Yes people underestimate how athletic and agile foxes are. For example Red Foxes (Vulpes Vulpes) reportedly can jump over 6.5 feet (1.99m) from a standstill, run 45 mph (72kph), and their tail helps with balance like a cat.
@@gg-gn3re Dang that's an old typo I missed. Thanks for pointing it out. Edit: Side note I afterwards found out that the several sources I got that from seem to have messed that up (so I am glad you reminded me about it) the actual speed of a Red Fox is about 31 mph or about 49-50 kph.
@@themangle-laggle I'm not 100% certain but I get the impression that most foxes species aren't quite as good as cats at landing on their feet like that. However if one species of fox is as good as landing like that it'll probably be the Grey Fox species. I'm just guessing about the landing part but Grey Foxes are about the same size as most house cats and has retractable claws which let them climb straight up a tree just like a cat.
Yep saw that last night for the first time. We have 6ft high wood fences around our yards. I have befriended a mom raccoon, who i set dinner out ontop of the fence every eve. The last 2 nights she was geting none of it. I knew because the dish was empty and there was no food muck in the bird water dish. She has to soak all her food to mush. I was kinda stunned at the fox that had just eaten at the top of the fence then jump down into my yard. She got spooked and nearly cleared the fence in one bound. Few mins later back she came. Like a horse jumper. I worry about this one. i did see her about a week before, roaming the common open area behind my yard, in the later afternoon with the sun still up. And she was super skinny. Still super skinny. I feel kinda sorry for her, she must be desperate. She is probably the reason mom raccoon stopped bringing her 6, now 5 babies with her every night. They were old enough to eat solid food, but still a bit unsure on their feet. 2 nights in a row she left some behind in the tree behind my yard. The first time it was the 2 and they cried for hours. The next time she left the one and i think he tried to find his way back. Next time she came she had just the 5. They would spend most of the evening playing in my yard and the dog pool. They even took treats from me. But she has not brought them back in nearly 2 weeks now. She is not as sweet as my first raccoon friend 2 summers ago, when covid hit, I sat out at my patio all night with my own zoo. My daughters started calling me snow white. Dita the raccoon, 7 baby skunks and 3 possums. Dita treated the babies like they were her friends. One she would even hold down and hug. They never sprayed her. She and i used to play ball and tug. One night she backed up and ate her snack on my lap, because she did not like the possums. Then all of a sudden she stopped coming. Broke my heart. Anyway people need to be more careful leaving your small pets out in your yards un attended. I have to go and warn some of my neighbors. A skinny starving fox will be more brave. Lived here 20 years and have never had this happen before. The pandemic has also affected so many animals.
There is a red fox living in some brushes behind my backyard in a vacant lot. I see him often behind my four feet high chain link fence. I am assuming the chain link fence is a barrier to the fox and he is not coming into my backyard when no one is there or at night. Watching this video it seems i could be wrong. i have two small pets who are out in the backyard often. Last night around midnight i heard the fox howling and sounded like a cry.
I have just seen one, come through my garden. It's was stalling as to which fence to jump. It climbed up the fence using a wooden frame my brother put together. It then seemed to hesitate, on jumping down into the next garden. And when it did, i heard a bang. Hoping it not hurt itself. My fence 6ft with extended panelling it jumped over. Has been in before though.
Holy crap!!!! I had no clue!!! There goes my plans to get chickens....right over the garden wall... damn....I will really have a fox in the hen house!!!
Last night I lost 13 chickens to a fox. I had a chain link fence 7 foot high and he the found his way through a small hole to the chicken coop. Slaughtered all of them except one and only took 4 with him. Basterd.
A fox this morning jumped over my 8 ft high fence, wow i was stunned for a moment, this is a great video you have. ☺👍
You're commenting on every fox video
Definitely not
I'm not surprised, but it is still impressive to watch.

never knew 45kph = 72kph

They can jump just as well as a cat! Thanks🦊
I seen a fox jump from the grass to the top of my 9 foot back garden brick will. No one has ever believed me😂👍👏🏻
Darren Hamilton they certainly are very agile! 🦊
Amazing! Didn't realize they could jump back up the wall.

Very clever animals in Ireland.
I’ve always thought they have cat like qualities.
We see the similarities too 🐱 🦊
Effortless 👏🏽
You are a wonderful person for feeding this beautiful creature
You are so kind 🦔🐾🦔

Oh no the fox has agility of a cat and they also eat grass 😱😱🤯🤯
Ninja fox
Just like a house cat.
Oh my gosh, I had no idea
"Huh?! Can you fly?!"
Fox: "No, Jump good"
Half cat, half dog, 100% adorable.
Unless you're a chicken farmer in which case, tough.
Watched this because of minecraft foxes, wanted to see if they really jumped like in the game... yep.

They can be very noisy! 🦊
There's a vid on YT of a fox going up a tree chasing a squirrel.

You’d just have to make sure their home was very secure 🐔

I guess my six foot privacy fence isn’t going to keep foxes out…
Some foxes can even climbe up trees.
I've seen them easily jump an 8 ft fence
Some foxes can climb trees better then cats. Many types of foxes. All of them cute btw.
Now i can understand why they can survive in the cities
They continue to surprise us 🦊

This would explain the thumping on the roof. Cats being chased by Fox.

I don't think anyone ever said fixes cant jump
Now I don't understand why no fox has eaten my hens so far. Yesrerday I saw one and there is fox poo everywhere arounc my house.

yes, he can jump..
No one says foxes can't jump
