Good tips, I realised I already do a few of them. I only memorise music, there's no room in a pub for music stands :-) I must have a rippling hippocampus by now, I have many hours of music in my head. I need a play through monthly or so to be able to play a 3-4 minute song off the bat, longer than that I'd need a test play or two before performing, to refresh. It's always there once you memorise it the first time, just needs regular de-cobwebbing! Memory is amazing, and it seems like there is no limit. Great content as always Allen!
Thankyou for your generosity sharing these brilliant and practical tips. Am just relearning classical guitar after 20 years recovering from a breakdown, and I was struggling, thinking my short term memory was ruined, no more guitar. But watching your video has given me confidence to persist re-meeting my beloved classical guitar. Thankyou so much x
Adding to your idea of memorizing from different perspectives, I find it helps me to write out the measures. Something about the physical act of writing music helps imprint it, I will also color code different sections, which helps my mind’s eye to “see” the music when it is not in front of me.

And it’s 10x as fun and that’s where you grow into yourself especially if you’re a composer.

I'm wondering why the title implies that this is only for classical guitar music.
I play blues, ragtime and songs. This lesson is gold. For all guitarists.
