- From the early 2000s until the early 2010s, just about every animated movie had a video game tie in released. In this video, I go through a few Pixar video games from this time, to see if they still hold up today.
I should note, this video was originally made in 2021, and I just never finished it. I figured I would touch it up and post it now, cause why not.

NEW VIDEO OUT NOW! Looking Back at 2000s DISNEY Games
th-cam.com/video/3BWfszypnjQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SBxarvw3Ard_PIwt
Actually Monsters Inc on the PS2 was rushed because the studio who made it shut down before the movie's release and the devs had to finish it at home and a lot of content (including playing as Mike) was left out
That game could have been so much.. but so So much better.. I really like games like these shown in the video.. just makes me sad how many games that could have turned out good went out on the window because stuff like this.
@@NoName-bk3ov did you research it?
The Toy Story 3 video game was so good that it was literally the basis for all of Disney Infinity.
My personal favorite will always be the original Cars: The Video Game.
I have so much nostalgia for it, and I also want to highlight how cool it is that pretty much the entire cast reprised their roles from the movies for this game. To me, this game’s plot and cutscenes are the true Cars 2.
I just realized that due to that, everyone from the movie that was in the game, their voice actors now have at least one video game acting credit.
The "Maternational" sequel to this game is fantastic too. Even better than the original.
@@spiderturtle5292debatable. Track design is much better, but the areas that you can explore are more enclosed. Also the writing is a bit more safe, namely Lightning doesn’t have the cockiness he’s known for.
Toy Story 3 also had 3 versions just like Wall-E. The Avalanche version (PS3 and Xbox 360), the Asobo version (PS2, PSP) and the n-Space version (DS)
What’s the difference between each version?
@@airspoon6 they are all practically different games
@@RandomGreenKirbthe PS3 one isn't outside of the Zurg mode, but the PSP version is drastically different
What’s the difference between the basic DS version and the “to the rescue” version? I played the latter as a kid and don’t recognize the footage of the former
I believe the avalanche version is also available on Steam
Hating on the DS just because of graphics is part of what is wrong with this generation 😢
I remember the graphics being far better, although my main issue was the controls and gameplay. Even by DS standards I feel it was low
I absolutely love old licensed games!
They have a certain charm to them
We need to bring them back.
@joshslater2426 sony are porting some often
@@JackamoJoness probably the controller amd tv
@@ofiradler7392 making new ones not porting old
Wall-E equivalent of bhopping is madness, I love it.
There’s a Wall-E meta
9:32 Funny you should mention it, Disney went on to make a full blown Toy Story game that’s centered around the Buzz Lightyear video game 3 years after the Toy Story 3 game came out.
The best part about it is that it was technically a campaign for their crossover game… that being Disney Infinity. So yeah we did get a Toy Story game centering around the Buzz Lightyear game. It’s just in… Disney Infinity.
I had no idea that existed. I played Disney Infinity years ago, but mostly for the sandbox mode. I'll have to go back and look at the adventure campaigns in that game.
As a kid I played the Wall-E video game a lot but I think a game I really enjoyed was Ratatouille (Specifically the one on Xbox 360).
I had played Ratatoullie on Xbox, as well as on the PSP. I never got too far in either game, though. I might check it out again in the future
Same for me, Wall E and Ratatouille both on PSP, great great and quality stuff
Just spoiled the entire Wall-E movie. I don’t know how to live anymore.
The movie is 16 years old
How have you NOT watched that masterpiece yet?!
That movie is (an exact month) older then me. No way you didint have the time to do it.
Wait until you find out they’re all cannibals😂
@@teenageapple3788no excuse for spoilers tbh, like you prolly never saw citizen cane
I feel more justified in wishlisting Wall-E on steam now, the game looks surprisingly good :D
It is definitely worth it. I had lots of fun with it.
This is my favorite game from childhood and I completed it many times. It's not perfect, but it's good enough. I had it on disk, now I bought it on Steam, but mostly sometimes I play it on my phone using a psp emulator. nostalgia 😢 (I played PS 2/PSP version on PC)
I played the steam version some time ago. It's based on the PS2 version. Pretty good game I must say!
