    I bought a pair of these for Christmas 2022 for $500. Well worth it. I would call them a steal at that price. I enjoy them very much. Worth every penny 👍

    I have had these speakers for 3 years now and I must say they are very, very good. I bought them second hand in perfect condition in a reputable hifi store here in the Netherlands.
    I connected the speakers to a Sony STR-DN1080, in Bi-amp mode. Speaker cables used are OFC 4x2.5mm2 (because Bi-amp), length 250 centimeters. They play beautifully. And yes, I am waiting for the Sony STR-AZ5000ES to replace my current Sony ;-).
    In stereo, the speakers don't need a subwoofer, but I did connect two Wharfedale WH-D10 for movies. That extra kick during explosions or other scenes give just a little more depth.
    Center is a Wharfedale Diamond 220C and surround Wharfedale Diamond 225 bookshelf speakers with WH-ST1 stands. Yes, old school setup.
    There may be much better speakers out there but for the sound and the money you can hardly find anything better. 😀

    I got wharfdale diamond 225 bookshelf speakers as a front and diamond 220c centre channel and diamond 220 bookshelf as surround speakers, which AV Receiver will be good match for this setup (from Marantz, Sony receivers) or should I pair this emotiva basx amp. Please suggest. Thx

    How do the Aperion Super Tweeters work with the Diamond 240's low impedance (it can drop to 3 ohms at times)? I know you've reviewed the Aperion's on the 220 series but they are 8 ohms

    Hello Tharbamar.I audit wfs 240 in a store and was perfect for my taste.The room i want to put them is about 7m.long and 5m. wide(the dimensions of the room was wrong,so i corrected it). So i think maybe i choose the wfs 250s.But i cannot audit the 250s. You think that 240s are adequate for such large room?
    In a test they said that wfs 250s highs has slight dominance over the diameter and that the mids are not so rich.Have you any experience from friends of yours about the sound signature of wfs 250s?

      I audit wf240 in a store for an hour.They have very relaxing sound with strong bass and sweet mids and highs. No ear and brain fatigue like other speakers.Also they have top quality of construction.Elac has 5-1/4" aluminum cone woofers and wf 240 has 6.5 inch kevlar woofer,meaning more heavy bass response (if tou like heavy bass like me).You must audit both.I have wf225 for 2 years,very very happy.

    It's a nice pair of speakers, but i prefer speakers with a metaltweeter of some sort, they're more brilliant.
    And when i listen to music where they hit a hi-hat drum, i want it to sound like a hi-hat and not like someone banging on the lid of a cookingpot.
    I really don't lke softdome tweeters, they tend to sound very dull on higher notes.

    I cannot subscribe to the statement that a 50watt amp is sufficient. I own the Diamond 240 and my Yamaha RX V 1600 receiver (7x120 watts 8 ohms) struggled with them. So I had to upgrade with a power amp (Proton AP2080) before the speakers came alive. But once I did that... WHOA!!

    • @tomchan2559
      @tomchan2559 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      AV receivers are made for movies. A 50 watts / 8 ohms output class A stereo amp is enough to drive these speakers. For Music, your better buy a 2 channels amp.

    • @usersky007
      @usersky007 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Disregard power claims on a receiver. You'll get MUCH more power from NAD C316bee rated as 40w than on that yamaha rated 120w and I mean MUCH more. Been there, done that, moved AVR to my bedroom - deemed as unworthy of anything more.

      How are the bass response of 240's in your opinion (strong,deep,fast)? Are you satisfied with the sound?

    • @SurajKumar-AskMe
      @SurajKumar-AskMe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree too! My observations are quite similar. Wharfedale speakers (being on warmer side) beg for more (raw) power to extract more juice out of them. Got a pair of Wharfedale 230 and connected them to my Yamaha Aventage RX-A730. Fed them 90W+90W x 2 with biamping and the resulting sound was engaging and amazing both. SO yeah, the more power, the better the sound is.
