The Moab area is so beautiful and Marisa does a great job with the video. I especially like the 360 shots but understand they are a bear to edit so thank you for taking the time. Yes summer is not the best time to see Moab. Way too hot. Of course the crowds really swell with the cool weather.

We agree! And thank you for the 360 comment. Marisa puts in a lot of time stitching everything together. She is the mastermind behind our channel, I'm just the driver!
Thanks again for tuning in and commenting with such positive feedback!

Funky music. Ours minds were saying, ya that would be fun. But our aging bodies are saying, ah no. Thanks for sgaring. Love your banter, Marisa’s big smiles. Ride on.

We would love to do it on 3 different bikes as we know that we will continue to hunt down all of the fantastic roads in Utah!
      Thanks again for tuning in!

So enjoyable! Some of these switchbacks reminded us of our Stelvio Pass riding in Italy. So exciting! This was exhilarating in places. Your bike is so loaded with stuff that you truly are “overloaded”. Marisa liked the “devil’s intestines” comment, her laugh broke us up too!!

We will definitely tag Stelvio Pass! We can't wait to find as many magical roads as possible!

You made the right decision to skip White Rim. I did it on a loaded 1200GS and it was a handful. I split into two days camping on the trail. Doing it in one day on big overloaded big would take eight to ten hours. Shafer Trail is a very easy section compared to what the rim has in store. After about 50 miles it starts to look the same. The other places you visited are pretty awesome too, so don't feel like you missed too much.

      Good to hear!
One day, we will attack it. Doing it in two days seems like the best decision. I don't think you can go wrong on any of the trails in Moab, you are sure to see beauty around every corner!
      Thanks for the heads up!

Just watching you guys ride that pass makes me queasy. I'd probably just pass out on the spot. Can't imagine trying to ride that! I'd be hugging the wall and avoiding that cliff! Thanks for letting me at least see it through the lens of your cameras, and congratulations on your triumph.

It was an amazing experience for sure. It looked worse than it was, there were only a couple of tricky sections. I HIGHLY recommend riding it via 2 wheels or 4. The scenery is hard to beat!
Thank you so much for tuning in and happy holidays!

Hi Tim and Marisa!! I'm so excited you both got to ride Shafer Trail! Like you it was on my list for about 7 years and I final got to ride it this past June on my 2021 BMW R1250 GSA. I think it is the most impressive and beautiful trail I have riddeen. It just takes your breath away. I was on a 12 day trip with a friend also riding a R1250 GSA and this was the highlight of the trip which included 9 states and more great off-road riding in the mountains. We also took Potash Road back to Moab and it was pretty technical when we road it but great!! I need to ride it again this coming year as somehow my GoPro camera got switched into the camera mode and I didn't get the video riding down. The only video mishap on the whole trip and the most important footage to get. I did get some great pictures and my friend Kit got some great footage going down with his 360 degree video camera. I'm planning on getting a small dirt bike to ride White Rim Road in the future also. The R1250 is just too big of a bike to do it safely. I'm looking forward to your Potash Road segment. Love you both!!

      Hey Craig!
I agree that it is one of the most iconic roads to ride here in the States. It was absolutely wonderful! I know that we will be riding down it again next summer on our way to Alaska. It is a shame that your GoPro was only on photos... gives you a reason to go back!
Thanks again for tuning in and commenting, we love hearing back from people on what they thought as well as their own experiences.

Very nice video, I love seeing other people riding 2up. It takes a lot to come back to a place where you failed in the past, but it's a great feeling to know how much better you got during those years. So congratulations on that. I'm super scared about height, so it took me a couple of attempts to make it up the Angels Landing hike in Zion which was the scariest thing I ever did in my life. (and I will never ever try that again lol).
I think you guys made the right call on not trying the White Rim Trail, because it is so much harder than the Shafer Trail. I rode the whole thing 2up with my wife on the Africa Twin.
Yes, in my TH-cam video it might look easy, because we didn't crash and my wife never had to walk/get off the bike. But this trail was at my personal riding skill limit, I do not think that I could do anything much harder than that (at least 2up). I never ever went to bed at 8pm on my birthday before like on the day after we rode White Rim trail. lol. That summer heat makes this a real cardio workout, so when you ever want to try it, better choose some cooler months for this. When you are in Moab again, you should try the Onion Creek trail which was our favorite trail in the Moab area. Beautiful landscape and I think for you guys it should be no problem to ride it 2up.

Thank you so much for the advice about Onion Creek! We will definitely check that out the next time we ride around Moab! I am always up for a challenge, but White Rim seemed like it may have been more difficult than fun in certain sections. Great job doing it 2 up!

Nothing like the CanyonLands here in the US. LOL But I did them on my '95 R11GS and '00 KLR. ;-)

Shafer Trail can be done on just about anything, but I know it would be a lot more fun zipping around on a KLR.
We can't wait to get back on it next summer!
