In Islam it’s the wife’s right to ask for her personal space. And it’s her right to have her own house and the husband has to provide her with that right. She does not have to serve her mother in law. She married the son she didn’t marry the mother in law.
Also the mother in law duties are not farz on her if she does it that is her good deed. Kiya eklota aulad rote hain hust chill and enjoy ur life with ur hubby that would be the girls father in law

Live in small places, but separately, homes can be close by. This is the Islamic way of doing things. Joint family system is a hindustani culture concept. In joint family system you cannot follow mehram and na mehram concept. Did the family knew that the woman were a working woman. Why these adult women cannot have civilized conversations. Why they cannot have a helper that can help with home, and children. Muslim women are not supposed to share their income islamically. Why dont the mother in law do some work from home , women are always support system for each other, but there needs to be respect for each other privacy and communication. Yes In Islam there is salah rahmi , take care of the elderly mother inlaw especially if she is a widow.
The husband always is supposed to give pocket money to husband . Need to give responsibility to the younger children. The mother in law is much heavier then the daughter in law. 2nd homes looks like watching too many hindustani dramas. This is not a muslim way. Man needs to go first to his wife and ask for children. This is very bad that if mother in law is talking about family matters outside home. A man is supposed to give pocket money to his wife. The wife should work and islamically they cannot ask for money. Also , people should think about their retirement plans as to how they are going to survive in old age. Thats why pakistan is having problem you see the two extremes in both cases. Unfortunately. Both husband and wife needs to know what is the income of the household and write down expenses. Also how much needs to saved. But both mother in law and daughter can work from home so all the burden is not on the one poor man. In third case why the man is not looking for a woman by himself. There needs to be separate homes . Live in small homes close to relatives . So there is privacy , there is no problem who is doing the household work and who is not. And there needs to be a helper at home to do house work. Women can work . How do they know sisters personality is the same. In all cases the problem is women are dependent on men for income. Brother must be paying for her school.
