Jakob vowing for the 3k/5k makes more sense practically given his “better” performances over those distances. Hobbs would be perfect pick for the last spot but for future events it would make more sense to get two top 1500m guys and two top 800 guys. It makes sense why they got the 3 1500 medalists locked in (and probably a 4th 15 specialist) but it’s overlooking the 800m specialists a bit
Exciting times! I would also suggest more ‘creative’ races such as: 1) Match-up USA vs Europe relay. Nuguse-Hocker vs Kerr-Ingebrigtsen in 2x 800 or 2x1500 or 800/1500 combo or a 3000 in any way the two team members want to run it. 2) 800 -1500 relay with Mu-Hocker vs Hodgkinson-Kerr, for example. 3) 400m champions vs 800m champions at 600m. Or with relays. Anything to stir up promotion for the sport that is hot now but is not getting the publicity. 😊
Exactly, I think having Bol there to keep Sydney honest would be a plus. Because it feels like Sydney could take it easy and still win evrytime otherwise. Throw Bol in there and Sydney HAS to really send it everytime or she comes 2nd. More completive and fun to watch. Probably see more records as a result to.
@@retzlaffruns920 Sydney would probably still be unchallenged for the win even with Bol in it, but without her most of the competition will probably struggle to stay within 2 seconds of Sydney. Don't forget that most 400mH athletes usually don't run the 400m flat, at least not in individual races. As far as I know Bol and her coach expressed concern about combining an indoor season, her training after indoor and an outdoor season with the, currently very early in the season, meets in GST. Unlike Sydney she runs indoors and can't just not show up at any European meets during the summer. At least for the first season I'd expect her to be a "challenger" in 1, maybe 2 meets. Still interesting though ...
@@kpat3052Sydney is running 200/400 double. No use in her running 400 hurdles even if Bol signs. No one can come close to challenging Syd in the 400 hurdles. I’m glad Syd is taking on new challenges.
I'm really interested to see where the other locations are going to be. With 2 meets in the USA the non-US based athletes that can be "racers" greatly depends on the location of the other 2 meets. If one of them is in Jamaica or Bahamas they will have a lot of great sprinters that can potentially sign up, but at the same time that would make it less appealing to European-, African- or Asian athletes ...
They should really aim to hold two in the Western Hemisphere and two in the Eastern Hemisphere. Like if one is in Jamaica, then only do one in the US and have the other two be in the other hemisphere. Diamond League is heavily weighted toward Europe; hopefully Grand Slam Track can spread meets more fairly.
@@dv9360 Currently there will only be 4 meets, 2 in the US is confirmed (one of them in LA), the other 2 are unknown. It's an American league, so it's going to be US-centric, not only with half of the meets there, but probably most of the core athletes will be American. Since it's only track and no field events and since it focuses more on the sprints, it would be logical for them to go with 1 meet in the Caribbean, since many talented athletes originate there. Diamond League is mainly in Europe because that is where historically the biggest meets are and most of the worldwide T&F fans. USA has one historically important and renowned venue: Hayward Field. Even though the USA probably has a lot of the best T&F athletes (and programs) right now, the number of T&F fans is relatively low ... (GST is set up to try and change that)

I'm sure they're trying to get Femke Bol
They already have Syd. Doubt it.
@@kpat3052 Who's going to be close to competitive against Sydney in 400mH except Bol to make it interesting to watch?

Bryce hoppel for the 4th lead spot!
Its going to be slow 1500s without Jakob pacing them…
