Thanks very much, I sold my Garratt and Red Devil since, but also now obtained a few Cape 1 Gauge, 1/24 scale SAR trains that run on 45 mm LGB track.

Super stuff Carl. I get the feeling you would recognise the sound of any particular one in real life

Are you using a DCC Controller for the spoornet diesel locomotives?

    Hi,
I'm really impressed by your collection. May I ask you, from which manufacturer you got the Class 15E models and how you created the soundfiles for these and the other electric locos?
    Kind regards
    Martin

Martin Gertenbach hi, 15e is moulded by Lourens Sturgeon from Pretoria, South Africa, using Frateschi Chassis. I used some European loco sound file and changed the horn and stuff to sound more SA, using Locsound decoder

      @@carldecamposblind524 Hi,
thank's for your answer. As I ordered two Class 18E recently, I would be very glad, if you would give me a hint, with which ESU projects and horns, you builded your Class 6E files. do you know, if the 15E model is still available?

Hi, the Steam except Garratt arre now made by Gordon Winson, I don't have his number, but I think Miniature Models, then also Dreamtrains.co.za for Frateschi, and also look up SARM models for electric and diesel and rolling stock, and Lourens Sturgeon for Electric, and Precision Miniatures for 19D and Garratt, I don't have their numbers, but contacting Wynand via www.dreamtrains.co.za will have all the info.

Jomama05 Precision Miniatures, they very expensive and tempramental runners, but well detailed and scaled

      @@carldecamposblind524 ,
I thought that the Garratt is a built up from DJH kit.
I guess most of locomotives are custom made, with exception of Frateschi and Lima models, right?

    • @carldecamposblind524

@@truebras Hi, I believe those used to beaDJH kits but now called Precision Miniatures more recentlely. The other steam were built by Eric Bekker who's now left SA and business taken over by Gordon Winson. The 35 class diesels made by Jan Gouws SARM models on Frateschi chassis, the 34 class diesel full Frateschi, and the 6E1 units by SARM, and other units made by Lourens Sturgeon in Pretoria, on Frateschi chassis

      Hi Carl,
Thanks for the info. About 20 years ago I got 3 or 4 resin kits of Transkaroo passenger wood wagons with cloister roof type. I think these were made by Mr Becker.
Later I go a built up set of 1940’s- 50’s Blue Train. But because I didn’t have anything to pull it, I sold it. It went by an astonishing value.
Is your Garratt powered by a single motor? Like the DJH one? I am thinking about adding a sound decoder, but I am not sure since the motor/gearbox combo is quite noisy.
Last, since I haven’t seen much of SAR models for 10 more years I was surprised to know that there is the model maker called SARM. Are their products good? I would like to get some Transkaroo material. How does compare to old Lima wagons? However, what I see on EBay are $75-85 for a passenger wagon. What l think is pretty steep. Considering that the Rand is a weak currency.
Apologizes for so many questions. I am just a train modeler that lives pretty far from SA, but I admire the railway material over there, in special steam locomotives.
      Cheers. Ed
