The Italian version didn't get retitled "I Vespri Siciliani" until 1861 after having to set the opera in Portugal before the Italian reunification started taking place. Prior to that, the Italian version was known as "Giovanna de Guzman" among others.

Italian ouvertures are a must. They make us want to stand up from chair even though we'll sit for hours for the rest of the opera.
