I used to have a little 50cc Honda Cub years ago...in green and white. In Ireland we called them "nifty fifty's". Sat on a 2022 Supercub a couple.of weeks ago brought back a lot of memories. I love the carrier box you put together!! I'm surprised Honda did not offer a solution as this bike seems ideal for zipping around town picking up groceries etc. Greetings from Alicante, Spain.
Just bought a super cub this week for my wife. Same color as the one in this video. It only has 1 mile on it as it has rained every day since we brought it home. She had a px150 scooter and did not like it at all. Once she took a test drive on the super cub she was sold. I ride a Honda Rebel 250 and we both look forward to riding together and even doing some two wheel camping. I love the super cub almost as much as my rebel. Both are great bikes.
@@BritonAD Too bulky and hard to get on and off was her complaint. Since she bought the Super Cub she has also bought a White Rebel 250 same year as mine, 2006
How much mileage or fuel efficiency you are getting? My father has Bajaj M80 .. which is Indian product.. I have little childhood memory with these types bike .. They are so hardy ... That mud road, dirt, riverside, mango garden with three people with extra load ... No problems .. they are like ants .. small but taking huge load
Back in 1996 I decided I had had enough of cars and how much they cost to run so I bought a used Cub 90. I had that little bike for three and a half years and it never let me down and did 120 miles to a (UK) gallon. All I had to do was change the oil occasionally and take it in for a check every few months to make sure everything was OK mechanically. Oh yes, and a new pair of tyres, but they were dirt cheap. How I miss that little bike!
Great review, Gus. Real world, down to earth and reminding us you don’t need to spend a fortune on a bike to have fun. Bikes to me are all about freedom and fun. You’ve nailed it right there.
One of the best videos I've watched in a long time. Been a fan of honda cubs for a long time but never owned one and been really swayed into the super cub and your video has really informed me and helped me towards my decision making. Thank you
Thank you for your kind words Paul. You're welcome! Sorry for responding back to you so late. Thanks for watching and ride safe on your new Honda Super Cub.
I had an 81' Honda Passport in high-school back in the 90's - I loved it so much I just recently got myself a brand new 2024 Super Cub, 14 miles from hitting 500 miles as of 9/08/24. My 81' had a bench seat, passenger pegs and a side stand- wish this new SC had those items otherwise it is perfect..

Hi Chris, I'm sorry for responding back late. I can relate with your friend, it is one of my best purchases, as well. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
I got a 2019 blue Super Cub new. I love this bike! Set it up with Factory rack, side stand and Kijima saddle bag frames. Chase Harper Aero 3600 tie right on. Biggest design flaw is lack of factory storage accessories. Why can't you buy with the haulage you need. My bike has 3600mis and is an absolute champ. I live at 4700ft in SLC with 1st ride to 8700 Alta Ski Resort. Like a champ and 147mpg on that ride.

That Sir, is one very pretty Bike. The color is perfect. One thing I do like better on the Honda 50 Cub that I owned as a teenager, some 50+ years ago was the larger double seat. If I do decide to purchase a Honda Supercub in my senior years, I do believe that I would buy the aftermarket longer seat with saddle bags and the Trunk along with the rear foot-pegs. These are marvelous machines. The old Ad saying still applies. "You Meet The Nicest People on a HONDA". Greetings from Ontario, Canada.
Great job Gus! I have the 2020 and have about 800 miles on it now and loving it! I added the side stand from Steady Garage (Chimera Bolt On Side Stand) because that is a quick 15 min install job unlike the another that requires a lot more work. I only use the side stand for quick stops and try not to put much weight on it. I also added a nice chrome center rack in case I want to hang a grocery bag or a water bottle. Stay safe!
Side stand is a factory original which comes from Thailand. Took a week to arrive after order. It is worth its weight in gold. I also added a fused charge cord which tucks under right side seat. All wiring is behind body panels. Keyless ignition always drains battery so I keep connected to smart charger for AGM. No issues since.
