    I believe that we all have a soul, something that is deeper, more meaningful, and more essential that just our bodies. Our soul is what make us what we are. This piece, the interpretation, is a reflection of who you are... this is your theme , is yours now ;).

    There's something majestic and grand and overwhelming yet still reassuring about Time's melody and your take on it. It's like being swept away by a force of nature that is incomprehensibly large and feeling like it's okay, that it was meant to be, in just 7 minutes.
    The songs you share with us here have such range - a gentle summer walk with Spirited Away, melancholic memories of what-could-have-been with 5 Centimeters per Second, a wild and tumultuous battle against Mora the Spider - but you seem deeply connected with each song, like you become part of the melody and the performance a little while. Thank you for sharing with us. :)
    I apologize if this is too personal, but do you feel a particular connection with Time? When you wrote, "that was already my third take on "Time" on this channel. I've never stopped playing it though" ... that's interesting.
    I'm probably projecting onto you, but I feel strongly connected with a few songs/movies/works of art in ways that don't make sense to other people, and that I can't quite explain with words, myself. I just... *feel* them, and revisit them often. There's comfort in knowing they exist, and inspiration in thinking I might one day create something that other people think and feel things about.
    And I wonder if you have a similar connection with Time.
    Either way, I'm grateful that you continue to share your Time with us.

    • @Caliko
      @Caliko  4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Thank you for the lovely comment! Time is simply the most natural thing for me to play - I don't know how to better explain it than, I can just think about what I feel like showing and the way I play it just... happens. It's never quite the same, half-improvised, and it plays itself while I get lost in thought.
      I think it's natural to feel connected to some works of art, though! Isn't that the entire point? There are movies out there which have made me rethink my view on the world and those which I could rewatch endlessly. I usually get very attached to the soundtracks of those movies, like Time! Or On the Nature of Daylight, or the Interstellar theme

    • @Caliko
      @Caliko  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm kind of curious what tricks those might be! It's interesting since the way I play is also one big mix of what I've learned from other youtube pianists

      @@Caliko back when I was actively working on Eternity of Lightwaves (Final Fantasy X-2) I would often have the sheet music open in one tab and your video in the other. Some parts of that piece are very fast/technical so I would regularly refer your video to study how you tackled them.
      Edit: and sometimes just to listen to it because it's performed so we'll.

I only realised what it was after I'd started playing it. I was curious what an elaboration on this theme might sound like at a level of musicality which I haven't quite reached myself, and your video popped up at the top of the list.
