They are so inspiring! Many couples should stop up and learn something from these people! Oh I just love them..
You are either that much in love or not. How do you learn to be in love,?
and they were in their 40s when then married, they made it work until he passed on
I love how Allen was crazy in love with lovely witty Betty
He did have a wife before her who died in 1961
They all still make me laugh! I LOVE that Betty White was there in the audience and they included her in!
1:15 - love it when Fannie would just randomly start singing.
I watched this show every day after school from forth grade on.
This is so funny. I love Betty White and her husband! Adorable story how they got together. Best ever. Thanks for sharing this. :)
I believe the lady in red sitting to the right of Betty is her mother Tess. She's the one Allen Ludden said "Hi doll!" to when hosting Password.
…hard to argue against that as she looks like Betty White dud in her later years
Betty looks like her mom.

Betty is always beautiful! - On and off camera! LOVE Betty and Allen!! They are the cutest couple, EVER! :D
That was a great show loved it
I love Betty White!
Speaking of milk, Fannie.

The love between these two 😭😭😭🥰
Gotta love Miss Betty!
She is Fannie Flagg, who wrote the book that inspired the move "Fried Green Tomatoes", and had an Oscar nomination for writing the screenplay.
Also, played a bit part in Five Easy Pieces with Toni Basil.
Dawson giving hell to the writers. And he was right, the question was too open-ended and didn't lend itself to funny answers.
I love when Fannie sings about the Moonshiners :-)
@weightfeather1 Somehow that doesn't surprise me, as Lucy played both "Password Plus" and "Super Password" with Betty, and Betty talked about how broke up Lucy was on "SP" when she heard about Desi Arnaz's passing. I think they were always close friends as well.
Betty maintained for the rest of her life that Allen had been her great love. They were married for nearly 20 years, but she outlived him by 40.
Allen and Betty
Didn't know Betty and Allen were married. The list of coolest actresses begins and ends with Betty White
calalilygirl I know it's been 8 months ago.. but about the comment of Brett always being hostile to Betty, they was actually friends behind the scenes so I don't think much of it. She was friends with Allen too.
Well that is good to know. Did not limited to, k that way on the air.
If I have a relationship as fabulous as Allen Ludden’s and Betty White’s, I would be thrilled to bits.
P.S. it was so obvious that Brett was insanely jealous of Elaine Joyce.
Milk seemed like a good answer to me. Funny stuff.
Must have been a fun show to work on... I think they all drank heavily. It kept them all in good humour.
There was considerable drinking during the lunch breaks, according to the panelists. Accordingly, sometimes you can tell which shows were taped after lunch.
TV used to be so much fun to watch
absolutely.. now it's all garbage
Was that Sue Ann Nivens? I love Betty!!!
What's cool about this is that you've got 2 game show hosts on this panel.
I realize that this comment was made 6 years ago, but I have to make a correction: There were not 2 but 3 game show emcees. The obvious are Richard and Gene, and there was a 3
rd, Betty White. She hosted one called "Just Men."
Actually, there were 4, Betty, Allen, Gene, and Richard.
@@stephaniestavropoulos1639 And won an Emmy for her work as host, too.
@JBWiz It was Betty's mother Tess.
Fannie should have given Betty a kiss.
I think the definitive response was "Sunshine".
I love the inside joke at 3:49. If you don't get it, search for bazooms, milk, fannie.
Elaine Joyce and Gary Burghoff worked in a short run comedy show for NBC around 1972 or '73 called _The Don Knotts Show_.
1970-71 season.
I Luv Betty white! She's Hilarious!
I said "sunshine"
i wish i lived in the US in the 1970s :)
i wish i lived in the 1970s!
You should be the contestant! Good answer!
That studio looks familiar...was Price is Right taped there?
Yes, same stage/studio
@@andrewkelley434 I recognize contestant row on the long shot at the start...
smittykins Sparkletts is a bottled water delivery service. They deliver to offices a lot for the water coolers
Was Betty White shown when this show was originally aired, or was that part cut out?
I said gasoline
Damn that's a great answer!! I couldn't think of anything that good, my stupid answer was water.. gasoline is great!
I'm assuming that was Betty's mother sitting with her.
i believe it was.......
Betty was wonderful in Golden Girls also!!! She is funny!!
Richard the English snob.
i think the perfect answer to this 1 would have been instead of moonshine, my stil made SUNSHINE!!!
Brett was hostile to Betty White often on the show. Jealous I guess.
Brett seemed Jealous of a lot of people, unless that was just her humour being rude ?
@weightfeather1 Yeah, Tess does have a resemblance to Betty, but of course her parents were where she got her great bawdy humor that she has today!
Speaking of milk... lmfao!
I would've said sunshine as my answer.
Ever watch Elaine lick her lips after the mention of Fannie's name @3:59 ? ;-)
Shoe shine?
tastes like Mountain Dew...
F making moonshine, it made SUNSHINE!!!!
I'm with matagorda5 below. I can't believe no one said Sunshine!
WTH are "sparklets"?
It’s a purified bottled water company in Los Angeles. You need to order drinking water in Los Angeles because tap water there is so nasty.
That's exactly what I thought
I liked Match Game...rip Gene...it was funny...especially Charles......smittykins Sparkletts is water..don't you know??????...guess Charles must have been doing something if Gary "Radar" Burghoff had been in his spot...it's hard to believe Betty White is 90 huh y'all????...you could tell it was the '70s...check out Allen Ludden's suit!!!!!
I think vinegar's the better answer.
Beth Di Bartolomeo fannie give to betty card answer
hey
Shoe shine
I would've said pee!
I thought milk too, not a horrible answer
Funny:D
speaking of milk....
Disagree we had wonderful television and wonderful music. Both were peaking.
I would have said sunshine because it's the opposite
Why no sound?
Fannie was a hottie!
I would've said 'urine'..
Me, too!
🕊️🕯️🙏🏼💗
Wow she kisses him
Did they allow intoxication on that show to some degree back then, lol?
Oh yeah. They taped a weeks worth of shows in one day. You could definitely tell which episodes were shot before "lunch" and after "lunch", lol.
It was called a "well-oiled buffet." :-)
I thought this winning contestant was great
Fanny Flagg
I have the perfect answer. .....Instead o
She was a lesbian with that gorgeous chest. It was not well known at the time in the 70's.
I was hoping she'd play at kissing Betty the same way Gene did.
I would have said PISS
Sounds like a good one, but I wonder if they could have gotten away with that one on daytime tv back then.
hardly.... bad fashions, hair styles...and politics..
Richard Dawson is 78 years old!!
Blood

This came was stupid!
this game is what inspired Family Feud / Fortunes

Get rid of Betty white and Brett summers!!!!
Teri Warzeka get rid of you and I find you sickening 😉
