I think it very useful for some light in house moving around stuff. a kind of work on your blog, do the dishes, go get some coffe, find something in the garage, go lay in a hammock typa day. the shower idea is a nice bonus. headphones can actually get painfull or annoying or too much cut off from the outside world. Also, it feels like a product designer student project or something.
I'm the father of a two year old and I can definitely see a use for these. I'm also in a wheelchair and can't turn my neck very far so being able to hear what's happening around me when I'm out and about is a serious benefit. I'll definitely be looking to get me one of these.

The main issue to me, actually, might be that they are so easy to steal when they're around your neck. it's definitely a niche product, the question is which niche does it fill that better products dont already exist for? if it was a bit louder and kept its shape better so you could wrap it securely around something it'd be a decent phone speaker for positions bulkier speakers wont fit as well
