The BEST 50's sci-fi movie ever. It open the door for all the sci-fi movies after. Granted some were cheesey. I have a huge collection of 50's sci-fi on DVD's or blu ray.
Here's another film you must review ' Collossus, The Forbin Project'...It's not easily found in good nick, online, so you may have to sail the high seas to get it...

I would go with "Forbidden Planet" as my favorite 50's sci-fi, but there is nothing wrong with "The Day the Earth Stood Still."
