- This is yet another rare piece of lost media from Island's promotional 'Hard To Get Vol. 1'. This track, however, is much more obscure. All that I could dig up on this song was that it was released in 2003 and is a cover of a song by Sigur Rós , an Icelandic songwriter. The original song was released in the year 2000. The song's title is Icelandic for "New Batteries". Thursday, the band that covered the song, is from New Jersey.

I love this song. I wish Thursday come out with some new tunes.
I first heard this more than a decade ago at the end of a War All the Time torrent I downloaded. It's what got me into Sigur Rós. Thank you for the upload.
Originally Sigur Ros fan and was pleasantly surprised and totally dig this cover.
Also a bonus track on the Japanese version of War All The Time. Makes a good epilogue following Tomorrow I'll Be You

Someone who speak Icelandic could confirm me that Rickly's pronunciation is alright?
Very hard to understand, mostly sounds like a made up language. Most Americans sound like that when they try to pronounce Icelandic words.
Geoff's pronunciation is pretty on with how it's preformed on the source material, but it's not fair to ask if he's saying anything correctly in a specific language since Sigur Ros themselves sing using their own made up gibberish language rather than a strict Icelandic vernacular.
@@nechoha That's only on occasion, most of the time they're speaking standard Icelandic. The made up gibberish language wasn't used on Ny Batteri
I'm not Icelandic but I speak Norwegian and I'm learning Icelandic, and no, it's pretty far off (you don't really have to have knowledge of Icelandic, just open up the lyrics, play the original Sigur Rós version while reading the lyrics & then play Thursday's version while reading the lyrics. Geoff's pronunciation is quite different. For example at the end of the third line, "á mig," Geoff pronounces á as "ah," but Jónsi pronounces it as "au" (which is how I learned it's pronounced)). It's still a very enjoyable cover though
it's actually extremely distracting. really really bad tbh. i'm a huge thursday and sigur rós fan but i just can't listen to this version at all
