I decided to invest in Flowzone Typhoon 3. It sports the gun style and I love it. I put quick connections on everything, even the hose can quickly disconnect. Oh, so lovely. 👌🏾
I notice that you installed the thread tape Counter Clockwise, the correct way is Clockwise, because when you start screwing the parts back together you start unwinding the tape off of the fitting.
Thank you for sharing It's good to see that the tips for tee jet can work with the Petra. Plus the prices for the tee jet nozzles are priced out great. Appreciate you doing this. Cheers sir. Happy Holidays.
I loved this setup and purchased ALL the items needed, save for ONE! The Petra “Small Brass Wand Connector for Black Handle” has been consistently out of stock for MONTHS, seemingly making all the other purchases USELESS. I've tried calling Petra and Emailing them to no avail. Any suggestions of how to deal with this situation???
Your setup is great! I did mods on my Ryobi battery sprayer wand and a Chapin pump sprayer to be able to use Teejet nozzles and adapters. Because I had a hard time collecting all the different types fittings and all, I went to a local pneumatic/plumbing place to get help with some ideas. We ended up cutting the wands near the tip and installed QC so I can swap out Teejet nozzle and the original Ryobi/chapin nozzles. it worked fine, but it is kind of heavy around the tip and Chapin's plastic wand may warp or snap eventually. I wish I found your video so I could suggest the guy who helped me to do something like yours. I noted your idea for future mods 🙂 Thank you!
I have small lawn sf so purchased a Scott's 2 gal battery tank sprayer. It comes with a 3 in 1 nozzle. Jet, fan and cone. Didn't find it adequate for the lawn. Thought it would be easy replacing the 45° nozzle body and purchasing a set of different flow rate fan nozzles. Forget about it. Its a battle.
It seems the flowzone's spray gun handle would be a good fit for this wand setup, but it's pricey at $48... I'm also a big fan of the eley quick connectors!
Thanks for the video. One comment, the steel pressure washer wand and QD fittings add weight compared to using a poly or aluminum wand for landscape sprayers. Maybe not as robust!
Yeah! It’s definitely heavier and unbalanced... also, apparently I’ve been holding the wand upside down as well. As soon as I flip it, it seems ok, but still heavy. Thanks for your comment and thank you for watching!! I’ll have to look into the aluminum wands, if you have a link, please reply with it so I can see. Thank you so much!
I like your video much more than I do the Petra sprayer (HD4000) that I bought a couple years ago. I don't like that it leaks at almost every connection that it can leak from. I tried the tape but before long it comes undone. Is there any other way to keep the connections from leaking? If there isn't, I think I'll get another backpack sprayer, but it won't be from the Petra company. Poor design from the get-go if they already knew that it leaks and include the plumber's tape with it. I think they should have made it so it does NOT leak. I can't use it without it spraying on plants that I don't want the spray on.
Noticed at the start you put the washer in the yellow cap, then the t-jet nozzle. I think the nozzle should be inserted first into the yellow cap, then the washer. That's how my original connect was setup, and I bought the t-jet and it works great. When you showed the new wand, you put the washer in the correct way.
have you been happy with your wand upgrade ? is there anything you would change ? what was main reason why you went with the QD fittings and metal wand setup vs. just using the plastic setup that comes with the Petra sprayer ??
Would this setup and all parts that you have assembled for your HD4000 work as well for the either the HD2000 or HD3000 Petra models? I'm thinking of purchasing the HD3000 MODEL and would love to upgrade my wand and convert it to Quick connects as well as the teejet 110° wide spray angle nozzle. Thanks for any other helpful tips on this , Troy in Georgia.
I don’t know the answer to this, but know that some models differ in their design of how the hose connects to the wand and tank. I know for sure this will not work on the HD4050.
I just bought a Ryobi 4 gal sprayer. Are the threads the same for all these manufactures? I assume each tip requires a different cap? On Amazon, it does not seem to specify any requirement for particular caps to install the tip to any particular wand... There should be some sort of compatibility chart for different sprayer manufacturers. On my Ryobi, a lot of the threads as well as the tank cap are stiff. I used plumbers grease on all the threads as well as any gaskets/washers. Not only do they thread easier but I believe they reduce wear and increase the part life. I have used plumbers grease on hose gaskets for decades. I understand they can get dirty, but that has not been a problem for me. I simply wipe anything off with a rag.
You might be able to reach out to Petra Tools customer service to get that part. Someone else asked the same question and mentioned that they were able to get it by asking.
Not available AT ALL, and no idea when it will be in stock. They claim they haven't eliminated it from inventory, but that they are simply backordered. Now I see HOW LONG they have been out of stock!!!
Yeah, if you can find the right thread, for sure, but I don’t think you can use the existing plastic wand. There is no thread at the end the tip attaches too. Instead, it’s a compression fitting that holds the tip on.
Great videos, Vince. I ordered the same same sprayer based on your review. Just got to get rid of the 3 feet of snow in my lawn! How do you think your set up compares to the stock wand that comes with the unit? The tee jet nozzles, I'll definitely upgrade to, but is the standard wand good enough? I like quick connects, but I probably will hold off.
I highly recommend not using the “jet Tim strainers” If your using a thicker liquids , it willl clog the strainer increasing back pressure on battery type pumps and reduces the life of that motor. With that said , I never had a tip clog without a strainer. Also it’s one less thing to cling when it’s time to clean up

Yeah, it’s tricky because there are so many different thread types and sizes. Nothing seems to follow a uniform standard.
@@TheLawngineer yes exactly.

Actually, the wand recently failed on me. The metal wand is a bit too heavy and eventually failed at the connection off the handle.

I don’t know if the threads are the same. I tried talking to Petra about this, but I never got a straight answer from them on the thread type.
Can you provide a link for a similar gasket to make this work? The size is very hard to find.
I'm not sure if Petra Tools make these or sell them anymore. I had issues finding something similar.
Can you provide link to Lalo made ya look website?

Do you know where the small brass wand connector could be sold at? It’s sold out on petras website
That was the only place I could find it. I bought quite a few different thread type fittings and could not match it.
I was able to order it through Petra customer service . They say have small quantities but not enough to put on the website.
Can you use plastic instead of that heavy steel tube? This looks awkward with all the weight.
Yeah, if you can find the right thread, for sure, but I don’t think you can use the existing plastic wand. There is no thread at the end the tip attaches too. Instead, it’s a compression fitting that holds the tip on.

thank you! I think the standard wand is good enough. If you find yourself changing out tips a lot... then consider quick connects.
Are you aware you are holding the wand upside down?
Yes. It’s been brought to my attention several times.
Can these battery sprayers be used to spray bleach solutions?
I was told by Petra that they do not recommend it.
@@TheLawngineer Bummer... Thanks!
