Nothing against James at all, but I would have liked to see a few new builders who they have not asked yet as well for some of the builds
@@patraisstrzelecki2025 especially considering this would have been a much bigger paycheck than any other simmer has been paid and it's going to james, who is great, but belongs to a minority demographic of sims players. 60% of sims players are women... it's just a bummer that even in a space/marketing demographic that should benefit marginalized creators, it's not.

it's so cool that the sims team let james film and show us the whole process of building a lot for this pack! hope similar videos for other lots are coming too, i'm really interested in the community lots
I think its also free advertising and engagement with the community. So win win
Yeah I hope they are paying him. TH-camrs are creating their builds, advertise game and players test their game with different packs and eventually modders debbugs the game😂 what a wonderful world. However it is sad they did not done it sooner some of older builds are pure abomination.
If this was done by EA, they’d make everything medium or tall.

@@jaqsre I'm confused. You already knew about that Base Game house that was reused in StrangerVille, but are you guys saying that EA reused it AGAIN in Moonwood Mill? Since James built all the houses, that can't be the case, and again, you already knew that the house in StrangerVille was a rehash, so you aren't talking about StrangerVille either?
@@viktoralgotsson I think they confused each other and you noticed lol (Brandon forgot Jaq already mentioned Strangerville and was confirming that while Jaq just took it at face value that Brandon meant somewhere else or forgot James did all of the other lots too.) Unless Brandon is referring to somewhere in the Wedding Pack, but I don't think so. I legit can't remember what other towns came after Strangerville but for example pretty certain Snowy Escape didn't either.
I bet the hardest part was only using The Werewolf and Base game packs, no move objects, and building to EA rules

So, the hardest part was everything about building the house.
This would actually be a fun build challenge. No cheats, pick only one pack on top of base game, try to be somewhat generic and not too heavily detailed.
I’m glad they got you to build for this pack, using the Game Changers for this stuff works so much better. It looks nicer and I’m sure it’s easier on the devs and gurus.
Also you could have a rule like "pick a maximum of 3" types of everything. 3 indoor wallpapers, 3 foorings, 3 types of chair, 3 types of light, 3 types of bed ect. Sort of the opposite of "every room is a different style".
Yeah I’m sure it’s easier on the sim gurus, they’re literally having someone do their job for them because they’re too inadequate to do it themselves. I do hope they’re paying James for his work but I highly doubt it. We shouldn’t necessarily be praising someone for doing free labor for a multi billion dollar corporation, but that’s just my opinion and I may be wrong.
@@caitlin8274 It's not even about them being inadequate, when they're building, they're used to following very strict guidelines. They don't get a lot of time to just play and build for their own enjoyment. James' job includes building in the Sims so he knows how, even with restrictions.
I'm not sure if they're paying him directly, but it's also not like he's required to be doing it. He's also getting to make content off of it. If I was a halfway decent building and EA asked me to build a lot for them, I wouldn't ask for money, because it's just a fun and cool experience. (EA also gives him codes for all the packs, and I believe they've even flown Simmers out for certain events, so they do take care of their Game Changers.)
@@caitlin8274 The build videos say "sponsored by EA" rather than "made possible by the EA creator network" which means they paid him at least something.

Love that you put your foot down about the range hood in the kitchen! I’ve only lived in 60-70s style Aussie rental homes irl and there’s typically one over the stove, it’s just really old lol

Aww it's a shame they asked you to change the bathroom roof. As someone born and raised in this area of the US, I can tell you those little add on roofs (set at a varied angle and height) are very common; especially on older homes where a bathroom or kitchen at one point was an addition to the house. I thought it looked great, and had a really nice authentic touch. I would have made the little stoop in front wood, cause in this area, older homes in small towns were almost always all wood. But the scoop roof in front is a really nice touch too.
You know, if someone asked me "who of all the game changers is most likely to be a secret werewolf" I wouldn't even think twice, so I think EA definitely picked the right guy here
LOVE that James got to do these builds. I hope the Sims team keeps using creators for new packs.
I don't think they'll go back to building the lots themselves. They were always getting criticized for the builds [rightfully] and getting simmers to build them also brings more PR
@@limiv5272 and for the skeptical among us contractors are cheaper/no benefits compared to in house employees.
@@rabbitknight87 TBH I highly doubt they hire specific people just to build the houses. More then likely that'll fall to their existing staff under a very tight deadline (which may contribute to the disappointing quality). By offloading that work, you're giving your existing staff more time to focus on things like bug fixing etc
This starter looks way better than any "normal" house I ever built. You have done such an amazing job building the lots (the library they showed in the livestream was superb) and seeing you so excited about the B&B stuff is really cute tbh :)
It would be really interesting to know how long the build of this world actually took, from EA asking you to do it to the last meetings. I imagine they started maybe like last summer or something like that?

