Or better yet imagine that you're on the last boat on the train and you fall in and nobody notices you fell in because of all the noise and darkness and THEN you brush up on all that submerged machinery and it takes everyone a while to notice and shut things down to rescue you.

Wow, amazing to see that, I helped build and install a lot of the lighting efx back on that ride in 1992. Interesting to see what's still working and what's not. That big sea monster thing with the human head, that head is actually the face and hair of the lighting designer for the ride. Just as you passed it, there used to be a water curtain that we laser projected an image of a ghost pirate and his lady friend with at that time one of a handful of laser video projectors in the world. It's useful life was only about 10yrs at most though. Also, the water tunnel just after the bend where the cannon battle goes on, that water was lit with spare light from the same laser that I personally crawled under the entire building to pull two fiber optic cables over the service catwalk above the tunnel. It looked beautiful when it was working! Gardaland was prob one of my most favorite places to have worked, everyone in Peschiera were wonderful to our American/UK crew!

We used to have all those samples as wav files along with copies of the video that we laser video projected on a water curtain just past the serpent. Just across from the serpent was a small hidden walkway, and then a fairly large computer room with about 6+ racks of show control and audio gear built and installed by Electrosonic out of London. I contracted to their Minneapolis office where I worked a ton of jobs for them in Japan for Sanrio Puroland, etc. I think the audio played out of a bunch of 386 pc's as that was the fastest you could get in 1991. Bit of trivia: We (Electrosonic) were the beta testers of what would become DTS Theater Sound a year before it was first used on Jurassic Park. We had 20 systems at Expo 93 in Taejon S. Korea in 5 dif. shows.
I never saw it in this video so they probably removed it but in the first 5 minutes, a dead guy would swing over your head before dangling just a metre above you

I was on that ride 25-ish years ago and was traumatised by it A LOT. The snake creature killed me lmao, still remember the intense panic I felt. Have very vivid memories of that event. Revisiting this after that many years is a weird and uneasy experience although now I see how impressive the design was even back then. Awesome!

A lot of the comments are about being scared of water animatronics but this ride is actually really impressive and and the design of the sea monster is incredibly unique and brilliant. VERY frightening. I’d love to ride this.
I'm Italian and I've been at the park multiple times as a kid, this was my favorite ride (I never liked roller coasters). I remember everyone was scared as hell of the human-faced sea monster (some of my friends told me they even had nightmares about that), I think I was the only one that loved him haha
Ive had a fear of robots since i was a child hated even the ones that you would get at Christmas that played tuned, trying to get rid of my fear by watching loads of animatronic videos... oh who am i kidding, it’s a small world in disney land paris shat me up enough🤦🏻♀️😂
It's a small world are innocent moving dolls , they don't move realisticly like other animatronics , they make small and cartoony moves that show the traditional dance of each country , they are animatronics , but cute ones , i think you must watch pirates of the caribbean or haunted mansion
I've been on this and it's honestly brilliant! Not only was it the only place in the park that was less than the 40 or so degrees outside but the animatronics were so gooood
As you pass him, if you were to quickly turn 180 to your right and look back, there's a ground level passage where employee's can stand to watch how it's working. There's also two rooms just behind, one for the water curtain that used to be there, and the other side a small glass window where the laser system used to project two ghosts on the water curtain. There is also a set of stairs and a door just behind the water curtain where you could also watch to see it's operation. When the laser system was working, for a bit of a joke we programmed an image of a squirrel that would appear for a moment on the water curtain when it closed again to be ready for the next boat. You do dumb stuff like that on installations!

You start underground in some sort of hidden cove where former pirates are also buried. You travel to some exotic places, find some awesome treasures. In the city scene the woman is screaming at her drunk husband while at the tavern the pirates are telling the tales of some strange places. Jungle scene with alligators and a huge robotic anaconda on top of you. Sea monster, you make it out alive. The parrot is saying: You must go back! Mineral Cave yay Hanging scene, well this basically foreshadows that shit is about to get real and that you’re getting closer to danger! The parrot is saying to the dog: Get the cat!Get the cat! You get closer to a bastion (?) or castle near the sea and they throw cannon balls at you, prepare to get wet. The tower looks as if it was collapsing and it’s very intimidating I must say!! You and your crewmates meet your demise. Bottom of the ocean, there is a shark and giant octopus. You and your mates go to heaven yay!
Imagine being stuck on this ride, than the cart you are in, slowly sinks, and you are only left by yourself to find abillion glowing eyes staring right at you.
I’ve never been afraid of stuff rising out of the water and if done well I think it’s amazing, but something about the hydra thing rising out of the water just didn’t set well with me.
I’m not only scared of underwater animatronics but I’m scared of real looking ones or like ones that are close to me because I once went on a ride and I was crying the ride it’s self was not meant to be scary.
