  • uSky Transport invites you to a virtual tour on public transport. This presentation demonstrates the advantages of uSky Transport & Infrastructure Technology:
    • enhanced safety of high-speed transportation due to rolling stocks traveling high above the ground;
    • minimal land uptaken by string rail overpasses, which can be easily adapted to perform any logistic tasks;
    • more favorable construction and operating costs compared to other types of overpass transport and the underground metro.

    This is outstandingly amazing! I wouldn't help but watch and watch and watch. I'm so proud to be part of this journey.
    ...waiting in anticipation. This will disrupt transport completely!
    Glad I'm a stakeholder!! 😁 One of the best decision I made ever.

    It's a self-propelled cable car. Those have existed for a while now.
    Every single transport "innovation" since the 2010s has revolved around taking something that works and is efficient (ie trains), breaking the vehicles up into small pieces called "pods", making them look ultra futuristic, and labelling them as a "transit revolution".
    Except that these systems are horrendously inefficient, have a laughably small capacity and don't work at transporting large numbers of people as mass transit should.
    The video says "up to 5000 passengers" and "up to 20,000 passengers" so let's calculate them as passengers per direction per hour.
    The cables shown in the prototype system only show 1 pod moving. If we allow 1 pod to go every 30 seconds, that's a capacity of 720 people per direction per hour. If we let 1 pod go every 15 seconds, that's only 1440 passengers per direction per hour. 15 seconds will probably be the maximum since you need to take into account that vehicles will need to stop at stations and therefore bunching will occur.
    Similarly, if we use the larger 25 person pods which are basically minibuses and let one go every 15 seconds, that's 6000 people per direction per hour. This is very low when compared to a light metro system which has a capacity of over 17,000 passengers per direction per hour and has been proven to work in real life, compared to the cable car system which has not proven itself at scale (and it looks like only the small pod has been built so far). It also shows a few pods moving together as a cluster. If only we could join them up to make longer pods, that would be revolutionary. Oh wait, that's a train.
    The video also shows pods running down an empty grass reservation which is more than wide enough to build elevated metro.
    At 2:10 the amount of infrastructure present in that shot is comparable to a light metro. You still need to build large pillars to hold the pods, and you still need to build a guideway for the pods to travel on. And you still need to build the same size station too. So you still require the same amount of infrastructure but you get 10-25% of the capacity. And it looks like a suspended monorail too, and those haven't exactly been popular despite being first invented decades ago.
    In the description, the claim "enhanced safety of high-speed transportation due to rolling stocks traveling high above the ground" is made. Being up high in the sky makes the system more susceptible to wind, harder to evacuate in case of an emergency, and more difficult to conduct safety inspections. So is it really safer?
    If you really wanted to save land and make it cheap, you'd take lanes from nearby roads and convert them to bus or tram lanes so that buses and trams can travel faster and no extra land is required.

    Городское небо: инновационное, безопасное, устойчивое. uSky Transport приглашает вас в виртуальную экскурсию на общественном транспорте. Эта презентация демонстрирует преимущества транспортной и инфраструктурной технологии husky:
    • повышенная безопасность высокоскоростных перевозок благодаря подвижному составу, перемещающемуся высоко над землей;
    • минимальная площадь, занимаемая струнными железнодорожными эстакадами, которые могут быть легко адаптированы для выполнения любых логистических задач;
    • более выгодные затраты на строительство и эксплуатацию по сравнению с другими видами наземного транспорта и подземным метрополитеном.
