    Really nice touch with the cubes to represent the available moves. It helps visualize the options clearly. Keep up the great videos

      True story. Those were on the table from when I was playing with a board game prototype I was working on. And I just thought "wait, those would be perfect". The pink is really easy to see on camera as well. So I'll probably use them again.
      Cheers Stuart.

    Great video! I put the game on the table last week after letting it catch dust for several months and was pleasantly surprised how much fun it still is. Great little game!

    I love this game! I highly recommend this game. I agree its meant for two players but we have managed to make it fun with four. Just have two teams with each person only controlling one worker.

    Language dependency meter - should you pick a copy in another language? 4.5/5p
    Icon/colour/number dependent, text dependent, reading dependent - 2p
    Minimal private information / Minimal verbal communication - 1p
    Available rule book in different languages - 1p
    Zero cultural/political aggression - 0.5p (some wars were fought on this place, a long time ago)
    Multiple modern mechanisms - 0p
    A great multilingual experience.

    Bought this game on a whim for $10 from a local department store. Got home and looked it up and found it to seem fun, especially for the price I paid. Now if I can only find the expansion for such a low price as well!

    Great vid. Can you put a dome on a level 1 or level 2 building? Or is it always a level 3

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always level 3, the dome is essentially level 4

    "having to deal with really serious chess players"
    So true, but I know a lot of them who happily play with shuffled opening positions or even handicaps, so that their knowledge about 300 different openings doesn't kill you in the first 10 turns (so now they need like 15 turns to defeat you).

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Had a friend who was a ranked player, once saw him play 16 people in a park at once and beat them, playing against him was an exercise in humiliation every single time :)

    • @st0ox
      @st0ox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@3MBG I have a friend who beat me in chess every time, so I showed him twilight struggle, because I thought knowing all the cards should be a huge advantage (and I had already years of experience with that game at this point). I won the first round and since then I lost every game of twilight struggle against him, too.
      But I am really happy, that I was able to convert a chess player (who never really played any modern* game) to become a well rounded board game player and we certainly had more fun with twilight struggle than with chess. We are now getting into the COIN series ;)
      *And with modern I mean something that was invented after Poker in 1829.
      Besides Chess he also played Go before I introduced him to the hobby and this was my selling point to get him to try out twilight struggle. Maybe that selling pitch was a bit far-fetched but it worked.

    Can someone PLEASE tell me the rules for the four player game?? There are only 3 colours so I don’t see how one could play this with four players…

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Um, there are 2 pieces per colour. So its a team game.

  • @Dee-Ell
    @Dee-Ell 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So the game is really for 2 players even though it says up to 4 players. That's pretty important to know. Thanks for the info!

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      2,3 and 4. But 4 player is very much a variant on 2 player, with each person controlling one of the 2 pawns

  • @3MBG
    @3MBG  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I was pretty blown away by this game. One where I did unpack it and think "is that it". But, damn is it an art form to make a design so simple, yet so deep. Masterful.
    What other games are like this, simple to teach, hard to master?
