Thanks so much for the support! Very kind of you. Actually, I'm a Hannibal fanboy. Currently I'm on my 4th rewrite of the part 20 script. For the first time I'm happy with how it's looking, as I'm trying to pack 214, 213, and 212 BC into it, up to the First Battle of Capua. Tricky task, that. 4th version is up to Hannibal moving on Tarentum. From there I plan to pivot to Macedonian war briefly. Then back to Sicily, then Spain. Then back to simultaneously looking at Hannibal and Tarentum + Carthage's "civil war" stoked by Rome, which forced Hasdrubal to temporarily leave Spain to address this issue. It's looking good. I was just not happy with my previous versions of the text, hence the delay. I went into animating version 2 and mid-way through animation I realized it's lacking. So I dropped it and started again. Glad you're enjoying the series! I'm definitely working on it, don't worry :)

The fact that hannibal was the only carthaginan general with any significant success in the second punic war just shows that carthage was really on its last leg as an empire. A Roman army that was sick and filled with inexperienced troops had nearly wiped out a carthaginan army (along with allies). I can only imagine the frustration he had during the winters waiting for help that would never come. While trying to protect newly found allies too. Very disappointing
They denied reinforcements because of those losses in Sardinia, in Spain etc. democratic societies are ruled by wealthy people, and when war is no longer good for business, people start to pull there investments. Being the largest exporter of olives and Olive Oil, the war was likely terrible for business. Carthage was also not a empire that had a true uniting definition of citizenship. Its a classic example that no empire can thrive on just wealth alone, and that society and culture are just as important.

While this campaign had started to go into its autumn years, I still can't help but be impressed with my boy Hannibal. Occupying Italy and waging war so far from home, all the while fighting against his own senate who hated him. Still, Cannae was becoming a memory now, and the Romans were finding the will to fight even then.
The biggest strenght of Rome was the ability to master a professional army at lightning Speed. Not only that, the overall way of fighting, the training, the logistics they were masters in that
Hannibal may be the #1 best generals of all time, followed by Alexander at 2nd position. Hannibal's ability to predict the enemy's actions was simply above human. I can't cease to be impressed at his every prediction
The small but important victories of the Romans in the other theaters of operations, was what slowly began to put the balance on their part in the war. For Hannibal, it was not useful to be the best general of their times, if the other commanders of their nation weren't at the same level attacking the romans on the Mediterranean islands and in the Iberian peninsula (causing constant unnecessary loss of troops). Although in addition, Hannibal had to fight in the frontline with the difficult situation of dealing with the incompetent desicions of Carthage Senate (the real enemy of the war for him). I hope you upload this series more often, it's the best on the channel.
This is so great series. Many times have hear of the battle of Cannae and about how Hannibal stood against Rome but never knew what happened after, until the Scipio Africanus. This visual representation of the whole epoch is so great!
Worth the wait! You can't help but sympathize with Hannibal and his campaign in Italy. Even though both were imperial powers, The Carthaginian truly was a unique military figure on par with Alexander (given his meager resources). He came within a hair of destroying The Roman Empire at their genesis and changing the course of history. The Macedonian's assessed all too correctly that they would be fighting The Romans alone soon enough if Hannibal was defeated in Italy.
@bastiat Hey, buddy. Are you in a lot of severe pain and bed ridden? There's no need to lash out at people from behind your computer for silly reasons. @bastiat Apology accepted. To the degree Rome was an imperial power compared to Carthage at that point, geographically, you're right. Rome did not control the real estate Carthage controlled. Although, they were still an imperial power. I never made any mention of who had the greatest territory in terms of size. Rome was well into expansionist mode in the Italian peninsula, what we now call Switzerland and their foothold in Iberia. Breaking up the Italy was obviously Hannibal's mission and not particularly conquest. The Romans were the technical underdog true but not in manpower. Brainpower, maybe. They never produced a warlord with the guile that could rival Hannibal. Something The Romans were very astute at though, was their unwavering support for their armies. Until recently, I always wondered why Hannibal was always severely lacking for reinforcements. I never knew about the factionalism going on in Carthage. I enjoy learning about history from a military perspective but admittedly, I'm more so into personalities. Hope your legs feel better.
@bastiat Rome was a city state in the Italian Peninsula that eventually imposed a system of vassalage on it's immediate neighbors through military intervention and at times, outright conquest. These other city states and polities weren't Romans nor spoke Romantic languages. Sure, a few joined through alliances and became protectorates but the majority were coerced. That's enough to qualify them as imperial and this was what Hannibal was attempting to exploit in Southern Italy. They were an ambitious, aggressive and expansionist federation that just happened to be called a republic. Not that dissimilar from Carthage. The Aztecs were mostly confined in Central Mexico but they still had an empire by any definition.

