Can you imagine that he was only 17 when he wrote this? What an incredible talent.
There's a reason why this piece has been dubbed the 'greatest' composition ever written by a 17 year old.
Can't imagine why?
Mozart's 25th symphony was also composed when he was 17 🥺
@@sourjyabanerjee9310 yes but at 17 mendelssohn was hotter with a flair and vibe 🤣🤣
I love the gentle piece of music between 11 and 12 minutes, reminds me of holidays to Scotland 🏴 years ago 😢😊
Excellent playing by this superb ensemble - the timpani and tuba performances are exactly what this composition requires.
One of the most charming, delightful pieces of music ever written! I think Mozart and Mendelssohn were in a class by themselves when it came to "charm and delight".
Wait until you play it lol
Hey I'm writing on their level my channel proves it
Perfect tempo. Magnificent piece by a brilliant composer.
One of my favorite pieces of classical music
The musicianship of this orchestra is amazing. The violins, the horns.
I watched his concert when I was only 7 and he made me fall in love with classical music until now in my 30s
Still in love with classics and this one in particular, as the trigger. Now just past 70 and it goes on...
I don't know of any piece of music ever composed that packs so much top musicality in 13 minutes.
The Moldau is a very nice one
I really enjoy this overture of the Midsummer Night's Dream by Mendelssohn!
I can't believe I lived for 17 years and didn't watch this masterpiece...
“I can’t believe I lived for 17 years and didn’t compose this masterpiece”
Mendelssohn probably
This performance lights the heart, mind, soul. I totally and completely LOVE it.
I like this video for the detail with which we see the orchestra players. This complements nicely the progression of this music in the brain, heard a thousand times, invariably with highly emotional feelings like a sustained musical climax.
Great conducting..precise ..and a woderful orchestra..
Concordo em 200 %.
Mendelssohn is a great Alchemist of the dream
The familiar music is comfortable to the ear .
There is something extraordinary in this performance .

Awesome & delightful pieces of music ♥
Was quite an honor to conduct there, Leipzig being his old haunt. M. composed symphonic pieces in early teens. We really do coddle our children too much!
The genesis of the brilliant incidental music for "A midsummer's night dream" took place when the young Felix was 17 years old,(overture) and it was completed 20 years later,in 1846.

His face:
"They forgot that one stacatto note on page 3 again. Ugh"
:)
A masterpiece.
I was looking for this song forever. Had [ C6 B5 A#5 A5 E6 D6 C6 B5 ] stuck in my head.
Who else is watching this for their online orchestra class?
me rn

yeah. Trying to analyze this for a 500 word essay when I'm on so little sleep the only emotion this reminds me of is 'anxiety' and maybe 'anger'. never seen/read the play either. I really just don't want to do this and am distracting myself
lol yeah
Watching it for my online music 111 class
Thank you so much for sharing!
Marvelous. Greetings from port harcout airport lounge. Delightful 😊
The wonderfulness and clearness of this performance are far superior splendor, and beyond compare
OH MY SWIRLS SO CALM!
Mendelssohn and Wagner composed the most elemental and magical music ever written.
Mendelssohn arrives. Wagner meanderes clueless and never has point, only meaningless empty phrases. Yes, I never understand what the fuzz is about.
@@danielwmwolf LOL. Ever hear the "Liebestod" or the Prelude to Act 3 of "Lohengrin?" Among many other works of his that "arrives."

Why do so few orchestras include the Intermezzo to this work.? It's delightful and rarely gets an airing .
Still better than Jazz. I'm here just to study for a test.
かっこいい!みんなそろっていてハモニーが素晴らしい指揮者うまいなあ!メンデルスゾーンかっこいい!

Great sounding orchestra! Is the sound edited in any way? It is so clear!!
Experimentando “el efecto Waldo de los Ríos”.
Primero escuche su versión y ahora disfrutando de la versión original…
Sin duda logró su cometido.
😊😊 u😊
There should be (even) more focus on the flutes...they got such an important role here...
Yeah, she is beautiful
❤
Es mi imaginación o en 3:55 la orquesta imita el rebuzno de un burro? Tal vez el compositor lo hizo a propósito por la obra de Shakespeare.

Feliz Mendelssohn, todo un genio.
Heh, that intro totally inspired Electric Light Orchestra's Livin' Thing.
If anyone knows for sure where this performance took place, I would be really interested to know. It is certainly configured differently from most concert halls I know. Thanks.

Leipzig was in East Germany which was a closed society. If they had anyone from outside the country, they would have been from one of the former Soviet countries. People couldn't come in from outside the Soviet bloc and audition for these jobs. I'm sure they can now, but they would have to wait until an existing member of the orchestra retires or leaves their position.
terrible film editing!