I have about 400 miles on my ‘21 Super. Ub. It’s more complicated than the 50cc Cub I had in 62-64 in Japan. I’ve cruised, explored, and camped on it. I burn the recreational fuel (no ethanol) as first choice. Like you, 0.7-0.8 gallons on refills. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
I think maybe I'm suffering a late life crisis.... I keep looking at Cub videos and have a strong desire to buy one...to be a first time biker at 62... Am I crazy?? I'd only be using it to go to the supermarket via country roads...
I'm almost 58 and this will be my first motorcycle. I'm not interested in speed. I just want to take nice rides on back country, small town roads and fish.
I bought used 2019 model (blue one with red sitting) a year ago. It had only 300km. Now it has over 2000 I can't wait for better and warmer weather. Just cleaned it and changed oil today. I needed to charge my power supply too, because it had some trouble with starting. When I bought it I added front windshield, phone holder and Yoshimura exhaust. Previous owner already mounted an original Honda's steel trunk (or whatever it's called).
Hey Gus. Thanks for the 1000 mile update. I had to fast forward the video a bit. I have a 21 SC & LOVE IT. & so do so many people that see me Cruising by. When was your first oil change? I need to get my oil changed.
Thanks for the review. I bought a 2021 cub in January here in australia, same colour as yours. It's a real joy to ride, and I'm neglecting my other two bikes in favour of the little cub. If I had to choose just one bike to own, it would be this beautiful iconic SuperCub. I read a great article about the original cub, written by James May shortly after the Top Gear Vietnam episode, and will quote it here; A while back, America's Discovery Channel conducted a series of destructive tests on a Honda Cub ... they declared it the greatest motorcycle ever made. Well, I've been riding a 50cc Honda Cub - for quite a distance, in fact, but more of that some other time - and I think they got it wrong. I'd like to declare the Honda Cub to be the greatest machine of all time; nay, the single most influential product of humankind's creativity. Was he exaggerating? maybe a little, but these bikes have outsold the model T ford, the VW beetle and the toyota corolla combined. And I think this new version, while not the bare bones utility transport it was originally, has truly captured the spirit of the original. I think if you strip away all ego and everything that gets in the way of the pure joy of motorcycling, you end up with the Honda Super Cub. But that's just me ;)
It is a superb machine, I love mine more now than when I bought it. Glad that you are enjoying your Super Cub, it is wonderful hearing from you all from Australia. Thanks for watching and ride safe Wesley.
Chain maintenance is most frequent service item. I bought a pair of high quality chains and swap them every 1500mi. Chain oiling is every 250mi with 140w gear oil mixed with 10% atf. Use a button bottom oil can to lube side plates & rollers. Tension chain for recommended slack using a ProMotion chain alignment tool. You won't believe handling difference. Bike has 7K miles.
God bless Brotha, I’m thinking about getting one, I’ll be switching from a sport gixxer to this bad boy! 😄 I don’t want to obsess on videos of it I want to experience it.
Thank you David, I like it as well. Thanks for watching, here is a link where I got the seat cover, in case you are interested. Ride safe sir. scooterseatcovers.net/
When you do an oil change;,You don't use synthetic oil; Right? ( I've heard that synthetic oil is bad for the transmission-too slippery for the clutch plates...etc. ... Am I correct?)
In my country we have many cub copies except from the Honda super cub with the same type of clutch/gearbox. The Yamaha crypton, Honda Astrea, sym vf 125 and some Chinese copies that cost half the price of the Hondas. All very reliable and very easy to use.
I'd avoid the Chinese copies. Out here in Thailand the Thais buy the pricier Honda's or Yamahas as they know they will last over twice as long as the Chinese owned brands.
I had a yellow and white Honda Metropolitan that I bought off a friend of a family member back when the gas prices where as bad as they are now. To give you picture, I'm 6' guy and was 220lbs at the time so I was a little self conscious about how I looked on it. That is, until I filled it up for the first time. Spent less than $4 for the fuel. All of a sudden, I didn't feel too embarrassed riding what looked like a Power Wheel when I rode it. I even went as far as making sure I stopped by big SUVs when fueling about every other week.
That’s wonderful Joshua! Thank you for sharing. I wish that yellow and white was available today. Thank you for watching and ride safe. Have a good week!
