I think it would be less awkward if she wasn't just letting him steer the conversation. Like he will ask her a question and she will answer, but not EXPOUND on that answer. When people do that, I automatically assume that they are uninterested. If you like or are interested in me, wouldn't you want me to know more about you? So wouldn't you jump at a chance to be like "No, I like [insert musical genre]" and start talking about songs and artists in that genre, maybe let them listen... I would be down for that. She just doesn't go into detail... And it makes it so awkward.
But after watching the whole thing, it took me a while, I think you guys are cute and I bet a second date off camera without the other two would probably make it less awkward.
She's either socially awkward (as in she's never been on a date or doesn't date) or doesn't like him. This (what you stated) is something people do even when not on date with their everyday friends and people they meet in general. There are however people who don't talk much to anyone and just go to work or school and go straight home not talking to anyone nor even coworkers unless they have to...those people tend to be socially awkward and not know how to keep conversation going.
