I'm surprised we got another Minsc card when the last set already gave us one, let alone making him a planeswalker. Also kind of bummed that he lost white from his color identity, though the art seems much better on this one. Not sure if I will be building a deck around them, but they should slot nicely my existing Minsc deck. Having a way to get Boo back and always having a way to attack seems useful.
@@regaleagle6533 Having a constant source of +1/+1 counters that will layer over the boost from Minsc, Beloved Ranger--and something decent to put them on and pump--seems like it can be useful. Plus, he'd be replacing Rosheen Meanderer for me, which also has only been so-so.
My dad's favorite character! He's never been into magic, but when I showed him the Minsc commanders he was hooked! The walker looks really good as well!
It’s not the worst ever since the sacrifice damage counts as commander damage, I’m assuming sacrificing the hamster for draws would outweigh swinging with him
Blackblade is good of course. personally I like Bonehoard, since it counts your opponent's graves as well as your own, and most if not all creatures you play are likely to be sacced anyway.
Minsc and Boo are the reason why I'm getting into MTG in the first place. I've played other commanders at this point, but I love Boo so much. Its a joy to make my opponent laugh, then win because I buffed the hell out of Boo
I have been wanting to make a Minsc Voltron deck centered around Suiting up Boo to the point where my opponents just say "Well! I died to a Hamster" xD

I built a deck around Minsc and Boo that has Halana and Aleana in it, as well as Grumgully, and Etali. I get a lot of "oh crap" when I pull this deck out.
I love that the alternate full art version of this card is based on Chris Perkins. Definitely going to get that copy and paint a black ball cap on him, and maybe replace boo with Chris’s dog

Lol Ozolith is insane for Boo! =) Update made the deck fun just wish Boo would be considered commander for backgrounds and Commander dmg
When i pulled branching evolution from a jumpstart pack i didnt think anything of it, after putting it in minsc & boo tho- holy cow. More than that i almost traded vorinclex monsterous raider and im glad i didnt because he is absurd in this build. Belt of giant strength is insane, i had to buy 5 copies of this card for other decks but it is amazing in this build as well as colossification. Minsc only see’s creatures with haste or trample. You’d need something like an archetype of aggression for giving these changlings trample or something like anger to give all your changlings haste. Obviously other cards could work, but those were ones that y came to mind.

Sadly not, just like the tokens produced by Awaken the Blood Avatar don't do commander damage. Your commander is "Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes", not just "Boo".

A reminder with things like Branching Evolution, Vorinclex, and Doubling Season. Planeswalkers enter with Loyalty counters on them equal to the number printed on the card
Planeswalkers will enter with double the counters printed on the card. The loyalty abilities, however, are a cost and will not be doubled when activated
doubling season wont but vorinclex will. Doubleing season cares if it is an effect, which would count the etb but not as a cost. Vorinclex doesnt care if its an effect or not and will do both.
You know it would be really cool if they made the planswalker either have another loyalty ability for +1 or change the text of the first ability to say "Put 3 +1/+1 counters on target creature you control or create Boo a legendary 1/1 hamster creature token with haste" The ability to get boo back would be great because these decks really fail in that regard due to there coloring (yes I am referring to both cards)
This is sad 😭 Minsc sacrificing his hamster best friend, Boo.... just to deal damage & draw...uh this is a Black card. It does come back into play at etb & upkeep, but it still feels more like necromancy as the tokens hit the graveyard 😓
Couldn't they have just made Minsc deal damage to any target and draw cards equal to the power of a hamster you control as the second ability? Sacrifice is not the way to treat your besties 😂
I honestly don't think that legendary creatures feel as special as they used to. Nowadays it just feels like they have to hit a legendary creature quota and they just end up filling these new sets with garbage. Not that this has anything to do with this card but it's just a general feeling I get from the game nowadays.

@@Wildonion1 it is useful but the difference between having to hit 21 and 40 damage is huge. It really harms its ability to shine.

Hilarious that this card is viable in Legacy and Vintage. It's also an infinite draw outlet in the command zone. For Gruul.

I'm pretty sure it is, because the card says that Minsc and Boo, Timeless Heroes is doing the damage, not the sacrificed creature.

This card would be devastating in my hydra deck. I could sacrifice a creature with 20+ power easy and win the game.
Look at fling and gravitic punch. If you are using it just to sacrifice a creature and deal damage then those would be better