i feel like this starter house give the vibes of “face value.” the outside was redone, for either a reselling value or being too torn up by werewolves. the inside is still run down and old, halfway through the process of being fixed due to damages from werewolves who have lived there and destroyed it over the years.
I realy dig the early world buuld look of "Wolf town" gives a fun look on how things are made.
Great sneak peek at an unfinished world. Very interesting hearing about the process of making a build with the Sims team.
It's really bold of EA to say a concrete platform looks unfinished when they released literally dozens of houses with no lights, unpainted rooves, mismatched windows, stairs to nowhere, missing toilets, or just straight up empty. 😐

🤣🤣🤣 but honestly this concrete looked unfinished for me too. I get the idea, I think it's realistic to have a concrete blob and stairs made of bricks, seems like a cheap and fast way to do it. Maybe it doesn't work as well in Sims.

I’ve been watching you for years; you were the first sims TH-camr that really made a name for himself with your builds and your gameplay. You paved the way for so many others to do the same and here you are building everything for the WHOLE PACK!

I love it that they now have simmers doing the building, it's such a huge improvement and James does amazing work. I am a bit surprised that they only got him to do all the lots instead of getting 2-3 people and dividing the lots. It's not a huge world, but there's enough to go around and different people bring different ideas and energy.
@@limiv5272 my theory is next time they might let more summers do it. As this is the first time a summer is doing it they probably still wanted to have control over the process and it’s easier to work with the one person (James) than like 4-5 people
James, I really appreciate you always being so understanding and fair with the sims creators. Way too many "representatives" in this community are always just so negative and critical, in a lot of instances they kill the joy of anything new. You are seriously like a breath of fresh air in this community and I just really appreciate that!

@@marakahl I like lilsimsie too, I have to be in the right mindset to watch deligracy but her videos are good. That's more of a comment about myself more then her. My niece adores watching her though. I think that's the point. There are lots of different age groups that play the Sims, so you may need to look around to find a simmer who is targeting your age group and interests :)

Cool to see how you worked with the revisions process and a few of the offhand mentions of the EA restrictions like number of different wallpapers and that it's more the number of different objects than the overall total that can cause game issues.
The fact that James didn't put the giant trunks in the room with the small bed and the small table in the room with the big bed, just, does something to me.
it is so cool that you got to do the builds for this pack and it is so cool to see it so early on in the stages this is very cool and I hope EA does more of this.

I’m so happy that they had James build ALL of the builds in the game! I love other creators builds as well, but their styles never feel super lore friendly like James’ builds do.

I love this starter home! It is probably my favourite in the whole game. I remember when I first got the werewolves pack and I had my sim move in here. I had so much fun playing, and because of it this house will always have a special place in my heart.
Well, now we know why EA houses are not that good: to built a proper house with all that restrictions, it takes a whole James Turner 😂 With enormous experience in building in games, not only in the Sims ❤️

Lol, so right! :D...I always think of James when I grab a Batuuuuu item and stick it in my builds, and feel like I'm getting away with something somehow illegal, :P. They add character!

A few days later, i play the game pack and god !!! this house is wonderful, so practical, she's perfect, the room placement is perfect, the size is perfect (can also be turn on tinyhouse 88/100 which is a good bonus for a starter) I really love this house ! Thank you very very much for your work on it !

Cool that you were invited to design these lots! That must have been fun to do. I am one who bulldozes most of the pre-made houses because they're usually not to my taste.
- 50 to 100 year old houses that I've seen have often been built onto several times over their lifetime. They have different foundations under different areas and the rooms sort of poke off the first building, added as they were needed. There's often been one room to start, no kitchen, no bathroom. The kitchen was often outside to start... a wood stove out in the yard, a hand water pump near it... or a creek/water source near enough to haul water from. The bathroom was an outhouse somewhere "over there". Then over time, the kitchen was moved inside and later, the bathroom... starting with a room to set the square galvanized tub for bathing and later adding toilet and sink... and eventually a modern bathtub. Showers are something that became "normal" in the 1970s (where I lived).

I maybe would have done a plant or two since the world is so lush, bring a little of the outside in, you know? But I really love the detail of the tin roof over the kitchen. The lighting effect really make that a special touch! Can't wait to see the rest!

Congrats on being able to build all the lots in this pack! I love the grungy industrial aesthetic they did for this one. It reminds me of Batuu - and I love Batuu - but in a way that more players will be excited about.
