Speaking of where rain starts. I got chased by the rain once. It was about a foot behind me as I was running and the clouds were moving. One of the coolest things ever to happen to me. I managed to not get wet and noone believed me. I ran for about 20 minutes.

We were on a kayaking trip to France when there was a grass fire next to the car park. Apparently little known fact: locusts are just plain ol’ grasshoppers. However, after drought conditions give way to a burst of vegetation growth, some species of grasshoppers that are otherwise completely harmless just go a little… nuts. They reproduce like MAD, suddenly decide they like hanging out with other grasshoppers, and they *swarm*, eating everything in their path. Luckily, they’re herbivores!

So, sort of. It’s not that all locusts are simply “grasshoppers that went mad” but rather that locusts are a relatively new sub species of grasshopper. All locusts are grasshoppers, but not all grasshoppers are locusts (in the way that all lions are cats but not all cats are lions). The locust species (there are about 12 locust species out of about 1200 grasshopper species) is a relatively new evolutionary occurrence. However it should be noted that grasshoppers are known to occasionally swarm, but this does not make them locusts. Locusts are biologically wired to act like normal grasshoppers, however when their population density increases it cause not just behavioral changes but physical changes as well. This is what triggers a locust swarm, and why they are always massive. It’s the act of them swarming that makes them aggressive in the first place. We can rest easy now. The grasshoppers on your lawn won’t murder you just cause the weather permits I promise

When she told me that it wasn't raining outside I thought she just hadn't looked outside or something. I had the impression that rain was a simultaneous worldwide event and if was raining in one place, it was raining everywhere else in the world.

okay, the rainbow one reminded me of something cool. recently I lost a family friend to colon cancer. after her funeral, my friends family was driving home. (they lived close to her, has to pass her house to get to theirs) and there was a rainbow. the drove all the way past her house, and my friend looked over, and the rainbow ended in her backyard. oh, and it was a double rainbow.

Reminds me of how after my grandpa died my family took a small trip and in the family picture we took in front of a huge rock structure there was this glowing haze. Almost heavenly. I don’t even know how to explain it. It was beautiful, like the rocks or something behind it was glowing. But it wasn’t there in real life, only the picture. And it wasn’t lighting because we took many pictures in many places, and the background always glowed. We think it was gramps saying hello.