I too have a Honda Ruckus..and I'm a big guy.. #290.. I don't care.. coats almost nothing to fuel it up. I installed a tractor seat.. super comfortable.. ride it everywhere
I do like center stand, just wish it would come with a kickstand. Which by now I have bought a aftermarket kickstand. Sorry for responding back late. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
Enjoyed the vlog. I bought a Kymko Like 150i but wanted the Cub. Now I am happy because the Kymko has 13.7 HP and under seat storage. California's drive too damn fast for the Cub.
They really are a great bike to ride if they're anything like the old c90 I had in the 80's. Like you say great for running errands and so convenient, I think I enjoy a smaller bike more than the big stuff these days and I'm thinking one of these will fit the bill nicely. Have you seen the channel C90advertures? the guy rides one all over the world. Thanks for the video.
The real test is hauling groceries with it. Lots of groceries. Something you'll do every two weeks. That's what I use my Honda for. I don't understand any motorcycles that are sold without some cargo carrying capability. Maybe mount a motorcycle duffle bag between your legs. I've got a huge plastic storage box with hinged lid and lock mounted on the back of my motorcycle like you do, but I bolted mine over the rear seat and onto the third party storage rack. On my rebel, I have a duffle bag that slips over the sissy back rest but it tends to slid to the side when full so you're reaching around to shove it back on the back seat sometimes. Backpack goes over the gas tank on a conventional motorcycle.
I have hauled a couple grocery bags with mine. I agree motorcycles should have some carrying capacity. Do you have a Rebel 1100 and a Super Cub? Thanks for watching and ride safe.
@@gustwowheeling7337 No I have a Honda CMX250 and CM450. I just pulled out both from a chicken shed today, pulled a birdsnest out, and ceanked up the 450 for the first time inb5 years. I had to park them when I went blind. But I got eye surgery last week and now can see out of one eye. Going to bleed the front brake, cjeck air pressure, grease the chain and make the first trip to a gas station to tank up tomorrow. The 250 is going to need a new battery I only got 7.5v out of it. Boy are they dusty and a mess. Clean them up progressively as I go.
Slow lane is easy and low stress. If traffic backs up behind me on 2 lane I might move way over to the rt and wave them around. Also thinking it might be easy to just use toe to shift. Gotta have a back rack...but I totally agree whenever I want to just make a quick trip (can't believe smokes are $6.50...insane). I've got a beautiful Shadow 750 but really just want something quick and easy, getting a little old for fast hiway etc. I do wish they'd made it a 150 instead of 125. Just a little more power, maybe a 5th gear, maybe top end 70mph..but they didn't haha .
Thanks for the video. I pick mine up tomorrow. I’m not sure if I want the orm rack or aftermarket. Can you tell me more about your rack, where to get it?
That's exciting news Troy! I got aftermarket rack. It is a Givi SR1168. Bought it on eBay. Givi also sells top cases that is lockable. I like the monolock system, so removing the top case from rack is quick and easy. They have many styles and sizes. When you have time go take a look on Givi website. Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day, so happy for you. Congratulations, enjoy your new Super Cub and ride safe.
Have the Trail 125 loving it, would like a Super Cub to go along with it. But do not sell them in Canada. On the Trail I have a GIVI Trekker 46 liter top box, Have it set back 8" from the font of the rack, and gust got a small ammo box 14"x 10" X 8" to go in front of it for tools and spare gas. 2.5 Liters. looking to get a side rack and Saddlebag for it just on one side, to keep rain gear in. The top box I can put my helmet, jacket and gloves in when stopped and still have room in it. I can take the front box off and put a 10 liter gas can to get gas for the lawn more fits great in front of the GIVI box. The GIVI box comes of and on easy. if I have to pick up something large. It is a great run about bike.