My favorite game was Ratatouille. I had both PS2 and 360 versions, but man, the PS2 one hits hard
Monsters Inc on PS2 didn’t even come out in 2001. It came out four months after the movie released, in March 2002.
Also as someone who did play it as a child and has a lot of nostalgia for it, I did indeed love it back then
Arnt you everywhere?
The Pixar game I remember playing as a kid was the cars games, called maternational and race o Rama, cause it had that open world driving feeling, and it’s awesome. Fun times.
I had the original Cars game, as well as Race o Rama. I'll have to look back at them eventually
Ohh, I had those too. I also had the mater-national championship. That was my favorite
9:29, they did on the PS1. It was called Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (based on the TV show of the same name). It wasn't very good
I’m considering playing that, too
Fun Fact: The Monsters Inc. PS2 game was actually so bad that instead of releasing it in Europe, they just ported the PS1 game instead.
that's hilarious
And even that port got screwed that the PS1 version ironically looks better in many ways (except for the character models obviously)...
Yeah I was like I don’t remember it looking like that.
I’ve got a strange nostalgia for the Monsters Inc game (I’ve never played it) mainly because there was an ad for
It on my old Toy Story 2 VHS, that made me wanna play that game so BAD!
That’s super cool. I always loved the ads shown before DVDs and VHS movies, they were always really interesting
WALL-E is unironically one of my favorite movies to look at games of. Flash games on the old website, the handheld stuff like the puzzle platformer for DS, and of course these console versions that are surprisingly pretty good. Nice to see people are covering stuff like this now.
The walle game is so nostalgic for me, I’ve replayed it fully 3 times It’s genuinely my favorite childhood game
And yeah those deaths animations were pretty terrifying lol
The Cars 2 video game on the Wii was one of my favourite games as a kid, and looking back I can say it’s a solid tie-in racing game with a lot to offer. Say what you will about the film (I personally love it), but the game is pretty good.
Toy Story 3 is one of my favourite of all time, what an underrated classic. Such fun gameplay and insanely creative game design.
Absolutely
I love how he doesn't even explain why the visuals are glitching for the toy story 3 game, I feel like it's emulated unless that's how the game actually is
Yeah it's for sure emulated, and that's most likely PS3 emulation based on button prompts, so that makes sense!
4:44 The Simpsons Road Rage also had that dated quality to it too.
Woah! You deserve WAY more than 200 subs! I just realised how little attention this video got. Awesome job!
I enjoyed toy story 3 on my xbox 360 so much back then. Glad somebody is giving it justice
That game genuinely is so good. I was so impressed by it when I played it again
One difference in the story of the WALL-E games vs the movie is that EVE gets zapped by AUTO and WALL-E fixes her shortly after.
But in the movie, WALL-E is zapped by AUTO and EVE can't fix him until the Axiom returns to Earth.
Yup. This is because the original cut of the movie had Wall-E fixing EVE, but it was changed last second. You can find the original scene online, they had it animated and everything.
@@JackamoJoness They did show the original Garbage Airlock scene, but they haven't shown the scene where AUTO shocks EVE for some reason.
I would love to see that scene someday.
I really enjoyed this video, good work! I'd love to see your thoughts on other similar games from this era, like Chicken Little on PS2
These games always had SO MANY bugs and glitches that made it so much more fun
It's part of their charm
Interesting seeing this video pop up! About a month ago, I decided I'd replay "Monsters Inc: Scare Island" for the PS1. Hadn't played it since I was a kid, and I remembered it being incredibly fun. Nope! VERY VERY tedious gameplay lmao.
One that still holds up, though? "Bugs Bunny and Taz Time Busters" man! Its a light collectathon in the style of like, Mario 64. You've got the center hub world with a bunch of themed levels extending from it. Genuinely surprising quality for a licensed game of the early 2000s.
