My philosophy for a while has not been “what kind of person would my dad want me to be” but rather “what kind of person would I want my child to be.” Since taking that mindset, I’ve been able to prioritize my own morals a lot better and think clearly about what matters most to me 😊

wow. i could actually cry, this is such a revelation. I have grappled for 14 years about what sort of parent I am and what MY parents would do or think, when in reality, God gave me my child because, when all is said and done, my husband and I are meant to parent him. And I have to live the life that inspires my child and sets him up to fulfil his Own potential.

True, I lived a lot of my life how my parents wanted and grew up with this illusion that "they are my parents they know what they're talking about" when in reality they know just as little as I did back then. I grew out of that and figured I should be what I wanted to be, taking my own decision. My parents think they gave me a good education and i'm a good person because they're good examples but in reality I chose not to be like them and follow my own morals and beliefs. If I were to take their advice I would've finished college and went to work on something else because apparently the field I have a degree in "wasn't very profitable nor it had a lot of work opportunities". I knew the numbers, I knew the statistics and I put in the effort. After 3 years in my field I earn almost 3x what my mom earned working 20 years in the same place she is in

I just want to share this strategy that has been working for me for years: Have a level-headed imaginary friend.
It is pretty much same as "your inner voice" but I give mine more of a personality. Whenever I go though hard times or have to make a difficult decision, I imagine a conversation between me and this friend, and her point of view is always more mature and logical. By doing it this way, I can both acknowledge my own feelings (not dismissing them) and also broaden my perspective and think logically at the same time. You can also argue that "why not have a real person to do this", but other people can't understand your struggles better than yourself. This imaginary friend would know you best and give you great advice that's for your own good.

If there is anything I have learned, it’s the power of a to do list. To do lists are OP. To do lists helped pull me out of depression. Having a list you put together beforehand or each day and sticking to it really boosts productivity, and when you look down and see every item checked off at the end of the day it gives an unbeatable sense of satisfaction.

I'm 27 and what I always tell young kids (17-18-19 year olds or younger) is. Take care of your health first and foremost. Taking care of your skin, hair, teeth, body etc is the best thing you can do. If you have a healthy body you have a healthy mind, all of this needs work. Doesn't matter if you read and study every day if you don't exercise, eat properly and take care of yourself. Same way if you exercise and work out but you don't study (you work out your body and you don't work out your brain? Really?). It's like a video game, at first life helps you: you can eat junk food, you can exercise poorly, you can ignore your health problems your body is growing and can handle all of that. You'll be skinny, your blood will be great, your skin will be perfect. But suddenly, you find yourself in your mid 20s and your body doesn't cope with an all nighter of partying the same way, your body doesn't react well to a certain lifestyle you chose (ie drugs, drinking, smoking, etc) and in your late 20s, where i'm entering right now, it's when your body starts giving you small signs that life isn't helping you anymore and you need to take action. I always tell something along these lines so they can preemptively prepare themselves to what's to come.
All of the video tips are good, even though in reality we can't do all of these 100% of the time. But you're not a failure if you can't, as long as in a course of a year it's something that's common for you to do.

I wish i learnt most of these principles about seven years ago. A lot of people have been trapped strongly in the matrix-- Go to school, get a job, and then slave your whole life. Many miss out on life-changing information that could have great effect on their finances. I played with the stock market sometime in 2020, and I was surprised at how well it turned out. I want to put in $90k more into the market. I heard people are making really great returns despite the downturn. Any recommendations?

“Keep moving forward” is the phrase I use the most, followed by “it could always be worse”, and “we all make choices”. I can’t be bogged down with what ifs so I do my best to learn from mistakes but not dwell on them. I probably practice about 90% of your list regularly, and since I’m a few years shy of 40, I guess I’m right in step. 😂. Great vid.

