I wish Fighting EX Layer Another Dash wasn't just on the Switch, its an entirely different game from Fighting EX Layer mechanics wise AND FUN FACT, brings back the Fighting Layer Announcer.

@@franciscor390 Yeah. They called it a sequel, had ENTIRELY different mechanics that they tested in a Steam Beta but never released it outside of Switch.
The supersweep gang needs more recognition. They've made so many amazing songs for games and people love their music. Still I never see praise directed toward the actual musicians the same way some other legendary game musicians like Koshiro and Naganuma get credit in the western world

Funny thing about Allen and Blair not being in EX3, their super moves from Fighting Layer can be used by Ace in Ex3.
Something that the updated release also misses is about the special/super finish: the finishing blow's Japanese name also appeared in the screen, similar to the MvC series. It looked pretty sick.
Hoping the GWQ magic strikes again and we get a rerelease, because this game's presentation and gameplay are excellent.

If we are praying for Fighting Game releases, I’d love the Neo Geo Fighter Kabuki Klash! The fighting game spin off of Far Eat of Eden! It’s really good and the closest PC Engine game to have an official arcade fighter. Great stuff, as always!

The red screen when you KO with a special or Barrage Blow actually prints the move's name character by character in the Japanese version, which is why it slows down for so long. This is useful for making move list pages for the unplayable characters who don't have pages on the website lol.

Hello guile, sorry for my bad english because i dont know if you take requests but by seeing you love obscure fgs i recomend you to check the Dual Blades and its sequels Slashers and Dual Souls
Dual Blades is a *Turkish* indie fg released on the *gameboy advance* , and one of the 5 gba games with M rating. By the gameplay you could say that is a mix between SamSho, SF3 and Guilty Gear, with things such as a roman cancel, parry, burst, super select and fatalities. The game also have an Arcade, training, survival, score attack, time attack and a *combo challenge / tutorial for a gba* and *A COMMAND LIST THAT EXPLAINS ALL SPECIALS AND UNIVERSAL MECHANICHS* , something that other gba fgs such as ggx, sfa3 and tekken didnt had for the console (and even other consoles).
About the gameplay most characters have simple inputs shuch as in Akatsuki, with them being quarter circles, down down, foward down and back foward (but they're not charge moves). The buttons are slash (kinda like a medium slash from sam sho, that you can do a 3 frame jab if you input foward too), big slash ( heavy slash, also grab foes if you press foward while close), kick ( a medium attack that if you input foward will be a 3 frame kick too) and the power button. The power button is special because if you tap two times you do a taunt that gains meter, and if you press power + slash you do an overhead. Also all supers are done with this button.
The gimmicks of this game are pretty intersting too, let me explain. There is a parry in this game that works exactly like sf3, input foward before getting hit (that is called block, because the game calls standart blocking guarding for some reason). Recovery, the roman cancel is done by pressing both slash + big slash while perfoming a move ( and costs some meter ). The burst is called breaker and is done by pressing back + slash + big slash while taking damage (costs a full meter bar). You can dash and back dash by pressing one of the side buttons two times.
Now the plot and characters are very unique in my opinion. The setting is a more *realistic take of the middle age* , but unhapply i didnt finished the arcade mode yet. The cast is composed of:
Kanae and Brendan are the shotos with all the toolkit of one and command grabs. She is a samurai wanting revenge and he is an adventurer who loves danger (His motto is nothing venture nothing gain) and simps for all women in the game.
Andre is a templar knight who is also a parry/ big body and maybe a grappler ( he is slow and have a follow up to his throw ). His taunt also throw a rose like dudley, and is a insanely good projectile. He fights to save his kingdom from the lizard people.
Efe is an ottoman warrior and a zoner with his high low mixup of projectiles. He fights for Türkiye as far as I know.
Rungard is also a zoner who cant dash but have a special teleport. He have fire, eletric and ice projectiles that give you unfair hit stun (he is a psycho who wants to destroy the world, thats it). He is based in a viking/ celtic sorcerer probaly.
Shin is a rushdown zoner with the most damaging and safest projectile in the game, its insane diagonal range is impossible to jump or crouch over it. To his design he is green testament who uses crows who loves the blood of a slit throat and people screaming ☠️ (Not even The Boys have that shi )
Nagashapa is an elderly Mongolian sorceress and farmer, who give you all kind of curses like no jump, no specials and backwards controller. She uses ghosts for those attacks.
And we have Jaman, one of the lizard man that attacks Andre's kingdom. He looks like a mix between an armadillo, akuma and blanca and plays exactly like those with the exception of summoning lizards for his attacks (also a 1 frame active overhead aimed at the foe).
Well, that its Dual Blades for today. I could say something about the sequels but thats another history. Also sorry for the big text.
The characters in this are way cooler than fexl. Man why didnt they bring any of these characters to fexl? That's my iasue with fexl, I just dont find 90% of the cast interesting at all. I hope your accidental magic works again. Arika talk to Namco and get it done please. I'd buy this rerelease in a heartbeat

Amazing video, as always. 1 o 2 months before you announced that you've bought the fighting layer board, I emulated the game, but didn't really knew what was I doing 😅 I just played Allen & Blair since I'm a sfex and fexl fan.

I wasn't born during EX1 and EX2.
However, through emulation, I played EX1 and Blair quickly became my main so you could say that I cried myself to sleep when I found out that she wasn't in the next two games.
I need this game bad and the OST for this game is timeless for real.

Okay, they really didn't kidding around with layers in Fighting Layer. That's quite a lot of mechanics for the time and a boxed in arena instead of an infinite stage or fighting ring was quite a rarity.

I rather like Blair's outfits in the second revision, so it's a shame to hear that comes from an objectively inferior version! Changing around outfits is one thing, but removing moves from the characters is just silly.
Fighting Layer was a surprise find for me, I was going though the Street Fighter EX games earlier this year and heard about this game being from the same lineage as those and the later Fighting EX Layer. Upon trying it out, I was immediately flabbergasted at its quality and completely indignant this never got any sort of home release, for this is genuinely one of the best fighting games I've ever played. And I've played a lot of them!
I can only hope and pray this game gets the recognition it deserves, either through some kind of re-release or somehow getting support on Fightcade.
Is still a crime that the "Layer" characters weren't allowed to live on in FEXL like the EX cast.

Hi I'm Allen superfans. God, i hope this game gets a port one day Fighting Layer and EX as a whole as been one of my fav series for decades. I need the respect to be put on their names!
considering Arika is playing ball with the tetris company to make (or depending on who you ask, remake) TGM 4, anything's possible
edit: have you checked which revision your board is? if the board is FTL0, which is the default in MAME, you should be able to turn regulation off in the operator's menu, additionally you can change the color of the hitspark....
if the revision is FTL3 those settings are locked away
