To this date I have never seen anyone better than Steve Waugh. Loved to see him since my childhood 😍😘😍. This world have seen great batsmen like Sachin, Lara, Ricky Pointing, Inzamam, Mahela Jaywerdene, Arvinda Desilva, Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kalis, Michael Atherton, but Steve Waugh was the best ever cricket batsman that I have ever seen to this date (Oct 7th 2022).
Hi Steve, I come from the jungle in Borneo and came to study here. I admire and try to emulate your wonderful qualities. You are a thinking human, thriving in adversities and challenges, made hard decisions and stuck to it. No regrets. After watching this show, I manage to buy a copy of your book and looking forward to reading it. My inspiration.
He is one of only few players to have scored more than 10,000 Test runs. He was named Australian of the Year in 2004 for his philanthropic work, and inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2010 . A bloody Aussie legend🏆
All time great Australian captain and my favourite too,ive been searching his interviews for last many days he's got an awesome and calculated mindset😊😊,love from Pakistan
khalil rehman Please...just stop with all that "love from" crap. It doesn't matter where you're from. Just love the beautiful game of cricket without bringing nationalism into the equation.
Haven't seen any aussie with as much of will power and intensity 👌🏻 👌🏻. What a guy.... Still Remember how he scored his last century ... Still in awe of him..
8:58 about that epic series against India and I still remember the charity work he had been doin in India during that series. Rare gentleman of the Australian cricket.
I didn't watch any of that 2001 series in India because I was in Europe, but Steve is spot on in what he wrote in his 800 page autobiography about the fact that the last 5 aussie wickets in Kolkotta were lbw when he wrote "All of our players were fairly given out."
As an Englishman I hated this bloke. Because he was so bloody good. Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say that the other team is better.
It was an excellent decision to impose the follow on by Waugh against India in 200. Had VVS & Dravid not batted so well - legendary tbh - they would have won the match. Also, they lost 7 wickets in the last session to some excellent bowling by Bhaji and Sachin - no shame in losing the match!
Spot on. Sometimes you just get beaten by brilliance. That match has basically changed forever how Australian captains view the follow on. They’ve been scared off by it to this day.
Please don't judge or tarnish the legacy of Hansie Cronje he did it but the Indian cricketers who were caught are now TV pundits and experts. Hansie Cronje is by far the best batsman after abd I think so please Hansie had a horrific end to his Life and when I see those clippings again of 2000 Scandal it hurts so please be fair and forgive Hansie and remember his contribution to South African cricket and give him the respect you south Africans and I'm from India please please forgive Hansie.
1994 tour of South Africa me (14 years old at the time) waited at the hotel the Aussies where staying at just for he's autograph and he refused to give me he's autograph from that day I never thought of him the same way
seeing Steve coming in at 5 or even 6 was totally dispiriting if u were an england supporter...he'd never get out before having the game won. what a competitor.
Shane Warne's best mate .They asked Warne what he thought of the statue of waugh at the SCG .He said he hoped the pigeon population there would double 😂
Nothing about the Poms or the Ashes ??? Otherwise a very interesting interview. Should be updated for his views on the "Tamper Ball Rowdies" of 2018 in view of his searing condemnation of match fixers late in the programme.
What would he say about the poms and the ashes?! “We smashed them every time. Caddick, Fraser, Cork were shite. Their batsmen were shite too. We’d get them out for fun.”
Plus we got beaten by them in my first ashes series in 1986/87. Beefy smashed us in Brisbane and Gladstone Small bowled us out in the Boxing Day test!! He could have mentioned that along with after that series we beat them easily for the next 18 years!!
Well they were talking about the Pakistan players being caught for spot fixing in 2010 and they said it was a couple of years ago so I would say this was recorded in 2012 or 2013.
And how do you figure that? Name one instance where his play was personally selfish. This is often levelled at Steve Waugh but generally it’s from one former teammate who’s felt jaded since he was dropped in 1998.
The question you are refering to was about the match fixing, starting from Hansie to Salman. It was not about Salman or Pak cricket. The Interview was about Aussie and SA cricket and about Steve's career and views. All the questions were about events that defines Steve's career and the players involved in the events. Only time he was asked about specific players are 3 Aussie players and 3 SA players. If you have not noticed, Steve is an Australian and Ali Bacher is a South African. And the intended audience is Australians and South Africans. Not sure why you think Ali Bacher have to ask about Wsim and Waqar specifically. Ali even did not ask about Aussie legends players Lille, Thomson, McDermot, Alan Border, Chapell Brothers, his siblling Mark, Taylor etc.
@@ikhtiarsobhan I don't blame him for asking, the Pakistani's have had some great fast bowlers. But, they're not really a rival for Australia, as India aren't. Maybe Pakistan. We maybe in their eye's, but the West Indies, especially then and now. Like England and New Zealand. It creates the most interest amongst the fan's.
Craig Edwards : Agreed. Wasim and Waqar was greats but their whole team was very inconsistent. You bowl out the opponent below 200 but then got bundled for 150 although they have some great batsmen as well.
Fabulous interview. Steve Waugh is the BEST Test Captain and most courageous batsman of my generation. ❤️
To this date I have never seen anyone better than Steve Waugh. Loved to see him since my childhood 😍😘😍. As a kid growing up Steve and Mark Waugh were my favourites
Mine were Dennis Lillee , Imran Khan and Wasim Akram.
The best Test Caption off all time . I loved watching him play the game of cricket.
His Tough mental approach was his forte . Hard to get such cricketers these days. He was a true war warrior.