Sorry to hear no Super Cub's sold in Canada. Sounds like you have a lot of storage for your GIVI top box, thanks for sharing. Also sorry for responding back so late. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
About a 115 miles, but I only put .75 of a gallon. The fuel gauge on the Super Cub has fuel bars, so the last fuel bar starts blinking at about 85 miles, so right around 110 to 115 miles I stop to get fuel. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
There's a guy selling a blue 2019 with six miles on it. He bought the Honda Trail and bought his wife the Super Cub. She wont touch it. He wants $3500. Is that a fair price you think? Also I'm 5'10'' and 225 pounds .Do you think I'd fit on the cub? I've secretly wanted one since high school. Lol! I just want it for errands, work is a mile from my house and the occasional brewski. I have a motorcycle for long distance work. Thanks for your input. I'm definitely enjoying your channel. Love your wooden crate!
Thank you for your kind words, Richard. That is a good price with six miles, it is still a puppy. A new one (if you can find one) costs more with taxes and fees, plus freight charges have gone up with the rising fuel prices in the world. I am the same height with 230 pounds and it fits me like a tailored suit. The wooden crate I bought at IKEA. Glad that you are enjoy the channel, thank you for watching, ride safe and have a good week.
Richard you're the same height and weight as me and I bought my 2019 two weeks ago.. You won't regret it... It's a beautiful lively little machine... Worth every penny!
Great video! Great bike. Wish they could get the power up a little bit more! Just for the ability to hold speed on hills. But maybe that is part of the charm of the bike! I watched so many of these while in Vietnam. They are really treasured in South East Asia.
Thank you Michael. Maybe they will give it more power down the road. I am at little over 1,900 miles now and still enjoy riding this iconic motorcycle. Thanks for watching, have a good weekend and ride safe.
When you get one, it will be the best summer you ever had, Miguel. I check the oil at the beginning of my ride. Thank you for watching and have a good weekend. Ride safe!
@Gus Two Wheeling thanks for responding gus. Lastly they won't let me demo at the moment plus I need to get my license 1st. One last thing I'm on the fence right now. I dropped a deposit on one today but I'm a pretty heavy set guy 5'11 295 to 300 not sure if this thing can handle my big ass lol! I really like it and have my heart set on buying it. Only thing holding me back is the load/weight capacity.
Oh...that is too bad about the demo ride. On the weight, you see people riding Super Cub's 2up. I assume the salesman that took your deposit knows it's for you. If it was a problem, the salesman would have suggested a different bike for you. I was 252 pounds when I bought mine, now I weigh 234. I got to demo ride mine and wanted to make sure I could do 55mph with me on it, and did. Best of luck it is a wonderful machine to ride. Have a good day and ride safe.
Weird how I think a CB200 is too small, but a 125 Cub is just right. Since these get astronomical fuel Mileage, I'd recommend spending a little more on ethanol free gas.
I realllllly wish Honda would completely do away with that 125 engine and go to a 150cc 4 valve 5 speed. That would put all the 125's up to an EASY 65 MPH top speed and being able to pull your average hills at a steady 55 MPH. At least they have overbore kits for the Grom. Wonder if they would work on the Cub/Hunter/Trail platforms as well. Good vid bro. 😎👊👊
I think there’s a couple reasons I see why they won’t due to safety and marketing.. 1) the bigger engine and higher speed will compete with their PCX and ADV models; 2) the skinny tires will be more unstable above 60mph, unlike the PCX and ADV.
there is ALWAYS...ALWAYS some boob in the comment section that has to bitch about an engine in a motorcycle that has been made for eons not being big enough. Here's a thought...go buy a Honda Super Cub and either put a big bore kit in it or do an engine swap yourself. Plenty of stuff out there. I would bet Honda knows what they are doing way more than you do. Oh the humanity............
I saw thousands of these in Vietnam during the war fiasco. The Viet Cong used them as attack vehicles. Bars and other places used by Americans had to install barriers at the entrances to prevent satchel charges being thrown from Honda Cubs.
Your memories of the Honda Cub are rather unique. mine was sitting in front of my dad on his cub and watching a skydiver and his chute didn't open and I watched him hit the ground close by. I was six years old.
Just two problem... Really small tank.. second was not problem but 100 mm rear tyre better for braking.. Though any day I will want this bike .. supercool and childhood memories

I have about 400 miles on my ‘21 Super. Ub. It’s more complicated than the 50cc Cub I had in 62-64 in Japan. I’ve cruised, explored, and camped on it. I burn the recreational fuel (no ethanol) as first choice.

