Mimi- I'm just now learning how to use digital art software but I find it takes forever... I can't keep in the lines etc. Sometimes I feel I will never learn. Any resources? I use procreate
I did a 100 day challenge of trying to make a complete composition (instead of a doodle or a like study sketch) last year and it CHANGED my artwork and confidence. It also provided me with some nice completed pieces I could start pitching for editorial work. But I still struggle with "finishing" things! I like starting the process and I do draw in some capacity 7 days a week usually. I know people always talk about how hard it is to get started, but how can you finish???? (especially when it's digital and you can change the colors so easily???) If it's always partially done than I am not disappointed with the result :/
Oh that's amazing, well done for completing 100 days! And yes I know what you mean, knowing when something is 'finished' is difficult because you could keep adjusting things forever 😅
Yes!! Finishing is so hard! I always start something new. I have a cupboard full of half done art journals. Well done for doing the 100 day challenge. Did that change that for you or is it still hard? I know @angrymikko say to always finish every piece you start. But it’s so difficult. I lose interest or realize I don’t have the skills to finish it the way I want to
I have post-its around my desk with phrases and such - it really helps on days when motivation is low. The one that's closes states "It doesn't matter - JUST CREATE!" I think that's a lot of the problem we have. We think we need to have a vision of what we will sit down and create but just the practice of making intentional marks is so valuable!! Just doodle and allow ideas to grow. I believe in that because I see it in myself. Just create - literally anything! I believe in everyone here! 🥰
You are such an amazing inspiration! I’m 44 years young and have always fought not feeling my art is good enough or that not enough people will buy my art or other handmade creations to sustain my life. I want to finally step out with it. 🙏🙏🙏
I love these challenges. It changed the way I look at things. Now art is part of my life. I drew things that I wasn't motivated to draw because I thought that I'm not able to.
Thanks to your content and your patreon I've build up the habit of daily drawing I think two years ago. My time for drawing is always in the afternoon, and when I don't get to it on busy days, I really miss it.❤

Tip 1 : remove as many hurdles as you can Tip 2 : make a specific time for it Tip 3 : let go of expectations Tip 4 : use whatever tools you have Tip 5 : make the goal sustainable Tip 6 : make it interesting and enjoyable
It was lovely to hear about your journey again, and so inspiring. I'm loving being part of your community, but definitely still trying to form a regular habit. It's so nice seeing everyone's contributions to the monthly prompts. At the moment, it's still exciting for me learning new things so that is motivation, but I definitely felt like I wasn't ready without the right tools (I'm trying to stick to basics materials for now, though i've promised myself a nice, shiny iPad later) I'm really enjoying using Milanote since you recommended it in another video. I'm using it to create moodboards for illustrations but also for some animated videos i'm planning to make. As a visual planning tool, it really works for me. I love that you can add little colour swatches too.
Thank you very much for making this video, I really enjoyed it and got loads of ideas to help keep myself moving forward. I will be giving Milanote a try as well. Great job!
it depends where you are in your journey I guess. I had the worst day job of my life and the only respite I had was art. Once I was able to get out of that job all I could think of was how to make a new career for myself. Even on bad days, I just think that "I can't go back to that" and that's what encourages me to move forward.
Thanks for the inspiration Mimi!! I haven't painted anything since mid May and it's highly bothering me. I find it hard to create when I have people around, like family visiting from overseas or at the moment, summer break and kiddo's roaming around. As a traditional artist I feel bad about waisting paint too, as I have a tendency to squeeze too much out of my paint tubes...lol!! I see where digital art can come in handy.
This video was exactly what I needed to hear, thanks for sharing, I love your content and style. Would love more videos like this and art tips on how to get better, set goals and develop sustainable artistic habits over time!
Thank you so much for putting it out there. Really inspired by this journey. Already scheduled posts on my Instagram since i watched ur first video 2 weeks agai. And hopefully will start doodling daily now. Thank you mimi. Appreciate you.
I made a decision this week to start drawing every day from 1 July. Even if it's just for 15 minutes a day. I get too demotivated and then don't draw for months on end. And you know, life happens. But I'm looking forward to starting something, even if it's just to deal with stress 😊
I think it's awesome you got to use a lockdown for your long term benefit. That's fantastic. I was unfortunately considered an "essential" worker and so I worked the entire time making crazy amounts of OT for basically two years. In hindsight, I would have preferred staying home and working on me and my art. The money is nice but I was left worn out and stopped making art for almost three years. I'm back at it now and feeling good. It's summer here and my garden is enormous, but once Autumn rolls around I'm very interested in your skillshares.
I need to do something daily, because there are days where I just can’t muster up the energy after work and taking care of household tasks. My problem is keeping myself accountable, it is soooo easy for me to excuse things. It’s my biggest hurdle to overcome.
I've been here pretty much from the start and your story has been so inspiring! Do you have a new mic by the way? You sound a little different but it sounds great :)!
So lovely that you've been here since the start! I was sick recently so my voice is still recovering a bit, and I also edited this one myself so the audio won't be as good 😅
I fell out of creating for a couple of years and getting back has been painful. The memory muscle just isn't there. So instead of daily drawing I have daily disappointment 😂
Your art is beautiful never stop drawing. Also Jesus loves and cares about you if you’ve never accepted him as your lord and savior please do so and ask him to fill you with the Holy Spirit ❤

Yes absolutely! Love the post-it notes ideas 💖
I’ve been drawing daily for a while now. It has helped my skills a lot! But it can definitely be hard to feel like doing it some of the days.

Please more content on failures, mistakes, bad days. How to react ..That's more relatable to most people...I think

Yes! Will definitely be making a video on failures as well!
Thanks very much for this wonderful dose of inspiration and wisdom, Mimi. Perfecting timing for me!
Thank you so much for your advice and teaching on being a successful artist/ illustrator. I really enjoy your vlogs too.
Thank you for the work you are doing
I truly feel inspired to create more ❤

That sounds like a great plan! 15 minutes is a great starting point 🥰
Thank you 🙏🏼 This was helpful and inspiring

Essential workers like yourself helped keep the world running, so thank you! 🥰 It's nice that you're able to be creative again now!

Yes so tricky! Maybe you could find an accountability buddy, somebody who is also interested in doing the same thing so that you can do it together 😊
What is your favorite sketchbook to draw the initial sketches?
I've been here pretty much from the start and your story has been so inspiring! Do you have a new mic by the way? You sound a little different but it sounds great :)!
Maybe it's because there's no music :)
So lovely that you've been here since the start! I was sick recently so my voice is still recovering a bit, and I also edited this one myself so the audio won't be as good 😅
@@MimimooIllustration Ohh haha! No I actually thought you sounded really crisp so all good on the editing side ;). Hope you feel better soon!!
Lovely video as always 😊💕

Samsies…I’m trying to get back into it as well but I can put what’s in my head on paper. I’ve been going back to basics. Good luck with your journey ❤
Hi mimi , which graohic tablet did you use , and which program . Thanks ! I am in the same progress of my book
Nice to see u initially used a pen on a touch screen laptop
Mimi, Can I use procreate to illustrate books for publishers?
I draw daily, but i feel it’s mainly copies and sketches from pictures on Pinterest, how do you decide what to make?
I only do sketch everyday 💙
لو سمحت ماإسم جهازك وهل يمكن استخدام تطبيقات الأدوبي وكانفا عليه وكم سعره؟
What type of laptop are you using?
I’m an artist and my poor brain can’t come up with so many new ideas as this lol. Depressing actually.
Welcome Everyone support please ❤❤🎉🎉
WE HOLD A PEN THE SAME WAY!!! :o
😄🖌️✨
