This is really helpful. I am traveling this week. I was wondering if you tape the sticks bag to a normal check bag, will it count as one?

Not all airlines count stick bag as a separate bag.

Yeah my usual airline counts a stick bag as 1 bag with the hockey bag.

    LUGGAGE TIPS 1, 2, 3
Tie two or three colored ribbons around the handle to your luggage to warn others that this is not their luggage. People grab luggage at the turnstile and take it home before you ever see it.
Anywhere you put your bag, it could be grabbed in error. Example: overhead compartment, unloaded from the bus, at the hotel lobby, at the airport turnstile...
These ribbons make your luggage different and EASY TO SPOT when the piece is surrounded by 35 other cases unloaded from the bus.
Use 1” wide ribbons 14” long and not longer. Cut the ends at 45 degrees.
Scissor cut trim the ribbons to cascading different lengths after they are tied. Put a drop of Super Glue at the end.
If each ribbon is slightly a different length by 1/4” the color layers will all show up no matter how they drape.
Tie the 3 ribbons as a sandwich, as if they were one ribbon. Use a man’s tie, a half Windsor knot for the best look. After it is tied on, the total length of the ribbons will be about 5 inches from the handle. This is too short to catch on anything.
    Half Windsor knot tying
    th-cam.com/video/S_ny-hrKqzU/w-d-xo.html
You can see this ribbon from 40 feet away. Perhaps tie TWO handles or RINGS top and side of the case. This way, it won’t slide around. This knot does not loosen.
Put your phone number on one ribbon using a permanent Sharpie.
    Example: “Owner 454-333-7878”
    No personal name necessary.
No address necessary on the ribbon.
Choose one ribbon with an unusual pattern or fabric to really make it unique.
Stand by the output port of the turnstile to reduce the chance of someone else grabbing your piece.
Tie your skiies, duffel bag, backpack and what ever else with matching ribbons-even your computer case.
If you are a Travel Agent, you could hot gold stamp one ribbon with your name and phone number. Send them a set of ribbons, red and blue and BLACK to your customer as a gift. Record this gift in your database so you don’t duplicate yourself.
Buy a gold hot embossing machine. Gold emboss your business name on the BLACK ribbon. Put the customer’s name on it if possible.
    Pleasant color combinations:
    Red and blue
    Chartreuse and purple
    Orange and light blue
    Orange and yellow
    Gray and pink
    Green and yellow
    Red and Green
    Red and Gold
    Light blue and light green
The third ribbon could be white, gray, black, tan
Tip #2 Take a cell phone picture of the ribbon tied on. Then another picture of the full luggage piece. You now have a way to communicate “what it looks like” if someone is tasked with searching for it. Take this picture outside in direct sun.
Tip #3 Place a strip of colored duct tape on the inside lining to your case. Put your name and phone number on this tape. If all identity is stripped from your case, you have this to show. If someone steals it and rips off identity tags, you can show the police officer the inside tape...
Take a screen shot photo of this tip. Then send it to others..

Whenever I fly delta they always let the stick and back count as one piece. They say that the sticks count as a coat piece for the bag.
Oh yeah and about the wheeled bag. I always just hook it onto the top of my suit case sticking with the standard hockey bag. This allows for wheels with a cheaper bag.

Good idea about taping multiple sticks together however I have seen the airlines argue that you get maximum of 2 sticks. Additionally, on a recent flight my son's sticks got damaged in their Bauer bag. The airline said, sorry, you don't have your bag in a hard case so we're not responsible. The sticks came through the carousel with all the other luggage instead of through the oversized area. The luggage agent admitted that it was their screw up and it should not have gone on carousel but they said, call customer service and they couldn't do anything and wouldn't file a claim there on the spot. Luckily we snapped photos when it was on the carousel so you could see the tears to the bag and damage to the stick.

  • @jokerwine

I'm pretty sure that most airlines allow no more than 2 sticks taped together as a checked item. How can you check 4? Do they bypass if there's a stick bag?

This is a stupid question, but this is a question I've been wanting to know and to be answered.. Can you hand-carry (Backpack/Luggage) Ice Hockey Skates which will also include the steel but it has the guards or socks on? It doesn't where they're in just any of the two possible? Or will they have to be also checked-in with your other bags and luggage's through the conveyor and into the plane? (That's Three Questions I want to know.)

The thing about travelling with your sticks is that the cost to check baggage both ways can cost just as much as buying a brand new stick. You're better off just buying a new stick once you get there, if you know you can do that. But then you have to worry about how you're going to get it back... ugh, theres no winning

This off topic but the video you made on custom CCM skates. Are the custom skates made in Canada or are they made in Vietnam like the regular off the shelf model. I’m looking at possibly treating myself and replacing my 5 year top spec Jetspeeds with the FT2 or AS1s. I really want to get the new CCM runner with quick change runner system. Right now I have the TUK risers but the springs are starting to get soft. Bottom line if I’m going to buy top spec custom skates because I play 3 times a week I want them made at CCMs factory in Canada and not in Southeast Asia. Thank you for any insight in the process.

hey the custom made ones are made in canada you can rewatch the video if you want because in the beginning he is saying they are made in montreal

@@hanzusmc7898 there i cant give you an adequate answer i only watched the Video and personally i am a sucker for CCM Skates and use the ribcore 70k Model because in Germany its the cheapest high end line skate for 500 bucks (in comparison the jetspeed cost around 800-1000) and i reallyyyy Love them but the ft2 with the one piece boot frame and the better power transfer should be even more amazing :)

I have 4 of the Conway bags and sadly they don't hold up well. Really wanted to love them . Wheeled option for that may have been different for durability, But I'm here specifically to find a bag to fly my kids gear in because her Conway and banks bag I don't trust not to fall apart with the airline considering ours fall apart just using them at hockey lol.. popped zippers ,sliced bag sides, and fraying on all of the dividers. They have awesome customer service tho and are from my home town. Bag just needs some help.