I think maybe I'm suffering a late life crisis.... I keep looking at Cub videos and have a strong desire to buy one...to be a first time biker at 62... Am I crazy??
I'd only be using it to go to the supermarket via country roads...
Not at all. Sign up for a motorcycle safety course in your area and see how it goes. I bet you will do fine. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
Get it you only live once
Go for it, I’m 69 tomorrow ! And Im having one!!!
I'm almost 58 and this will be my first motorcycle. I'm not interested in speed. I just want to take nice rides on back country, small town roads and fish.
@@ajrockinshockin2893 Well I've gone and done it... Prefer the red colour so bought a 2019 with only 250 miles on it.... Wish me luck!! 😁
Very nice, I like the blue color. I'm waiting for it to warm up as well. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
Hey Gus. Thanks for the 1000 mile update. I had to fast forward the video a bit. I have a 21 SC & LOVE IT. & so do so many people that see me Cruising by. When was your first oil change? I need to get my oil changed.
I changed mine at 600 mile service, and I do it every 2,000 miles. Sorry for responding back late. Thanks for watching and ride safe Bill.
I’ve got 2x Trail 125s.
Your bike is a beauty. Crate sets it off! Seat cover is handsome.
Sharp!
Thank you Ray! The Trail 125 is a great bike. Thank you for watching and ride safe.
Thanks for the review. I bought a 2021 cub in January here in australia, same colour as yours. It's a real joy to ride, and I'm neglecting my other two bikes in favour of the little cub. If I had to choose just one bike to own, it would be this beautiful iconic SuperCub. I read a great article about the original cub, written by James May shortly after the Top Gear Vietnam episode, and will quote it here;
A while back, America's Discovery Channel conducted a series of destructive tests on a Honda Cub ... they declared it the greatest motorcycle ever made.
You need to tell us about your mirror riser extender brackets. THAT IS A MUST HAVE!

When you do an oil change;,You don't use synthetic oil; Right? ( I've heard that synthetic oil is bad for the transmission-too slippery for the clutch plates...etc. ... Am I correct?)
I change my oil every 2,000 miles, the book says 4,000. I don't use synthetic oil, just regular. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
In my country we have many cub copies except from the Honda super cub with the same type of clutch/gearbox. The Yamaha crypton, Honda Astrea, sym vf 125 and some Chinese copies that cost half the price of the Hondas. All very reliable and very easy to use.
Yes I’ve heard of a few. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

115 mpg. Thanks for watching and ride safe Alan.
Going to bleed the front brake, cjeck air pressure, grease the chain and make the first trip to a gas station to tank up tomorrow.
The 250 is going to need a new battery I only got 7.5v out of it.

Those are good suggestions, maybe Honda will beef up the engine in the future. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

None, mine is smooth. Hopefully you can go to your local Honda dealer and demo ride. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
😎👊👊
Maybe they will bump up to a 150cc, I'm amazed at the fuel mileage of the 125cc. Thanks for watching, and be safe Bro.
You bring up some good points, thank you for sharing your thoughts and watching the video. Ride safe James.
I think there’s a couple reasons I see why they won’t due to safety and marketing.. 1) the bigger engine and higher speed will compete with their PCX and ADV models; 2) the skinny tires will be more unstable above 60mph, unlike the PCX and ADV.
offer a 125 and a 150cc version. The cub looks so much better than the PCX.
there is ALWAYS...ALWAYS some boob in the comment section that has to bitch about an engine in a motorcycle that has been made for eons not being big enough. Here's a thought...go buy a Honda Super Cub and either put a big bore kit in it or do an engine swap yourself. Plenty of stuff out there. I would bet Honda knows what they are doing way more than you do. Oh the humanity............
Can two people (~150 kilos of meat and bones combined) take a ride on it especially up the hills?
It might be a little too much. Check with your local Honda dealer and see what they say. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
I saw thousands of these in Vietnam during the war fiasco. The Viet Cong used them as attack vehicles. Bars and other places used by Americans had to install barriers at the entrances to prevent satchel charges being thrown from Honda Cubs.
