The Police Monument is no longer there. It was defaced so many times (even blown up at one point) that it was moved inside the walls of the Chicago Police academy.

This really is the Tiananmen square of American history. Never mentioned in school history or spoken of until the most recent rise of unionization.
Also astonished this channel isnt massive for for the quality of the content.

I never made that connection, Brady. Great point. And I appreciate the compliment. I hope it does grow to become massive one day! Just keeping busy until then :) Cheers!

Would have been helpful to also mention that the usa government has tried to erase May Day as a holiday that is celebrated nationwide.

@@jessecosme14 You're right. Thank you for that. I did have that on my outline but with all such project many cuts are needed. That didnt make it. But, I appreciate that feedback. Mahalo.

The police serve capital, never forget

They serve whoever controls the government. And that is Capital in a western democratic society.

This is when workers actually had a backbone back then. Now we're actually slowly losing every one of those rights and we have nobody to blame but ourselves for letting it happen. Soon, you'll keep working until you literally die while your owner lays on their bed of money while watching you struggle.
And LOOK! Child labor is back! Why the hell aren't we trying to stop this?

Because anarchists played a big role in this.
The state will never mention anarchists. They are mortal enemys

This was great thank you. I would like to add that this is so tied into the mass incarceration problem that we have. Furthermore, the U.S. and Canada have tried to white wash and eliminate this part of "labor day" Mayday is an important day and should be celebrated much more then labor day.

Thats why history is important. To remember what it took to get our rights, what it was like before, and why workers' rights matter. :)

The scarecrow must've represented uneducated farmers, but I've no idea what the cowardly lion was meant to portray.
