Hello! I have a Bachelor’s degree and will be getting my TEFL soon. I would love to move to China, but have become a bit hesitant because I’ve heard some other english teachers in China saying that the future for foreigners in this field isn’t looking very bright considering recent policy shifts regarding training centers, as well as the general sentiment not wanting foreigners there anymore. is there any truth to this?
Hello. Yes it’s true about the training centres. However if you have a degree and tefl you could get a job at a normal school. Trust me it’s much better than a training centre anyways. Monday to Friday and all of the Chinese holidays off with pay.
I’ve been interested of trying to teach for a while now. Any recommendations on where to look? I’ve read some horrible experiences. I have a bachelor degree and 150 hour TEFL certificate.
Definitely give it a try. You may really enjoy it. You will never know until you try. I’ve only ever been in Guangzhou. Was supposed to come for 6 months in 2014 now I’ve been here nearly 10 years. If you are considering China try to get into one of the big cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen or Shanghai. If you like warmer weather all year then consider Guangzhou or Shenzhen in the south. If you would like more of 4 seasons then consider Shanghai or Beijing.
Does your school mind your tattoo's? I'm going to Shenzhen pretty soon to teach English and I'm very curious if the schools mind if your tattoo's are showing.

You will then need to have your degree notarized and then authenticated by the Chinese consulate in your home country as well as complete a criminal record check and also have it notarized then authenticated by the Chinese consulate in your country.
Great video Taylor I'll watch the new uploads - I'm moving to Zhuji in February to teach at a Primary School. Interesting to see you're at an anytime fitness as I currently train in one at the UK. My first plan will be to setup my kitchen and find a decent gym. This looks like the type of routine I will have although I will have no office hours so just turn up before classes.
The local people that are from Guangzhou or Guangdong province will speak Cantonese but usually can all speak mandarin as well and people from outside of the province speak mandarin. It's more useful to learn mandarin because its nice widely used