@@modernclassicalmusic8942 Idk
The views and opinions refute your statement
@@raidangthey’re completely different channels lol. oversimplified is a good thing for pushing history to a large audience even if I prefer deep dive channels like historia civilis, historymarche, kings and generals. etc.
@bastiat this is why i said.. Serious and deep topic like 2nd Punic war shouldn't fall kids show.. The sheer fear among the Italian population and nervousness and anxiety after the battle of cannae cannot be Express through Childish jokes
I have been waiting for this for a long time!Thank you for continuing this series!Amazing work as always!
Please don’t wait another year for the next part!
I'll do my best! Part 20 will likely be 35-40min video. Thanks so much for the support. Very kind of you.
@@HistoryMarche 🙏 thank you legend!
When I see your videos, then I think I am right now in that battle. This channel is the most beautiful and outstanding channel I have ever seen. I see Hannibal series everyday.
I am waiting for Hannibal next move.
Finish this series please!! I enjoyed like a child! Best resume of the events of the second Punic War ever watched! Good job for your work, keep going like this!
This series on the 2nd Punic War is going to be become a mainstay on the history of the war for future generations.
Thank you for the support. Very kind of you!
Finally , I missed this serie so much
We’ve been waiting for this one for too long.. at last!! 🙏🏻
I just found this series and thank you for explaining Hannibal's entire military career against Rome. This is by far the best representation of events I have ever found on this site.
This series is the most detailed account of Hannibal Barca. Loved it.
More to come
Absolutely snapped to realise this was the last episode, please for the love of God finish it!!!
Man this series is so good. This video was some of your best work because the quality was there without any collaborations. Thank you for listening to calls to continue this series. It must be rough given how length of this first proto-WW. You operate on Blazetime
Yeah, I used to work solo on all my videos. In more recent times I've hired a small team to increase the number of videos per month. I'm mostly busy managing the team, hence the numerous delays with Hannibal.
@@HistoryMarche Man, so you are like Hannibal, without many resources but managing to produce extraordinary content. No other channel has brought so much detail about the second Punic War and Hannibal as yours. You should have a whole team at your disposal to make more videos. Hopefully the senate will give you more resources, unlike Hannibal.
Please publish part 20!! I've just binged this whole series over the past few days and I am thoroughly hooked!! I need more
At the current velocity ... it looks like this series will take longer to be made, than the Second Punic War itself. Most probably, this project is headed by Fabius Cunctator himself. And he's applying his favorite tactics.
😂😂😂😂
😂 maybe true.. but the next episode could appear sooner if you consider supporting such a great work ;)
Please finish the series! By far the best coverage of the second Punic war I've come across.
This is one of the best history series on any topic I have ever seen. It's not long enough. It needs to keep going!
Working on part 20
@@HistoryMarche YES!! You made my day! Thank you!
Woooo
@@HistoryMarche Letsgo!!! Love it!
What happened
This is the single best documentary of its type I have ever seen, the detail and clear way events are depicted is astonishing!
I, like others, has waited so long for this. Your channel is the best as having the most detailed videos on Hannibal. I hope you guys will continue this until the end. Looking forward to the part of triumphs and sinking into oblivion of the great Scipio Africanus also 🥳🥳🥳
Thank you very much for the support. Very kind of you
Thank you for this amazing serie with such details and great narration that kept me watching all episodes in a row. Waiting for the next episode. Nice work! keep going!
Thank you very much for the support. Very kind of you.
I love how you tell this history. It almost makes you think Hannibal can win this time. So great.
Such a well done series. Thank you! Looking forward to when you finish it.
Thanks for watching! I'm working on part 20. Thank you so much for the support!
Yes!!!! Hot damn I've been waiting for this video. Your Hannibal videos are 1st class. Bravo history marche! Still amazes me that rome's enemies didn't realize they are the weakest right now. Greeks could've jumped at any chance, imagine if all romes enemies could've rallied together at this point!
Gods of the algorithm, I deliver this commentary to keep one of the best military strategy and tactics channels on youtube relevant, may my words go far!
Found the channel because of this particular series almost a year ago. I have been waiting for continuation since I binged all the previous episodes. At last! I hope we don't have to wait a year for the next part.
I thought these serie long gone, Im happy to seeing new content on Hannibal, surely this channel is the most detailed, close to a Netflix serie.
I absolutely love these romans episodes! The best I’ve ever seen and learnt so much from them!
You guys did such a good job in making the series. Please please please finish the series, I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to it
The information after the battle of Cannae is complicated to handle, several Spanish and Italian channels have stayed in 215 BC. It is a pity.
I just can’t wait for part 20. This series is a masterpiece
Legendary series. I have learned so much from you. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! And thank you for the support. Very kind of you.
Wow, perfect timing. I just finished watching all the rest yesterday.
My first introduction to Hannibal Barca was from Oversimplified so I was glad to recently find this channel filling in the minutia of this war. But the both of you have not finished the series! I’m sure the both of you are making sure to treat this subject with the utmost respect and proper care. In the meantime…time to rewatch from the start!
finally Hannibal wars!!!
dont interrupt this series! keep it going!
The second punic war series is my favourite series of this channel, it's awesome, please continue to update it!
Thank you fo the thrilling series- long awaited continuation. Hope next chapters will not be much delayed.
This is the only channel I have the bell button on you didn't even need to ask. Your videos are top quality, I have been waiting so long for this episode and it was worth the wait thank you
Each epsiode i am surprised how did Romans manage to survive this war, its rly increadible.
And the animations are lovley, this storm was very nice, and the reading and the history itself conducted this way - i just could kept listening to it for ages!
Cant wait for another episode amd the Battle of Zama.
Please finish this. I was so sad when i realized this is the last episode. Literally the most griping and well made series on YT
Part 20.
Please i need some more history crack.
I am addicted.
Great to see a new vid on this series, does this mean we will be getting more soon?
Possibly. They are debating on how to cover 214.
@@seanmac1793 is it because it's difficult year to compile into a episode?
@@jozzieokes3422 ya most years are 365 days so its hard to shorten to 20 minutes 😃
@@jozzieokes3422 yeah they said if it was going to be a single episode it would most likely be 40 minutes long
@@nicknewell23 indeed mate
Really hope you intend to finish this series. I'm a big fan of Hannibal and this is one of the best series of his campaign I've watched/listened to. Please finish, kindly...
So glad this series is back!
Man you gotta make part 20
This playlist was the reason i subscribed you😭
This is the best series on your channel *period*
We're still waiting for your promise to finish this series ❤❤❤❤❤
This is by far the highest quality, and most captivating series on the second Punic war. At least that I have found.
Great video HM! well worth the wait!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for joining the live premiere!
Yes, please do continue this superiorly series on Hannibal, you can’t just leave us on an amazing cliff hanger like that! Please continue the series, they’re always so well narrated and visually stunning!
We need more episodes, please continue the series!
This is my favorite series on youtube. I've been waiting on a new episode for almost a year 🤧
May the algorithm accept this offering!
After a long wait, I watch the clip, and there is a tear of joy falling from my eyes
Th3 fact you still haven’t finished this series is downright criminal
What an awful comment - even for TH-cam comment section. These fantastic videos take time and they’re providing them to us for free. We all have to be patient and that’s the end of it.
This series are a masterpiece, there are posibly no other series or chanel who i wait more often than this.
Just found your channel a bit ago, and getting another video continuing the Punic war is just grand.
I'm so excited to see you all continuing the Hannibal series. It's my favorite one on the channel!
Finally ! Part 19, waited so long for this.
So glad u re back with this astonishing documentary of second punic war
Why you guys don't continue this series to finish it. As you can see everyone is in love with it. Please continue this series.
11 months wait totally worth it! Thank you so much!

