      I felt this is easier than finger combing😋 just need to separate clumps and smoothen them. Makes curly hair look longer more defined yet natural unlike finger coiling hehe but yeah worth doing only on special occasions! Do test it once before big events to avoid experimental mishaps😋

      @@desicurly Yes definitely will try it once before the event. And if it genuinely will take lesser time than finger coiling then maybe I will do it frequently. After all even I don't like finger coiled curls way too much. It doesn't look natural 😅😅 thank you for introducing to this method❤️🤗

      @@desicurly I have low porosity, (2C- )3A medium hair. I used a moisturizing CG friendly conditioner (re equil Babassu) first. Detangled, once soft. Then got a bowl with water- not too much like in the trends.. maybe around a quarter size of a mug for my length of hair(décolletage level) and proceeded with the bowl method(dunking and squeezing) - noticed that my low porosity hair prefers this diluted conditioning method the best+ moisturizes every bit of hair equally. I then went ahead with the shingling method(with the diluted conditioner still in my hair and not leave in) and lastly apply gel with praying hands. This method has worked the best for me, be it definition wise or moisturization, out of all others.

    Hey DC
    I tried this method today but it was unsuccessful 🥺
    Somehow my hair turned out stringy and frizzy.
    I had to brush it repeatedly to reduce wet frizz
    My hair becomes frizzy if I touch it too much like if i squish to condish using bowl method.
    My hair looks best when I do the low effort routine as in just finger comb my hair and scrunch 🤭
    Thanks for the video though 🙂
    I enjoyed watching and learning

    • @desicurly
      @desicurly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can SO MUCH relate to ‘becomes frizzy if I touch too much’ 🥲 That exactly the reason I dont scrunch my hair after styling, I dont diffuse or do anything to disturb my curls when wet and styled. This mostly happens with coarse hair strands or naturally tight curl patterns.
      Also when wet hair becomes frizzy if we disturb it too much while water isn’t present. Water+moisturiser (leave in or cream) helps sticking a clump into clump. That’s the reason I do shingling section by section. I take a small section, brush it to smoothen it as much as possible, add water to it (so it doesnt frizz up) and then do shingling. If I dont add water to each section while shingling when just wont clump and will be too frizzy. Also making thicker clumps helps making it not stringy. I hope that helps😍♥️ but if your hair is doing much better without putting extra effort then I would say there is no reason to try new things😋😋 whats better than low maintaining curls 🥹🥹♥️♥️♥️ glad you gave it a try😍

    I have thin curly hair and always get worried that combing while applying cream would break the curl pattern…so I don’t really comb my hair to rake in the product…does combing while applying cream not work on certain types of curly hair? Also, can I detangle with a wide tooth comb?

    I don't do any methods, I just apply light weight products to lock moisture and diffuse my curls come out just fine and beautiful. Currently am transitioning from straight hair to curly hair 😭 I feel I've forgotten everything, with so much knowledge of cg method it's confused me. I want to try new products, do you have any recommendation for light weight product for hair cream and gel? And protein mask?

    • @desicurly
      @desicurly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Protein mask: reequil pea protein mask. Its not a deep conditioner just a protein repair mask. Light weight products: suggested here th-cam.com/video/3AVBg69BNcE/w-d-xo.html
      Also you dont need any specific knowledge just basic hair care and learning to apply products and define. Styling technique takes time in learning rest is all basic basic dos and donts. I dont avoid any ingredients like said in cg method. Makes life easier🥲

    Hey pls make video on curly hair growth

    • @desicurly
      @desicurly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tejal, curly hair grows as any hair would and that depends on our genetics & hormones heavily! Curly hair just shrinks up hence it doesn’t look as long as it should. I have tight curls and its a pain to grow curly hair. Only patience and hair care helps. Without keeping the length healthy its not possible to grow it longer at all. It will split and get rough and discoloured needing a new trimming session again.

    Hey deepika. Wanted to know about a particular ingredient. I think its called methylchloroisothiazolinone. Is this a silicone?? I looked up and its showing it as a preservative. But the -one is kinda getting me confused. Would personally use a product that has this an ingredient??

    • @desicurly
      @desicurly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sumana! That’s not a silicone. Its a preservative and comes in a pair of two if you notice. Preservatives are awesome as they keep our product safe from mould and bacteria fungus and what not so its a totally great ingredient/preservative. I have talked about it in this video (th-cam.com/video/Q_Mdch6oPLU/w-d-xo.html )
      However it can give itchy scalp for those who are naturally allergic to these two ingredients (just like some people are naturally allergic to peanuts wheat turmeric etc). Not everyone is allergic to them. I am not allergic to them i have often used them in longer term in various products across various brands. Infact I use silicones too without a worry.
      I have done this mistake of considering myself as cosmetic scientist for years😋 analysing ingredients and blaming ingredients without any proof. I have stopped doing it now. I recently did a live discussion on ingredients in case you are interested in watch. instagram.com/tv/ClGdTBrptkz/?igshid=NDk5N2NlZjQ=
      Also some awesome recos for well read people who talk about ingredients and I learn from their videos: DR DRAY channel, LAB MUFFIN SCIENCE channel on youtube

    • @desicurly
      @desicurly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alisha! A lot of people feel this way using henna. Be it henna or hair colour, both dry out hair and hair needs extra care after colouring. Henna is no way safer or better than colouring for that matter.
      What do you otherwise use for your curly hair and why you feel it does not suit you?

    😥didnt you get the neck pain or back pain ? Kudos to you for that effort.

    • @desicurly

      Not usually because I take thicker clumps so it’s completed quickly. But boy! This time when I was shooting Idk what got into me to make such fine clumps! It took longer and my neck started aching so so bad😅
      But that’s not the only way to do it. You can also stand upright and do this method instead of bending down the whole time❤ that’s easier surely

    What’s difference between finger coiling and Shingling ?

    • @desicurly
      @desicurly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Finger coiling is taking a clump and twisting and twisting and twisting it around the finger to give a ribbon like twisted look. Shingling focuses on smoothening each clump. A twist is given at the end just to fix all hair tightly in that clump. Twisting that’s why is optional. You can also pinch that clump to do the same thing. Results of finger coiling is not something I enjoy since that look is quite unnatural looking more like wigs those judges wear in court 😋😅 shingling however does not change your curl pattern yet will look more defined and natural as usual. Its just a high definition styling technique
