I started collecting Penguin English Library editions because I fell in love with how pretty the covers are and how lovely they look sitting together on a bookshelf. So far I have Jane Eyre (my favourite book ever), Sense & Sensibility, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (which is beautiful with pink flamingos), and The Scarlet Letter (Sherlock Holmes). Also, I like this version of showing us your book collection instead of a bookshelf tour. I feel its more organised and you can talk more about each of your books, and we can appreciate the lovely covers more as well! Love you, Sanne! x
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is my favourite cover with North and South coming in a close second. They're both stunning. I love these editions and can't get over how good they are for the price!
I have never clicked on a video so fast, I love the Penguin English Library editions! And this video gives some nice new 'to buy'/'to read' for on my own bookshelves. I would like to see more collections, it gives a look into your bookshelves in nice watchable chuncks.
These are one of my absolute favorites, too! Far from the Madding Crowd was my first one, and still could just stare at it whole day. Beautiful. Love how they create such a cute spine-rainbow - excited to extend my collection!
I love to see all of them stacked up like that! The colours are so stunning. I know you have quite a few Penguin Essentials (which is my favourite Penguin collection) so don't hold out on showing us those!
The Penguin English Library editions are my absolute favourites! I have House of Mirth by Edith Wharton, it was actually required reading for an English lit class and the prof requested that we get that edition and I was happy
I love this kind of videos! The Penguin English Library books are so gorgeous, especially the old ones with the rubbery covers. I only own a couple of them though, because I prefer annotated editions.
Don't have a photo of it, but if you've ever seen the 'Great Orwell' edition of 1984 by Penguin - beautiful (and clever!) concept cover. One of my favourites!
I adore the Invisible Man cover, I have the same one, although I only got half way through and never finished it. Will have to give it another shot. So many pretty books, I need more of these so I can have a spine display haha.
I really enjoyed the Invisible Man! It's relatively slowly paced compared to more modern books in the same genre, but I found it really interesting. I do think I enjoyed the first half or so more than the last bit, though, if I remember correctly...
Yes, wonderful! I loved Jean's edition videos, so bring 'em on! :) I also adore the penguin classic designs. Although I dislike the super matte texture (cause it gets dirty quickly), the desings are just flawless!
I just read War of the World's and loved it. I like that copy better than either that I have. Those are such beautiful copies. I think they are a bit harder to find in the states.
These editions are definitely some of my favorites!! I'd love to see more videos like this, looking at pretty collections of books always makes me swoon a little 😂
I loooove these editions. Definitely going to pick up a few. I love the Penguin drop caps/fabric-bound books. And B&N leather-bounds are my pride and joys.
Great collection, I really like the Penguin library editions, they are beautiful. I have Great expectations, The scarlet letter and the picture of Dorian Gray, I need to get some more soon!
The cover design for The Invisible Man looks really cool! I only have a couple of these editions but I can imagine that having a lot of those spines next to each other on my shelf would look great ^_^
I love Penguin English Library editions so much! I've just recently bought my first three after staring longingly at them for years. Definitely want a lot more, but am restricting myself to buying them as I read them!
i own 6 of them, i think my favorite is far from the maddening crowd or tess of the d'urbervilles, there is a ton more i'd like but iv kind of holding my breathe waiting to see if they bring back the old covers! haha i dont have any like that as i discovered them just as they where changing over.
I owned Frankenstein and it's really beautiful. I think my favorite covers from this edition are Frankenstein, Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, Great Expectations and Oliver Twist.
Wow those editions r so pretty. While I like those in my opinion the best classics r the barnes and nobles collectible edition. Those beauitful spines, gold trimmed thick pages r so beauitful and I'm obessed with owning them all in hardcover.
I have all of the shoe rock Holmes novels and short story collections, Alice's adventures in wonderland, Frankenstein, the tenant of wildfell hall, all of Charlotte Brontë's and Wuthering Heights. My favourite cover designs in probably Shirley, Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre. I kind of regret not purchasing all of Jane Austen's novels in this edition, but the vintage classics editions are just as stunning.
I own about 15 of those and I absolutely love the way they look together! My favourites are probably Villette and Frankenstein, but they are all gorgeous. But it really makes me mad that they don't do those super matte covers anymore - the new version doesn't feel nearly as nice and the colours aren't as bright. Why change them at all? They were just perfect the way they were before! Btw.: Yes to more videos like that!
Don't have any of these editions, but I do have several of the books in other printings! Let me think...Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, Far from the Madding Crowd. I have read the Time Machine and currently reading The Invisible Man (ebook edition)
I'm on a quest to read more HG Wells, too! I really enjoyed the Time Machine and the Invisible Man, and I'm currently reading the short story "The Story of the Late Mr. Elvesham" and I'm eventually intending to read the Island of Dr. Moreau! I love beautiful covers, and these are amazing
I have some books from this collection but that bright orange spine is not really my favourite thing. Love the covers though. I would like to see more collections because I am interested about there design
I love the Penguin English Library editions- they are just too pretty. I wish it was a little easier to get them in the US, although it's not hard to order them from Book Depository (I'm just too impatient and don't like to wait). Out of the ones you mentioned, I have Frankenstein and Far From the Madding Crowd. I also own The Invisible Man (though not in the PEL version), which I picked up at a book fair on a whim!
I started buying these books because of you, they are stunning!! Check out the Dracula one, it is one of my favourites! Thank you for sharing your collection - and enabling me to buy even more...
I only have one since I'm not a fan of paper backs / soft covers, The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens I would have bought it in the cloth bounds (which I have many and much prefer) but it doesn't come in the cloth bound editions. The English Library Edition was the only nice looking edition I could find.
Your flower pot is so cute! And I'm kind of sad to hear that you didn't like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, it's one of my favourites! Oh well, to each their own :)
The covers are so beautiful!! I specially liked the one of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, since it does sort of capture the spirit of the book, but it´s really creative how they came up with that cover for a novel of that nature :) Also, now you´ve made me wanna read Kim and Middlemarch!
Nice collection. Have you ever seen the Borders Classics editions from 2006? I love those and still collect them off ebay/amazon. I always loved the cover art and the text/pages they used were always easy on the eyes. Google 'borders classics 2006' to see what I'm talking about
My favourite cover is the Frankenstein one. Too bad I only found the novel alright. I had Penguin English Library editions on my wishlist as well as the Penguin Clothbound Classics. My boyfriend gave me two of the clothbound ones for Christmas (Sense and Sensibility and Oliver Twist) and they are SOOO beautiful. I am hooked so I want to continue with those over the PEL editions. :) I prefer hardbacks to paperbacks anyway and I don't really like the rubbery finish on the PELs so much. P.S. How brilliant is Coralie Bickford-Smith (the cover designer)?! I also have The Great Gatsby that she designed (the same as Sanne's) on display, the one with the copper-foiled art deco arches. Beautiful!
These are my favourite editions to be honest, I have Frankenstein but really want the Picture of Dorian Gray, Pride and Prejudice and Alice in Wonderland too!
I have three Jane Austens in the same edition and they are my absolute favorites (considering that I hoard Jane Austen. I have like... four? Pride and Prejudices...)
I have the Frankenstein one that I won from a booktube giveaway. I love it! I haven't read it yet though lol I love the feel of the cover. What would that be called? I was trying to figure it out from your other video that you made but I couldn't quite decide which one it belonged to
Thanks for this, it is a beautiful collection. But I wanted to buy "Dombey & Son" by Dickens in this edition and I can't find it anywhere! Since you work over there, could you tell me if they're going to reprint it or something?? The cover of the English Library was gorgeous!
I am actually currently reading The Woman in White, by Wilkie Collins, from the Penguin English Library collection. I got it, alongside Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, in a 3 for 2 sale of that collection. I really didn't like the colours of that Wuthering Heights cover though (altough I love the book), so I gave it to a friend for a book sale she was doing for school. I ended up getting the Alma Classics edition of this book, which I adore: www.bookdepository.com/Wuthering-Heights-Emily-Bronte/9781847493217?ref=grid-view
I really liked this video. and your channel in general! I'm sorry to be really annoying and people will hate me, but as "Wuthering Heights" one of my faves too I feel pressed to corrected its pronunciation. It's W - u - thering, not withering. I know I'm being a really annoying grammar person, but I love you and the book too much to let it go xxxx
They're sooooo prettttttyyyyyy.
love you ariel💕 I totally agree
Frankenstein is in actuality such a beautiful story. It's intelligent and despondent and nothing like I thought it would be.
I love how on the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde cover one of the eyedroppers is dripping onto the penguin logo! Very clever.
I started collecting Penguin English Library editions because I fell in love with how pretty the covers are and how lovely they look sitting together on a bookshelf. Ooo my favorites are the modern classics!! Large fonts and monochromatic spines! They look gorgeous together on a shelf.
sooooooo beautiful! I always drool whenever I see Choncey's penguin library collection too
gotta catch them all
These are one of my absolute favorites, too!
I only have The Picture of Dorian Gray, which is gray with peacock feathers, it's gorgeous though!
My favourite penguin collection by far!!!!
I love this kind of videos! The Penguin English Library books are so gorgeous, especially the old ones with the rubbery covers. I only own a couple of them though, because I prefer annotated editions.
I have Dracula in this edition and ohhhh wow, it's so beautiful. Garlic plants that make up a cross! Amazing
I love the Penguin English Library editions! I want them all !
I adore the Penguin English library edition, and it sounds so amazing to have an internship at Penguin! That would be such a cool experience.
The picture of Dorian gray is beautiful in the penguin English library copy!
Love that you kept the book slip in at 2.25. You're so authentic, Sanne 😀
+Khyan Keepin' it real!
The spines stacked together are so pretty :o I want a dress that looks like that
Don't have a photo of it, but if you've ever seen the 'Great Orwell' edition of 1984 by Penguin - beautiful (and clever!) concept cover. One of my favourites!
These covers are just so stunning. I have Wuthering heights, Pride and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby
I have some of these but forgot how stunning they were! I need to add to my collection again
Awesome video
I adore the Invisible Man cover, I have the same one, although I only got half way through and never finished it. Will have to give it another shot. So many pretty books, I need more of these so I can have a spine display haha.