I know there’s another Monsters Inc game, but it’s about dodgeball. I’ll check out the Bugs Bunny game
I remember loving Wall-e, the incredibles, ratatouille and monsters inc scare island for the ps1
So much nostalgia for them
AHHhhh yes the walle psp game. How to drain the battery in 2 hours
Man Wall-e on PS2 its such a good game, with good mechanics. And Toy Story 3 on the DS was good too
I had so many of these! I owned Wall-E for PS2. I also had the Ratatouille game. There was also a dope Chicken Little game that followed the adult characters in space (that one is sick af.) And then I also had Monsters Inc, but I'm pretty sure I owned it for the PS1. They're all sitting in my closet still.
Toy Story 3 was the first Xbox 360 game I ever remember playing. I can still hear the ambience from Woody’s Roundup. I still even have the original disk and play it time through time on the series X.
I can't believe someone has played my entire childhood games
175 subscribers???
Great video production dude! I'd love to see your channel grow.
Love this man! Wishing you success!
There's actually 3 versions of toy story 3:
1. Xbox 360 / ps3 / wii / steam
2. Ps2 / psp
3. Nintendo ds
All very different
Yeah I just played the PS2 version, it’s pretty good. I might cover it in another video
On the note of using movie clips for cutscenes, old tie-in games used to do that all the time.
I remember Chicken Little and Matrix, Path of Neo both doing this a lot.
Wow, aside from the games this is like an insanely well put together video, the editing, scrip and over all vibe is like perfect. Feels like golden era in 2016. Great video man please keep it up
I watched a lot of channels like PBG back in 2016. Heavy inspiration from that era lol
I used to have a game of wall-E on my ds, oh boy it’s very nostalgic to me
wow, I want full buzz lightyear game
You play as Buzz through the entirety of Toy Story 2! Was one of my favorite games as a kid. Sony even added it to the modern Playstation Store a few months ago. Controls are a little clunky since its PS1, but it holds up well.
There was also Buzz Lightyear of Star Command for PS1 and Dreamcast. It was just re-released on PS4 and PS5 last month
@@qrowing That game is one of my core childhood memories.
@@watchpointoh3354 That game taught me how to mix colors!
yay new favorite youtuber!!! keep making fun video essays :)
Aye thanks! I’m working on a few videos rn, so SOON
My personal favourites from my childhood were Wall-E (PS2), Toy Story 3 (Wii) and Ratatouille (PS2). If you enjoyed Wall-E I recommend you try Ratatouille because it has a fun story to play through with plenty of side content/mini games and the controls are 👌
Great video bro if you continue with this contest without no doubt you will be big
Cool video, surprised ur a small TH-camr
I honestly loved Monster Inc on PS2, and still replay it here and there.
And once RPCS3 gets more progress will play through more Wall-E again.
Only two Pixar Games I remember having.
Oh yeah I absolutely enjoyed Monsters Inc. it absolutely had its problems, but it’s still fun. And yeah, I wanna emulate the Xbox 360 Wall-E game. At the time I made this video, the game was incompatible with any emulators
@@JackamoJonessThe Xbox version is the same as PS3 and Wii anyway. Sadly Wii has no widescreen
Damn Wall-e and Ratatouille were the goats, cars was also pretty good and i fondly remember one ice age game
I had Toy Story 3 on my DS back in my childhood. Looking back the game was kind of scuffed, but I enjoyed it so much.
I loved it as a kid, absolutely. It’s kind of hard to play now, the controls are not great
I remeber the toy story that u played and tried playing it but I ended up playing the one where Rex does the whole dialog ur for toy story 3
I plan to do another video including that game
Until you mentioned wall-e, i forgot it existed. im going to replay it for nostalgia, i loveed that game as a kid!
It's totally worth it
damn, now I'm shocked knowing I'm not the only person who played toy story 3 on the DS when I was younger.
My first games were the Toy Story 2 game and disneys dinosaur on ps1. While the latter wasn’t great Toy Story 2 still holds up
Having parts of the movie instead of cutscenes was actually common. In disney games especially before the levels those were the cutscenes. I would assume was to cut costs
Just bought Wall-E for the xbox and beat it for first time after years of not playing and well I like it, love the Good Intentions level,
I need to go back and play the Xbox version of Wall-E. I never got too far as a kid with it.
