ohhh Kate. i've been watching for your video all morning and looking forward to it! today is the 5th anniversary of my mother's passing (very unexpectedly at only 62) and it's been a rough morning. i'm so relieved to have you to sit with as i make some tea and just breathe. thank you so much (for being back, for sharing parts of your life with us).

As long as you have the essential your good❤ hubby and I are low income also. And so thankful for what we have 😊 our son moved back in just over a year ago. His 2 young toddler's live here Sunday to Thursday then back to mommy's. Hubby and I watch them since our son works during the day. Thank goodness my husband works Friday to Sunday so he can help me out with the grandkids. 🥰
How wonderful to have a full house and all that young energy.
We love it & alittle exhausted by Thursday lol. Time truly flies by . Enjoy every moment with your boy's . Sam picture in your office is very nice he's very artistic. 🥰

I think it’s great you want to spend so much time with your kids because before you know it , they’re grown and gone , and off doing their own thing. You have to enjoy the time you get with them when they are young !
It is a weird day when all your children have their own homes and eventually their own families. Sometimes I’d give anything just to have one minute with my four babies again! Now they run 34 to 43 , next year three of them will be in their 40s!
I have a feeling we will be great grandparents in the next few years. two of our grandkids are very serious with their boyfriends, when is 23 and I think it’ll be soon, so crazy! Time is flying by !

I did homeschool my son for many years with the program “Switched on Schoolhouse” for everything other than math and “Teaching textbooks” for the math part. It took a lot of it out of my hands because it is difficult with the dynamics.

As a veteran homeschool mom...I can say it's not easy but totally worth it...especially at about 8 or 10 maybe 12...those were tough yrs...we've always homeschooled exclusively...no co ops...no half day charters...just me and the kiddos...very home and family based...socialization is over rated...it can easily b over done and detrimental to your child's tender mind...socializing should never b a homeschool mom's worry...just live with your child...do life with them...academics from bfast to lunch...then b done and do life with them...run errands...read books...garden...etc...my oldest is graduating this year...what an accomplishment for us both 🎉...he's going out into the world with a sound foundation of morals, he's level headed, and can think for himself...i'm very proud!! 😊

So glad you’re back on TH-cam!! I missed your videos so much! I recently ordered Feast of Life and actually like the larger format. My daughter said, “oh, you got another cookbook” when I opened the package. Does kind of look like a cookbook, which I love❤
It really does! I just got a copy.
I left California for Finland for the great school system. Finnish kids start school a year later than Americans. He’s in 1st grade and school days are short just 19 hours a week. Lunch alone is an hour. They do maths, English, Finnish, religion or ethics, and lots of sports.kids usually bike, walk to school. They also ice skates outdoor right on the school grounds, skiing, swimming hall, sauna, basketball, tennis, etc. and it’s all free, with warm lunch that’s also free (salads, main course, rye breads, and milk). Library is also at school and kids can check out loads of books, they can stay after school and freely play or free to go home on their own starting age 7. School ends at noon some days and 1 pm. They also go to the grocery stores and buy snacks 😂 by themselves..teeny tiny humans. So adorable
And yes very diverse. There’s the English school, Swedish school, and Finnish schools you see all races. My son’s class is international, Indians, Nigerians, Chinese, Finnish, British, Swiss. Teacher is from Spain and holds a Phd in education. Here teachers must have master’s degree in education.
Thank you for sharing all this. I love the Finnish school model and don't understand why we don't have it here even after all the decades of success they are having and showing.

Re:Stove- was also going to suggest looking into the heating element, inexpensive part, as well as checking if the gas jets were clogged. I've experienced both. Easy and inexpensive fixes. Hope this helps.
My electric stove= horrible. They are made so shoddily and yet they are just as expensive as the old ones that lasted 40-50 years+. Within a couple of months 2 of the switches shorted out. Yes burned out. Burned. Smoke. Plastic melting! Easy to replace them, I know how to do it, but I have to pay for them. Even tho this is a known flaw in this stove! Whaaat? Yeah. Ugh (not mentioning them by name, But it starts with a g and ends with an e)
I have that exact same little chef timer. And, I also noticed your clock that looks like a vintage mixer. I have that, too. I've had the little chef timer for decades. I don't remember where I got it. The mixer/clock I bought at a thrift store years ago.
Ha! Kate, I feel you on that waking up to worry about stuff at 3 AM!! Just know that I’m up with you when that happens! lol. You made me lol when you said that about not being able to do anything about it but still stressing over it! 😂
Also I eat the same way you are now. I have for almost 20 years. I have health issues that plant-based fixes for me so I don’t have to take medications because I’m not about to go down that road either! I know how you feel about that too. Great video Kate! Again, so happy you’re back. ♥️
Yes, I don't want to ever be on medications. It's cheaper to eat well.

Hi from the east coast Kate! 😋💛😊🛵📚How to Cook Your Life is free on Tubi (I think, lol). I will try to watch it later. I'm convinced green beans are THE most donated item to the food pantry! We have enough for a year at the food pantry where I volunteer and, guess what? No one wants them 😂😅. Folks, donate lentils, sardines, tomato paste and sauce and tuna please. Im glag you rescued the cans. I leave stuff at the bus stop all the time. We switched to a client choice model when cans were being left in the alley. May Arjan set up the tripod for you???

I recently did a video where a showcasing your book I love it in the magazine format it's almost like a workbook I absolutely love it I have bought all of your books in paper form that have to do with home making and this one by far was the favorite because of the large size

Did you enjoy Walk With Me? If you ever get the chance I recommend you go on a retreat at Deer Park Monastery. Thich Nhat Hanh started this practice center over 20 years ago in Escondido, CA. I love it there

I could. It's just that some of the things I talked about back then I don't jive with anymore. Part of that book was separated out in The Old Fashioned Housewife, if you want the homemaking talks. It was a collection of my old blog.
