Woah, surprised to randomly see En on my feed! I met En back at Clemson University, he's a really nice dude and a super hardworking artist. Glad to see you're doing well En! また遊ぼう!
@@SkidChill that's not wealthy, they were well off. Just because you come from a loving successful family doesn't mean you come from money or are wealthy.
There's something about ceramics that is so wonderful to the touch, like wood and glass, or beautifully worked metal. To me, craftspeople are alchemists, transmuting the simplest of elements into something so beautiful. I hope the community of ceramic artists in Shigaraki will continue to work and prosper for a long time. ❤️
I’m not Japanese but part of a younger generation who loves art. The whole video was really beautiful and insightful to watch. So unfortunate I can’t appreciate the real deal. I hope Iwamura and the rest of the communities hopes for the little town to be revived come true and that it can thrive. All the best to them all 🫶🏼
I like the work he's making, it's like graffiti characters in ceramic form. I understand when he said sometimes the work can come out of the kiln boring or disappointing. That's the process. You push through that. The workspace is amazing. I want a set-up like that.
Exactly there’s always that period of doubt in the middle of a work after the initial excitement of starting. Just have to see it through most times it comes out better than expected
It was wonderful to see you and your community's beautiful works of art. Thank you so much for sharing a bit of your life with us. I wish you and your family the very best , good health and lots of happiness. Sending you love from Scotland.❤. (May a dunked biscuit never float in your tea)
I'm really fond of Tanukis and have a small collection at them (mostly from the Japanese thrift store near our place) seeing it here made me love this video even more. Thank heavens it's in my recommendation 💓💓💓
Ha I love this guy 😊❤ what an interesting character; beautiful creations. My parents would tell me similar stories. I loved the ones with monsters and unique stories. He’s exactly right about ceramics. The Roman oil vessels were unglazed and survived to this day!
Love this, a perfect tuesday evening education, by clicking on a recommendation. Would love to know what makes the Shigaraki clay so special that i fostered an entire town.
This video is incredible. Seeing a new form that is coming in of artist is inspiring and now I have know more and can further deep dive on these artist amazing work. 😊😊😊✨✨✨

LOVED IT! thanks to all the NOWNESS team.
Last update on Mr. Shimamura’s website was from 2020, at the end of his residence in Shigaraki I believe.
I hope he is still doing ceramics 😊!

Wonderful art pieces. Clay is an amazing medium to work in

Absolutely beautiful story and visuals! Thank you!
What an amazing person. thank you for sharing
excellent production. lovely cinematography.
It's truly sad to see the pottery industry slowly fade. Same thing happened in the 70s In The uk.
That switch from man made, to mass production.

In the Disney version of Pom Poko they weren't exactly forthcoming with the details of tanuki anatomy. Here I thought they were marsupials.
Lindo trabalho😊

Those figures are awesome. I wish I can have the suspicious ninja triangle.

From now on, I shall no longer accept gifts or presents on my birthday, but rather “birthday boxes”.
So beautiful! but I am ruined as I cannot see images of the Japanese countryside through anything but the lens of Hayao Miyazaki's hand.
썸네일 보고 작은 소품인 줄 알고 들어왔는데 왕따시만한거였네.,.