You forgot to mention the awesome split screen multiplayer on Wall-E. I don’t remember it much since it’s been a while but I vaguely remember you can play tdm on the Axiom and other maps with 2 Wall-Es holding Eves arm as their gun. It was a blast to play.
That was on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, but yes, I loved that.
Monster inc and toy story now in KH 3 and damn the quality are just like the movie.
Me and my friends used to play the battle mode in wall-e on the xbox 360 and had a lot of fun
I forgot about that completely. Loved playing that with my cousin
I have the psp version of the game but it’s different than the PS3 version since it doesn’t have a open world level
nice video! you should do a pt 2 covering more :)
Soon
The music for WALLE is amazing
Great video! Although I do wanna see more games you haven't played. Ever played Cars Race-O-Rama or the other monsters inc. game?
I’ve played almost every Cars game, and I’ll be covering them in the future. As for the other Monsters Inc game, nope. Maybe I’ll cover it in the future
Wall E,Toy Story and Epic Mickey were my childhood
I never played Epic Mickey. Maybe I’ll try it out
2000s Pixar games…
And you didn’t even look at Cars?
It’s even more apparent when he covered Toy Story 3…
And that game came out at the start of the 2010s.
I do plan to cover Cars in the future. I loved that game growing up.
I honestly forgot Toy Story was in 2010. Oops. @@ShockwaveFPSStudios
man I saw Monsters inc. and I thought you were gonna play Scare Island XD That was my childhood game and despite the nostalgia I have for the game... It does not hold up well graphic-wise. I completed it a few years back but the graphics were just polygons galore. Overall I think it's an okay game, after you get over the horrifying bad graphics but that may just be nostalgia talking haha
the charm you speak of is probably just nostalgia
I don’t have nostalgia for the monsters Inc game but I feel like it also has that charm. Something about the simplicity
I remember begging my parents to get me the Toy Story 3 game, there was literally nothing else in the world I cared about at the time.
I still never got to play it :(
It’s one of the few games I would recommend even today. It holds up incredibly well. You could play it now and still enjoy it
i LOVED the Toy Story 3 game as a kid, very faithful to the movie
One of the best video game tie-ins ever
Loved the video, MAKE A PART 2
That's the plan ;). I'm working on an old Disney games video, as well as an old Dreamworks games video. Maybe I'll do another Pixar games video, since there's so many to cover.
@@JackamoJoness I’m gonna be honest. WALL-E is just too dark. I mean humanity fell apart. And stuff. Even the game is dark. I found copies of the game for Xbox 360 and ps3 and windows 7. But im kinda mad about the fact that these games won’t get remastered or get ported to a different console, this video is probably the most famous ;-)
@@JackamoJoness also what emulators did you use to play these games
Well, you put yourself on the board as a content creator😊. Really good vid👍. And wall-e is still an amazing game😁
Why thank you. And yes, I love the Wall-E game
I platined the Toy story game with my mom, it was the only game that my mom got addicted to.
omg i loved the toy story 3 psp game and walle. I dont actually remember beatin them but damn did i enjoy em
I recently played the PSP Toy Story 3, it’s really good
toy story 3 on the ps3 is so good, one of my favourite childhood games, the pc version has much less content in toy box mode unfortunately
I just went through a traumatic experience with SecuROM when I tried to back up my Wall-E for PC disk into an ISO image, and then this video pops up, and the first topic is the WALL-E Video Game. The universe can be a cruel, cruel mistress.
monsters inc scare island is an underrated classic, the game on GBA is good 2
Clicked on this thinking that you'd talk about Monsters Inc. Scare Island, not even realising there was a game based on the actual film.
