Although quite morbid watching the last 5 years at the club unfold, seeing the club slowly going backwards under Fawaz, still very interesting viewing, so cheers for the effort pasting this all together, well worth a watch.

I know the alhasawi family personally. My uncle used to be a close friend to their father Mubarak who is a real visionary guy.
The father came from a really poor background, worked his a** off. He brought real estate in Dubai back in the late 70’s and 80’s when no one thought Dubai is going to be the metropolis that it became but he had the vision.
Fawaz is really passionate about football and he really had high hopes for the club but unfortunately things did not work as he hoped.
Overall a great and generous family.

I watched this in 2022 and must admit Billy Davies interview around 26 mins was heart wrenching. Obviously he had to be careful what he said.

Watching this in April 2022 just before the Coventry match. With a win, Forest will be in 5th, and have the best form in the Championship. Last month they lost 0-1 to Liverpool in the FA Cup Quarters! This team is a complete 180 to the team presented in this doc. #COYR

It's sad to look back and realize how much of a joke we became. The mismanagement goes further back that Farwaz, but that was the pinnacle of it. It just shows how problems with managers, players etc are purely symptoms of how a club is run from the top. I believe that the signs were there when SOD was sacked, which was a terrible decision.

This is a bit like a romantic relationship that comes to and end, when you look back over the years you didn't realise how bad things actually was.

A friend of mine commented, when the Al Hasawi's sold up, that were now owned by a shipping magnate after years of being run by fridge magnet......

thankgod the era is long in the past and we are run sensibly these days. I believe it to be the darkest period in the clubs history

I still believe Fawaz had in mind to do the right thing but just not the ability or the intelligence to see it through then it just spiralled out of control ,he seemed to make one silly decision after another starting with getting rid of Steve Cotterill then O'driscoll ,I still say Cotterill was sacked because he was in no way a yes man and Fawaz didn't want that .
Brilliant video by the way .
The Pearce part is still heartbreaking to watch ,for a fan .
Onwards and upwards I like this new chairman and I have high hopes ,he's not making any stupid promises U Reds !!!!

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

totally agree,. Fawaz wasnt a bad guy , he wanted us to succeed , one of the biggest problems was that he wanted to do it all himself , he didnt trust anyone with his money

After a few false starts the owner and new chairman do seem to have hit on a manager with great potential which gives us room to dream again. How nice to look back on the not so distant past in that context...

The real story Hasawi all this spending was not from his pocket and money,
All of it was his families joint money of their late fathers inheritance in a joined business
And they sensed there was lots of corruption from him cousin and their staff,
so his sisters plus nephews and nieces (his sisters children) sued him for spending their wealth on Fawaz selfishly and stupidly in millions of £ , that without their direct consent, so the Hasawi sisters won the case against him to separate his finances from their inheritance that was in Kuwait courts.

It says a lot that Fawaz made so many fuck ups, and yet still outperformed Mark Arthur who inherited us fresh out the Prem, and took us to a 3-0 defeat at Oldham near the bottom of League 1. It's been a fairly wank 20 years all round bar the odd year, here's to much better under Marinakis.
