I mostly agree with your assessment of the various aspects and sure, judging it by today's standards, it isn't great. However, don't forget when this was made and how very much they achieved considering that. When I first watched it as a child in the early 80's, I absolutely loved it and I still do as an adult. Yes, sure, the remake is far superior in many ways and I really enjoy it, yet for me, the most exciting parts of the remake, were when they occasionally played a snippet of the original theme tune and I was immediately transported back to my childhood, with pure joy and happiness. There are certain theme tunes that always do this for me and OG Battlestar Galactica definitely has one of those.
I think though that the original is far more than the sum of its parts and will certainly always be very special to me, but perhaps therein lies the magic sauce that is called nostalgia. Would an adult who watched it for the first time in our current time, enjoy it as much? I don't know, but perhaps not and if not then that's okay. Some things are captured in childhood that can't be reproduced later in life. Thankfully though, they can always be recalled. 🙂

Heck yeah. I had the soundtrack album by Stu Phillips when I was a kid. Good music.

Yes. First album I ever got was the Star Wars soundtrack. Also on vinyl.

@@daylate7411 Awesome. I used to have the Star Wars soundtrack on vinyl too. I didn't have the Battlestar soundtrack though unfortunately.
