Not so. Khartal is Langa and Manganyar instrument. Not used in all areas. This singer is not perfect with this Maad song. It is melodious song. He turned it in to a noisy song. He was good only in middle portion. That is original music. I think this fusion destroys original Maad.
Allah Jillai Bai and Mehdi Hasan were excellent Maad singers. Bhungar Khan among Manganyars and Alladeen Langa among Langas were great too. All are gone now. Very sad.
Concept of Jalsa from Durga ji is fantastic. Providing a different level of music to us.

Fantastic Performance by all these artists. Vishwamohan ji use to come to My town Bhilai in my child hood. He even performed at my house. As my Dad was also Guitarist on same Hawaiian guitar. We were fortunate that Panditji sister was our neighbour at Bhilai

It is clearly seen that 'aalap' part is deliberately imposed in his gayaki! Sorry to say, the originality of the style is completely missing here ! All these classical touches are not needed at all for our folk songs ! They're unique enough in they're own form!

VBM took too long with the introductory piece, and there was no need for the guitar taking centre stage anyway. This folk song should only be accompanied only by traditional Rajasthani Sarangi. This Rajasthani song is eternal and should only be performed by the Singers and their traditional troupes without any adultrations. I have heard this great Maand piece also from traditional village singers, and they are unparalleled and original. The spirit of Rajasthan.
No it's not a Guitar it's a type of veena which looks like guitar used in Hindustani music
No it's not a Guitar the instrument is known as Mohan Veena which looks like guitar but it's a Indian instrument
The Manghiyar singers did not seem to mind the Mohan Veena. I am sure that you can find the “pure” Manghiyar somewhere else. It takes a lot of guts on the part of Mohan ji to do a jugalbandi with a very traditional group.