I had to read Frankenstein for Uni this year, and I absolutely loved it as well!
I just read War of the World's and loved it. I like that copy better than either that I have. Those are such beautiful copies. I think they are a bit harder to find in the states.
I'm so in love with the English Library Editions! Though I hope they will change all the covers to the super matte one again ...
I also loooove these editions! I have Pride and Prejudice and Alice in Wonderland! They just look so freaking gorgeous on your shelf.
These editions are definitely some of my favorites!! I'd love to see more videos like this, looking at pretty collections of books always makes me swoon a little 😂
oh my, they are all so beautiful!
I loooove these editions. Definitely going to pick up a few. I love the Penguin drop caps/fabric-bound books. And B&N leather-bounds are my pride and joys.
oh my gosh, these are some of the most gorgeous covers ever
those spines put together look so GORGEOUS! I currently have 5 of the PEL editions and am looking forward to adding some more!
Great collection, I really like the Penguin library editions, they are beautiful. I have Great expectations, The scarlet letter and the picture of Dorian Gray, I need to get some more soon!
The covers are all gorgeous!
These are so beautiful! Love the covers and the bookish rainbow that the spines make on the shelf. :)
The cover design for The Invisible Man looks really cool! I only have a couple of these editions but I can imagine that having a lot of those spines next to each other on my shelf would look great ^_^
I have serious book envy right now! They're so pretty
I love Penguin English Library editions so much! I've just recently bought my first three after staring longingly at them for years. Definitely want a lot more, but am restricting myself to buying them as I read them!
I loved this Sanne! Please do more!!
I love all of the Sherlock Holmes editions of these! So gorgeous!
i own 6 of them, i think my favorite is far from the maddening crowd or tess of the d'urbervilles, there is a ton more i'd like but iv kind of holding my breathe waiting to see if they bring back the old covers! haha i dont have any like that as i discovered them just as they where changing over.