I’ve never played it, I’ll have to check it out. I’ve heard good things
Fun fact: Toy Story 3 actually is one of the reasons Disney Infinity exists. Disney Infinity uses the same engine as Toy Story 3, even on 3.0, and its evident by some characters having the same moves as the characters from that game, along with leftover files such as dialog images from Toy Story 3. They even ported over that TNT thingy as a placeable toy.
only game i played out of this list was the wall-e ds version and i loved it as a kid but holy shit i didn‘t remember it looking THAT bad
anyways great video good luck with your youtube career my friend
Aye thanks
@@JackamoJoness np ^^
10:12 Yup, exactly
My favorites:
Monsters Inc (PC, PS1)
The Incredibles
Wall-E (PS2)
Great video! Your writing was fun and it's easy to see your passion for these games!
Ts3 actually has a lot of different versions. The DS, ps2/psp, pc/ wii, and the 360/ ps3.
The pc and wii version is a very very limited version of the ps3 version, and it takes out the vast majority of Woody's Roundup.
The ps2 version is a streamlinedstory experience.
And the ps3 version allows you to play as Zurg in the toybox mode!
I’ve recently played the PS2 version. I didn’t know there was a destreamed version of the PS3 version for Wii though, that’s cool
@@JackamoJoness yep. Toy Story is a HUGE passion of mine. I'm excited to see where your channel goes from here.
The wii version isn't even that bad tho. The story mode is the same as the ps3 and xbox version. The sandbox mode is... yeah a bit more limited but it's still fun honestly
I know it wasn’t mentioned here but the Toy Story 2 PS1 game is pretty damn good.
Toy Story 3 for the PSP/PS2 actually does have a lot more of the 2nd movie's Buzz game.
Cars was a vibe subbed!!
I'll have to play that game again. I loved it as a kid.
Dude i have this memory locked in my mind When i Played Wall E on the wii back then i couldnt get passed a level then i started messing with the menu little did i know i stumbled in the Cheat Code menu then i some how entered the Cheat to unlock all levels good memory
Cars games were THE SHIT. I'm baffled you haven't looked over them.
Don’t worry, I’ll be checking them out soon
Wall-E DS was actually a banger when I played it as a kid
I didn't know it existed until making this video. I'll have to check it out someday
@@JackamoJonessFor sure lol it was definitely comfort game for me and worth just to try out
Fr WALL•E is very good but I grew up specifically with the Wii version.
Surprisingly, there's a lot of small differences between the Wii and Xbox 360 version, due to the Wii being underpowered. I owned both the Xbox and Wii versions and never noticed these differences.
I had the cars video game and the finding nemo video game as a kid. The cars video game was fun but I always thought I was supposed to collect the postcards so I never beat it. The finding Nemo video game however is so brutally and unfairly difficult. I ended up beating both at an older age and I enjoyed cars but hated finding nemo. Hope you cover both of those too
I loved the Cars game as a kid, but never played the Nemo game. I did play parts of the Shark Tale game...
Disney Infinity was amazing as a kid on the 360
I had that on Wii U. It was so fun, although really overpriced realistically.
ngl this is a genre I didn’t ever think about and it is 100% because i owned WALL·E on ds 💀
I vividly remember an old Disney game (or maybe it's multiple games I'm remembering as one).
It was a 3D thirdperson game and the only thing I remember is a farm styled level where you could play as Buzz Lightyear and a lava parkour(?) level where you could play as Phineas from Phineas and Ferb. This was like late 2000s or early 2010s, but the game might've been older.
Please somebody tell me this game exists and I'm not just schizophrenic. If you recall this game and know what it is please let me know.
I grew up playing Cars Mater-National and Ratatouille on the PS3, they were incredibly fun and the PS3 ports were better versions of their other console/pc counterparts
Wall E legit looked so good back in the day, now I'm always shocked how dated they actually look
I was using the PSP version, the PS2 version has slightly better graphics, but not by much
i remember playing the toy story 3 game in 2013
I enjoyed the Wall-e game on the PS3 but as a kid I got super stuck on a part and I gave up and haven’t touched the game since lol.
Bro the walle game was fire
That monsters inc. game was my childhood.
I was a sheltered child.
I did still enjoy it, despite the issues I had
I had the DS version of WALL-E on one of these R4 cards.
I always wanted an R4 card as a kid, one of my friends had one
Ratatouille game was incredible