My experiences so far, at age 25. Feel free to tell me your experiences too.
    01) Even though I have darker skin, I still like to take care of my skin, sunblock included
    02) I take long walks while thinking about my problems already. I come back refreshed and ready to work
    03) There's a song I really like about this, called "Look At The Sky" by Porter Robinson. I like to do this whenever I can, having conversations with myself.
    04) I don't drink coffee, but tea. The point still stands though.
    05) I keep a pocket notebook rather than a phone on me. It really helps!
    06) Unfortunately my apartment is a studio. Maybe I'll set lines for this.
    07) I love notepads. I keep several!
    08) This is one I'm working on a little. I'm setting a timer now.
    09) I read for hours a day, and hope to write for myself eventually as well! Easily my favorite pastime.
    10) I've never lent a book, but I guess I won't do that.
    11) I write goals on sticky notes, and take them down when I accomplish them, putting a new one in place
    12) I write down all of my thoughts. Even writing this comment helps me vocalise things back to myself. This comment is more or less me taking notes.
    13) I'm currently living hand to mouth, but hopefully I will be able to keep some loose cash on me in the future, ideally before I graduate.
    14) Unless I really love something and can afford 5, I won't buy one.
    15) I want to be able to buy my time back eventually. I think I'll be able to do so in a few years.
    16) I do listen to family and friends about finances, but only if I know they do their due diligence. I guess because I come from an immigrant family, I listen to them more with regards to saving.
    17) Financing is a bad word for me. I never want to finance anything except a mortgage, and even then, I don't know if I want to buy a house. Besides, to me, debt is the single worst thing there is when it comes to finances.
    18) I'm unfortunately not super knowledgeable about insurance, but I'm trying to learn.
    19) I keep my investments pretty diversified. It's not much, but it's there.
    20) I have ASD. I struggle with this one, but I'm trying to get better.
    21) I'm really proud of my handshake :)
    22) I've learned this firsthand. I love seeing how people's faces light up.
    23) I prefer to listen rather than talk anyway.
    24) I like learning from people. They definitely know something I don't. My purpose is to learn from other people.
    25) Being mean seems like a lot of unnecessary stress to me.
    26) I like to be hopeful, even when things look bleak. There is always an upside. I don't think it's ignorant or naive of me to think that things will eventually work out.
    27) I'm not married, but I believe this. It's a life partner. It makes sense to choose partners of all kinds wisely.
    28) I like to play sports, games, and music. I also like to create just for my own fun. It's how I'm surviving school.
    29) I don't have any real secrets of my own, but it does feel nice to be trusted with other people's thoughts.
    30) Burning bridges is heartbreaking to me. I don't have it in me to do that.
    31) I don't like to think of it as losing, but learning. When something doesn't work, I think I have to stare at it for a moment so I can find the lesson, and try again. I think if I kept succeeding at something, I might get bored, in all honesty.
    32) I keep thinking of that Uncle Iroh quote, how pride is not the opposite of shame, but its source. True Humility is the only way. We must be humble, or we will be humbled.
    33) Respect is really important to me. Filial piety and all, yeah, but also I think that everyone has a lesson to teach. Everyone has a purpose in society, in one way or another. They just need to find it.
    34) This is difficult for me. I tend to overanalyse and study things. I'd say this is the single most challenging one for me so far.
    35) I do this ever week in the morning. It keeps me going.
    36) This is everything to me. I strive to learn at least one thing every day, and study it to whatever extent I can
    37) I have to remind myself that I don't have to be anxious from time to time. I'm in a new place, doing something new, around new people, but I'm doing okay.
    38) You can do everything right and still fail. That's just life. Learned that from Star Trek.
    39) I don't know if I can live without regrets, but I can definitely reconcile with every regret I've ever had, and move forward. I think that's a more realistic goal for me.
    40) I think I need to be reminded this from time to time. Thank you for this one.

I think a much better tip for the vast majority of people who be to cut out that sugary snack you eat each day, or how about that Mountain Dew that has an entire cup of sugar in it.

I also saw this thing, the more you limit or give something just a pre-planned amount of time, the more you'll do it, enjoy it, value it, look forward to it without motivation needed, if you do something too much even though you enjoy it soon it will lose its value, and you'll start to procrastinate and be easily distracted, kinda like the law of diminishing returns, any Thanks for a great video.

Superb video. But, let me share this here knowing it can uplift someone that comes across it. Effective financial management made me rich and it is all you need if you want to build a strong financial future tomorrow. I started with 1000USD, 3 years ago I invested in a diversified stock market and fast forward to now I am worth 500000USD and am currently finishing my 8 unit apartments. I'm only 35 years old. Diversified stock investments have always proven to be very profitable, especially with the help of experts.

About the coffee tip; make sure to understand not all takeaway coffee has sugar.
If you can and are able to buy from specialty coffee places, do know you're able to drink lattes and flat whites too since they're traditionally made with only espresso and milk.
Keep away from sugar, but definitely don't constrain yourself with only drinking "black" coffee.