My comment sacrifice to the algorithm! Thank you for this amazing series! It's so magnificently well done!

ABOUT TIME LOL!!! I wish you would finish the whole series on Hannibal. Every battle he ever did up to the end of his life.
This episode on the Second Punic War was so worth the wait!!!
Thanks for making my day and keep up the spectacular work!!!
Idk man more than a year? If it was like a 1 hour video it would be worth it. Especially because this has been covered by other channels but it was nice seeing it done by him
Brilliant serie I love it since it started in pandemic! Go on please with next episodes. Thank you!!!
Where is episode 20? The only other battle that got me hooked on classical warfare. HistoryMarche give me back Zarma.
Working on it.
George RR Martin of TH-cam history channels
@@matttreado3443that would be true if he didn’t release around 100 (sic!) other videos since this one 🤦🏼♂️ This is so ridiculous that I don’t have words for it. No idea what is going on here. Oversimplified will finish the topic for this guy.
Love HistoryMarch, so happy i found this channel and i keep watch. Also, thanks for being impartial unlike most people right now.
This is an excellent narrative. The Punic Wars were a subject of interest to me, but the only book I had read on the subject was Harold Lamb's "Hannibal". I did not know that there were so many other operations taking place outside of Italy and Spain, such as the Sardinian revolt you covered. I will follow your lectures on this topic.