Hi😅
Excellent Interview!!!
A true Aussie....worrior on the field....humanitarian in life....he has so much to offer the world...great interview....we need more of this
Got to say, even as a South African kid, he was my favourite cricket player growing up.
Champion. Top cricketer. Amazing human Thoughtful and gritty leader. Complex character. My hero when I was growing up.
He is one of only few players to have scored more than 10,000 Test runs. He was named Australian of the Year in 2004 for his philanthropic work, and inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2010 . A bloody Aussie legend🏆
Even greater that he was a lower middle order batsman and had to bat with tail most of times
He was also the first batsman to score 150 against all (at the time) nine test playing nations.
Great interview plus I love the respect that he shows for the west indies.
Ali Bacher is a Great Interviewer.
All time great Australian captain and my favourite too,ive been searching his interviews for last many days he's got an awesome and calculated mindset😊😊,love from Pakistan

Its odd because he doesn't say much. Not much of a talker.
Steve Waugh, a great sportsman and a great Australian.
Once I get into the BATTLE mode.....go with the FLOW....Enjoy the moment...Galvanise my thoughts....
Haven't seen any aussie with as much of will power and intensity 👌🏻 👌🏻. What a guy.... Still Remember how he scored his last century ... Still in awe of him..
Tough as nails. Legend.
Legend ❤
Steve Waugh: A mixture of Steel and Ice
...and all things Nice?
Really he is Alaxander the great of Cricket .
Steve Waugh: if Clint Eastwood played cricket.
8:58 about that epic series against India and I still remember the charity work he had been doin in India during that series. Rare gentleman of the Australian cricket.
Unmatchable cricketer , magnificent fighter
Fantastic Sir 👍 All time best
Best interview.. best captain
First and foremost what a good man.
I didn't watch any of that 2001 series in India because I was in Europe, but Steve is spot on in what he wrote in his 800 page autobiography about the fact that the last 5 aussie wickets in Kolkotta were lbw when he wrote "All of our players were fairly given out."
A gem of a person and interview.
Toughest cricketer & tough guy!!!!But has got great heart....
A great cricketing mind.
One of toughest & courageous cricketer of all time
Handsome legend ever
My all time favourite overses plyaer!!👍
A tremendous character Steve Waugh
Underrated, to say the least.
Great captain best all rounder
Just seeing the footage of Don, he would have been the Don in any era.
As an Englishman I hated this bloke. Because he was so bloody good. Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say that the other team is better.
Steve Waugh......AWESOME.

The prototypical Australian - hard, tough, win at all cost's, but when it comes to the crunch he's fair.
Spot on. Sometimes you just get beaten by brilliance. That match has basically changed forever how Australian captains view the follow on. They’ve been scared off by it to this day.
19:45 is absolute gold
One of my fav batsmen with blewett
I love australian legend crickter richi tony many more😘😍😍😍
Tony was English

Well thats about India
The captain of that episode of fixing is currently the head of his state cricket association
great cricketer
What a champion, great doc
Excellent cricketer.
Excellent

10:41 the reason why I admire Steve Waugh.
The most important thing about SA cricket that he mentions is the immobility with tactics.
why they talk about the 2nd test in india in 2001 for a lot of it..hopefully an aussie interviews pollock or klusener about the 99 or 03 world cup
And how they fucked it up.
Legend
My ultimate!
Alexander the Great Steve waugh .
The Ice Man !!!
Fan parry no ground report. All best sir.
seeing Steve coming in at 5 or even 6 was totally dispiriting if u were an england supporter...he'd never get out before having the game won. what a competitor.
Waugh a real champ. Warn was real salty towards waugh.
Din mention Warne's name in bowlers list..😁
First along with mcgrath
curtly ambrose grew an inch in 10 seconds
Shane Warne's best mate .They asked Warne what he thought of the statue of waugh at the SCG .He said he hoped the pigeon population there would double 😂
dream player of dream oz team when they
thrashed the teams for fun but today's oz side
is meek they only plays for bloody ipl
Oh what a horrible tragedy between Courtney Ambrose Vs Waugh... Great battle....
Curtly Ambrose. You've got Walsh and Ambrose mixed up. :-)
Now there's a proper test match cricketers!!!

@@Superfly1503 hurts to say you’re right would of been a waste of time talking about the England sides back when he played we were dog poo 🤣🤣
He must be so fucking sick of talking about those incidents with the Windies
Remember that red towel he had hanging out of his pocket, a red flag to Ambrose and others.
And warnie still hasnt forgiven him fo being dropped
Don't now when this was recorded but nothing about last years ball tampering.
it was when steve and bancroft dont even debut this was interview of a few years back in 2009

Warne called Steve Waugh the most selfish cricketer I've ever played with.
M4st3rm1nd
Pot. Kettle. Black.
And the greatest to have ever done it
I guess amongst the fast bowlers, Wasim & Waqar werent great enough to have their names mentioned.
This wasn’t a listing session. Cool your jets.
its clear him and his brother do not get on
Not so:
th-cam.com/video/bzlj9nhP99Y/w-d-xo.html
virat and Smith only two greats in criket
Steve Waugh, a legend, but the most selfish cricketer the world has ever seen. He was always more worried about his avarage.
If you read what the players who played with him say, other than Shane Warne, the exact opposite is the truth.
th-cam.com/video/7OlRKHcmCTk/w-d-xo.html
And how do you figure that? Name one instance where his play was personally selfish. This is often levelled at Steve Waugh but generally it’s from one former teammate who’s felt jaded since he was dropped in 1998.
The most selfless cricketer, pity your cricketing sense
Didn't ask anything about great Pakistani bowling in nineties but ask about the salman butt fixing fy