I love this video and this selection. 😍 I only have one which is Gulliver's Travels which has really cute anchors on it.

I love H.G. Wells! and those editions are so pretty! x

These are nice. They seem like paperback copies of Coralie Bickford Smith clothbound editions.
I love these editions! I have Wuthering Heights, The Time Machine and Frankenstein. I just started Frankenstein :)
I have some books from this collection but that bright orange spine is not really my favourite thing. Love the covers though. I would like to see more collections because I am interested about there design
Beautiful covers.
The covers were so nice!
I love the Penguin English Library editions- they are just too pretty. The English Library Edition was the only nice looking edition I could find.
I only own Huck Finn in this edition, but seeing this makes me want to get more. Maybe some H.G. Wells too :)
I would love to see a video of all your editions of Wuthering heights and more books that you have more than one edition of (:
Your flower pot is so cute! And I'm kind of sad to hear that you didn't like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, it's one of my favourites! Oh well, to each their own :)
I love these edition videos! Btw, I love love the decorations in your room
you have some fine Penguins. very cool. thanks for posting
Is there something more beautiful? Oh my!!!
I love my Heart of Darkness :) its cover's colour scheme is almost the same as the Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Very nice. Could you ask the powers that be to bring back the laminated versions? 👌The newer ones aren't as good.
Please and thank you.
+Ash H Sanne and I, and a few others, actually have asked Penguin to do that, ha :)
+Jen Campbell Oh really? Haha, sweet! I hope they take your request on-board!
+Ash H As opposed to the super matte waxy, rubbery finish or do you mean something else?
They don't do the super matte finish on their new editions (and I'd like it back :) )
These are my favourite editions to be honest, I have Frankenstein but really want the Picture of Dorian Gray, Pride and Prejudice and Alice in Wonderland too!
HG WELLS! :) my favorite! You must read the time machine!
Is that book about weird mini sentinent furry creatures? For some reason I'm remembering the film being like that? Not sure.
I have three Jane Austens in the same edition and they are my absolute favorites (considering that I hoard Jane Austen. I have like... four? Pride and Prejudices...)
I want them all!! I love these editions

I absolutely love these books and your necklace! In fact can I ask where its from? It so cute!!! xx
Love these types of videos :)
I think the design on The War of the Worlds cover is supposed to be the flu that finishes off the aliens?
Thanks for this, it is a beautiful collection. But I wanted to buy "Dombey & Son" by Dickens in this edition and I can't find it anywhere! Since you work over there, could you tell me if they're going to reprint it or something?? The cover of the English Library was gorgeous!
