Love how Tallulah seems game for all the zany humor. Sad that one year later (in Dec. of '68) she passed away at the age of 66. Thanks SO much for sharing this bodacious "blast from the past" for us to enjoy !

I read when she showed up for the " I love lucy " in the later 50s , she showed up late and had been drinking and lucy was very upset but turned out she did her part perfectly and it was a huge success

Reportedly, in her last days, Tallu practically fell into a NYC taxi wrapped in Sable. Giving the driver her destination, he glared into his mirror, exclaiming, YOU'RE Tallulah Bankhead! Taking a puff on her cigarette 🚬, she Regally responded, Frankly My DAHLING, I'm what's LEFT of Tallulah Bankhead!

I've heard they played on Tallulah being more masculine. So this skit isn't unusual for her to play a male/masculine part.

⁠Her estate would be about $20 million today. Her family was one of the wealthiest in Alabama. Father was speaker of the House and grandfather and uncle were senators.
