I did the exact same thing for months! I would customize the amounts depending how blue my hair was (from previous blue dyes). It was about a 1:1 of Transylvania to poison for a perfect steel gray. Totally recommend!

I find with Transylvania, adding a little red will cancel out the blue tones and make the dye more silver/grey and turn out better if you hair is also slightly blue 😎😎

Does it have to be arctic fox hair dye or does other brands work?

I'm swearing on the Maria Nila Colour Refresh in Black. Dilute it with as much conditioner as you want and you can achieve pretty much anything between a dark grey and a pale silver.
This has actually been really insightful, I just received a bottle of Sterling by Arctic Fox and I'm waiting for my hair to grow out to re do the roots and such, Just hoping it doesn't turn green like everyone keeps claiming it does.

It was fine for me, I loved it. Your hair has to be practically white for it not to take on a "greenish"color (wasn't too noticeable for me). I also mixed in a little purple rain since I love the purple silver

Julie Blake you can but it's basically just putting more dye on because toner is a color that neutralizes
I love how the diluted transylvania turned out, looks like a really pretty metallic blue 💙
Makki is the best one, washes out completely without leaving a tint and holds for a long time, highly recommended

When I dyed my hair grey, I diluted the black hair dye with blonde and mixed in some toner. It came out great but you had to work quick and it only lasted a few weeks.

My favourite silver hair dye is Kenra Silver Metallic in 7SM, 8SM and 10SM :)
They are very shiny, true grey on level 10 hair and they hold very well on the hair.

It is a great exclusive guide for learning how to reverse gray hair fast without the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend Sam after a lifetime of fighting got great success with it.
Overtone is awesome. I use to tint my dark chestnut hair red with it. But, Manic Panic Vampire Red was the best. If I ever go red again I'll be using Manic panic.
Great video! I always dilute Makki for the ends and use a less diluted mix on my roots. Great results every time
I am now dying my my hair a dark ash blonde but would think about letting my hair go silver gray soon at age 63. I like the Arctic Fox Sterling because of the light reflection and shiny color. Simply gorgeous!

I have to say that the Makki and Overtone are the sorts I'd go next coz they look pretty cool and I like them but my current hair situation is a colour I don't want (that's blue) I put this purple dye over my orange/yellow hair and now I'm going to remove my blue/purple. I will either go copper down or just a nice blonde don't know 😑😶

You could try Maria Nilas colour refresh in black. It's a really dark, pure Grey. It's a bit more on the expensive site, but you can dilute it heavily for a perfect Grey or silver.
I've been using strictly arctic fox for over a year but overtone looks awesome in this video lol

I've used makki for ages now, but i put in some conditioner to make it a tad lighter, I've also tried the arctic fox and it doesn't last as long.

can I use other brands of black color with conditioner to get silver hair? What do you think about joico color intesity black pearl?
Can do!! some black dyes are blue based so it could fade to blue/green. I like to do a swatch test on paper first and see the undertone of the dye! Hope this helps x
Is the overtone an actual conditioner or is it a dye?
I never thought to dilute BLACK. i always diluted my purple and blue and accidentally ended up with a lavender- grey, but I can't believe I didn't think of BLACK. I'm kicking myself.

i'm wondering what kind of conditioner do u usually use for hair dye?
Seeing as you're the hair dye queen I need some help. My hair used to be blue and ive been trying to get it blonde ever since. My hairs mostly blonde but at the ends its a very light greenish blonde and it just wont go away. What can i do to get rid of it? Also whats the best conditioner to use after bleaching? My hair feels thin and whispy at the ends it sucks lol. Thanks in advance xoXo
try using a silver toner shampoo "purple shampoo" to help even out the color of the blonde :) also tresemme anti-breakage condiitoner is a good one to use after bleaching :) hope this helps ox

Hey ^. ^ My hair is a very dark brown and a while back I had it lightened to an Auburn Red I recently dyed over it using a black brown hair dye is there a change the dye will fade patchily because my hair was previously lightened ^. ^ thanks love your videos btw 🙂🙂🙂🙂

What would you get if you added just a tiny bit of the diluted transylvania to the sterling dye?
