Stick around until the end for cold start, POV driving, and additional b-roll!
Today, Steve looks over this 1968 Pontiac GTO hardtop coupe that was built at GM's Freemont, California assembly plant, and subsequently refurbished and modified. The paint and body are show quality to a mirror finish. The 400ci V8 has been modified with a 0.030″ overbore, forged pistons, H-beam connecting rods, ported cylinder heads, Inconel valves, a roller valve train, and a Butler Performance turbo camshaft as well as a 98/88 turbocharger, a Snow Performance water injection kit, programmable Holley Super Sniper electronic fuel injection, an air-to-air intercooler, a wastegate and TiAL blow-off valve, and a four-row radiator. Other additions include installation of a heavy-duty alternator, MSD ignition components, fuel tank, and pump replacements. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a four-speed 4L60E automatic transmission, a custom driveshaft, and a ten-bolt rear case with 3.42:1 gears. Further updates include dual transmission coolers, boxed rear control arms, traction bars, and heavy-duty sway bars.

My favorite muscle car! My dad bought a new '68 Lemans which we took overseas. Always loved that year. My dad was concerned about the availability of bigger higher octane fuel so he opted for the Lemans with the 350 vs the GTO with the 400 (only a few $ hundred more)

Hey Steve, thanks for mentioning the rear gear. With all the money invested, you'ld've thought they would,ve stuck in a 12 bolt. (At least.) Guess it wouldn't be needed with an automatic, and turbo. And traction bars with snubbers? Really? With the factory 4 link, and boxed control arms, why use them? Hop Stop bars would've been more effective. The car probably won't be drag raced anyway. Hope you made $ on your sale.

I had one like this, same color scheme (black/black). While pretty, they sure are hard to keep clean LOOKING, as every little speck of debris (be it dirt, or just DUST) shows. Black carpet is especially hard to keep looking good, as well as black FLOOR MATS! I drove myself crazy trying to keep my car looking good and a solid black one is well, let's say challenging. Otherwise, great car. As a car freak myself, I don't understand how I missed your channel, so I promptly subscribed! Keep the good vids coming. 😉

Love the car , but only thing I don't care for on the 68 over the 69, is definitely the rear bumper

Funny, I prefer the '68 rear bumper. Probably because my dad had the '68 Lemans

Dang , black , and hide away headlights? Wow !!!!! Now I’m not sure if I like this or the black Camaro rs ss with hideaway’s better . I love it all to be honest. That car looks amazing. Besides the handling and power it has.

I'm almost 100% sure that was my dad's GTO he bought back in '03 the car was all original, 4spd and 400. I have pic and video proof. My mom sold it about 2 and a half years ago after they divorced. I knew the second I seen the buyer loading the car what his intentions were for this all original GTO piece of history. I will never be able to get the courage to show my dad this video

Sounds like the car I would've like to have Jake. Original 4 spd goat. Altho this car looks nice and done professionally, to me it's another typical resto-mod. Is it faster than stock? Probably. but the fun and pizzaz of the original car has been lost. But hey, what do I know. Sorry for your dad's loss.

Yup. Torque thrust are on everything. If you don't know what to put in it, just throw a set on it. It doesn't matter if you're driving a school bus, or a scooter lol Pontiac wheels on these looked great. I love aftermarket wheels, just not a fan of tts

Hi Steve , you were not good for giving much for my trade in. I see you have not sold the 1967 GTX I looked and received a ride in . Danny was very much better than you in valuation. No worries my man I will show you what I have to trade now and see if I don’t have an eye for detail. I still like that MOPAR. Sincerely, Ray Murray
